Chapter Text
"沈むよ雨の月曜日に沈む
外の雨にさえきづかない
窓硝子越しの移ろう雲
君と過ごした日々の終わり"
ゆめうつつ by lamp
Emil never really questioned the noble lifestyle within itself to his own regard sure he would have rather been a cleanser than some snotty noble though some would like to differ- his face and hair were always well preened although he would have like to note this as “just what somebody would do” no that is not what someone would regularly do in a post-apocalyptic world but, nonetheless here he was getting ready for "party" which could really be considered a stuffy place were snobs came to gloat lavishly in their money perhaps drink and look down at the people below. Emil did not like those types of parties but, really what other parties could he be able to go to he was stuck in the place of a noble home. he was considered a gem between nobles a rarity for being pulchritude although if you told him he'd belatedly tell you that, that would be a wrong assumption he didn't feel beautiful in his own right.
beauty was in the flames he would catch a glimpse of consuming his every being as if he and it were one and the same. he remained trapped in his thoughts staring at the glass pane which looked down upon the village down below leaving a dirt path that was slowly littering with ant-like shapes which crawled up in over. These were carriages. an exasperated sigh left him before he looked back down to the moor below nothing grew but, it was calming enough for him at least today as his name was called out. not his mother but, his nanny she was telling him to come down and begin greeting the guests although that is what he assumed was said before he clambered out the solemn window just like he had stared at him. his parents would not be happy but that didn't matter.
Quickly scaling down the side of the house he landed with a thud quickly dusting himself off and smoothing his hair back into place. He looked around swiftly. Nobody really was around “the little ants” weren’t even close enough yet. He’d be fine. Emil walked swiftly to the moor down below was a stream and a forest which seemingly went back down on.
Although he had lived here all his life he hadn’t gotten used to the rigid rocks and their sharp camaraderie so it came to no surprise as he slinked downwards that his pants clung to the rocks. The only way to get unstuck was to rip them. Without a second's glance, he tugged with a horrified expression as a piece of fabric remained on the rocks landing in the stream with a thud he hurried back off into the forest.

Tuuri was excited, smiling as the little carriage bumped around sure she had been on all types of transportation before coming to Sweden but, this was different! After all, it's not every day you get to go somewhere outside of the base. she peered out the window excitedly watching the sites go by from their room in a tavern. Lalli stuck his head out for a different reason, being quite nauseous and ready to pass out since they had gotten on. Tuuri didn't mind as she chattered away with little tidbits from taru and herself.
"I heard nobles only hold these types of parties to look for suitors for their children! doesn't it seem quite peculiar to do that to one's own child?" Tuuri questioned yet again her brows furrowing in determination for no one in particular
"I suppose it does seem quite peculiar but, it's for the benefit of the family..." she huffed out seemingly distracted "the children have no say that's how it's always been when it comes to noble families"
tuuri frowned "Have we come to be suitors then? Is that why we were invited out to meet the Västerström's? are they the main event?" nervousness pitted in her stomach like a big coiling snake holding her hostage
taru let out a husky laugh before smiling "No, certainly not I don't believe your brother would have let you go if I had that intention in mind" she looked at tuuri for a moment"I just made a promise to a friend"
Tuuri eased back down smiling at least she wouldn't have to worry about that but, she was curious what promise could her and Lalli be involved in because of taru? that was soon stopped by the halt of the carriage bumping tuuri and her cousin back with a groan waking him with a start. Taru scoffed before getting out, giving a pointed look at the two of them before she left. perhaps meaning "stay inside" tuuri shrugged looking at lalli who stared back unblinking. she let out a sigh before laying her head on the door.
"Are we there yet?" Lalli asked quietly as he leaned back on the seat rifle in between his legs
Tuuri shook her head before looking back at lalli his rifle in hand. she let out a laugh before shaking her head grabbing the rifle from him she laid it on the floor softly. laying her head back against the door, her eyes closing softly. she didn't sleep in fear she'd wake back up on the base and not on her way to a noble house. she imagined what it would be like. a large house with beautiful rooms all beautiful and clean with portraits and antiques with ancient books inside enough to make the house seem lived in but, as well as fancy in its own right. outside of the house, there would be beautiful trees and flowers lightening up the place. She thought of the people inside all dressed nicely and were kind to her, calling her in further to the beautiful world which seemed only attainable from the pictures she had seen scattered in old printed books with yellow rotting paper. she settled in as her dreams nestled her.
"Tell me about them" Lalli whispered at her quickly peering down on her
her eyes popped open quickly giving a questioning look at him "tell you about what?" she asked
"the nobles" he stated sinking into his seat once more
"oh...well nobles their rich people...very important people as well some of them hold ancient books and such from the old world” she slowly warmed up back to the topic again lifting her head up
“They also hold courting parties apparently so that heirs can find someone to marry and pass down nobility” she chartered away “Of course it's all for business but, I heard really courting means you slowly work up to the idea of marriage with gifts and things, even little kisses!” she whispered
Lalli quirked an eyebrow at her, seemingly confused about it before he tuckered down.
“I've seem to have forgotten I heard Västerström's have a son” she quirked “he's about our age but, I’ve heard from the people in the village that he's quite beautiful too bad he doesn't leave the house often”
He moved his head to the side, furrowing his eyebrows and shaking his head.
“I know right! He's probably locked up in there like a princess!” she snickered “he’s probably a snob though” she shrugged
“han brente ned en låve en gang, tilsynelatende” a voice came from outside
Tuuri looked around for the owner of that voice although she noted it as Norwegian she wasn’t really sure until she popped her in through the opening in the door. It was that of a woman with short red hair and intriguing purple eyes. She stood near the door peering in towards tuuri her fingers digging into the outside of the door.
"Really?” Tuuri replied back in Norwegian to the women. She thought about what she said, maybe it was a custom of some sort she didn’t know of perhaps or maybe the boy was just crazy, to begin with.
She grinned replying although this time tuuri was sure it was Norwegian “Yeah, they said he burned it to the ground granted it was abandoned” the woman shrugged leaning in forward “If I was stuck inside like that guy I’d have burned this place to the ground by now” she grinned
Tuuri tilted her head in confusion. What purpose did it serve to burn an old monument? Specifically a barn of all reasons it could have been used for all sorts of purposes. Perhaps people in Sweden didn’t care about the little things at all after all they were all tall and blonde with six toes (supposedly she hadn’t really gotten around to figure it out yet) she peered back at the strange women who stared back at her with gleaming eyes. She moved her arm forward out to turri, seemingly wanting her to shake it.
“Sigrun eide, military captain” she spoke. Tuuri shook her hand in turn Sigrun shook it roughly
“Tuuri Hotakainen” she replied letting go of Sigrun's hand she turned to face Lalli “and this is my cousin Lalli...” he wasn’t their
Tuuri looked horrified as Sigrun quirked her eyebrows. She quickly scattered out the door almost tripping before Sigrun caught onto her swiftly. Tuuri yelped before bowing and speeding away unapologetically into the woods. Sigrun followed closely behind of course there seemed something surprising in the air tonight and she had to see it.
