Summary
His veins were on fire, surely this was not the way he'd die? Diluc didn't have an answer for that though as he laid on the cold floor of the cellar, his body burned with an unnatural flame. His mind faded from the present, reliving the past he thought was behind him. Seeing one's life before their eyes...maybe he was dying....

After that incident, I knew I had to change my approach if I was going to get even the smallest foothold. I couldn’t change everything, dropping my mask completely. I didn’t want you to think that everything up to that point was fake and I was leading you on. I had to work on actively lessening the mask around you. I wanted you to see that I was hiding my pain in a different way and it worked. You allowed me in and I could see so much damage you had sustained and I hated everything that caused you harm…” Kaeya trailed off for a moment, and Diluc watched as the Captain lifted a hand and using a finger began to trace a scar on his arm, before the Navy haired male continued in a hushed tone “I hated myself there for a while too… I was that last nail in the coffin of your grief. I never said any of that to hurt you…”
