One
Oh great.
The room had no additional furniture.
As slowly as he could, Alec lowered himself on the corner of the bed. However, it was enough to startle Magnus awake.
'Are you deaf? I said I don't have any magic!' the warlock growled.
'And who's fault was that?' Alec snapped back, 'I offered you my strength again, and you refused.'
Magnus seethed, staring hard at the back of his head. 'I don't want anything from you, Shadowhunter.'
Shadowhunter?
Alec turned and gave him an exasperated look, pained by his harsh tone. Magnus had been very 'difficult' ever since he announce his engagement.
Izzy had said there was a fine line between passion and anger. He was beginning to realise what she meant. Perhaps in the secret corner of his soul, when all was quiet and still, Alec did wish things were different but they weren't.
He got up and sat on the cold floor of the safe house, pulling out an arrow, ready to protect the drained warlock from possible attack.
Alec could sense Magnus staring at him again but didn't know what to say. Nothing he said anymore, was right. He jumped though when Magnus pulled on his shoulder. Tentatively he sat on the bed again and propped himself on the headboard.
Did Alec complain when an exhausted Magnus rolled on to his thigh as he slept?
Of course not.
Two
Things became much better between them, when Alec stopped his wedding.
Alec still had a lot to figure out, but by the angel, he would NEVER go back to hiding who he was. He did want to slow down events in his personal life though, especially as matters with his parabati, and Simon and Clary were all over the place.
He and Magnus hadn’t even had a proper date yet!
However, the last thing Alec wanted was for Magnus to pull him under a bed to hide, as they tried to escape Camille’s trap.
Maybe he thought his magic would be too easy to track in his ex-girlfriend’s lair?
In the meantime, Alec thought he was going to die a thousand deaths as Magnus held him close from behind, covering his mouth tightly with one hand.
Oh angel.
Magnus' soft dick was pressed along his crack.
How had he gone from zero male intimacy in his life, to this?!
This wasn’t happening.
‘Stop moving!’ Magnus eyes seemed to say as he looked down at him with a stern expression. They were in trouble here!
Right.
Alec forced himself to stop reacting.
They were working.
Be professional.
Think unsexy thoughts.
Magnus looked down at him. ‘Do you have a hard on?’
‘Wouldn’t you like to know?’ Alec smirked back at him, grinning as he heard Magnus choke.
Three
Magnus sighed as he chased off yet another seelie, with a smile and a shake of his head.
He would put up wards around his bed, if he didn’t think it might offend the seelie queen.
The seelies didn't put meeting delegates in private rooms.
And why would they, with so much beauty all around?
He looked out with a lonely sigh at the other delegates though, some of them taking full advantage of the infamous seelie ‘hospitality.’
In another life, he would never chase away a beautiful seelie who wanted to share his bed. But that was before he met a certain hazel eyed beauty, who was built like a tower.
And speak of the devil.
Magnus stifled his laughter as Alec made a beeline towards him with a desperate look.
When had Alec arrived to the meeting? He didn’t notice him before.
‘CanIshareyourbed?’ Alec blurted out in a panic, ‘they won’t leave me alone.’
Magnus grinned to himself and gave him a flirty wink. ‘Oh, and you think I will?’
‘What?’ Alec said distractedly, eyeing some seelies that were approaching. He sat down and put his hand firmly on Magnus’ knee, breathing a sigh of relief when the seelies nodded in understanding and went away.
‘I feel so used,’ Magnus continued to tease him, and Alec snatched his hand away in horror.
Magnus chuckled enjoying his red face, as he settled down on the mattress and turned his back. ‘Sleep well, my gentle shadowhunter.’
He smiled to himself as Alec eventually lay down, and scooted closer to his back.
It was one of the best nights of sleep he had for a very long time.
Four
Alec couldn’t keep the fierce blush off his face.
Who knew Magnus would react like that? Here was a possessive, jealous side of the warlock he hadn’t even know existed.
Well of course he didn’t.
One date didn’t make you an expert on someone’s life, especially a long one like Magnus’s and his 17, 000 relationships.
He had talked to Magnus beforehand wanting to give him a heads up, so he wouldn’t worry. He was going to be away for a few days, as he been recruited to go undercover on an important mission for the Seelie court.
He and Meliron had just checked into the hotel they were keeping under surveillance. It was now Alec’s turn in the bathroom and he was brushing his teeth, when a portal opened and Magnus appeared.
The prince of hell looked Meliron up and down, with narrowed eyes. Meliorn didn’t even say goodbye, as he bowed and quickly took his leave, while Alec stood there shocked, with his toothbrush still in his mouth.
Magnus snapped his fingers and all Meliron’s clothing disappeared. He snapped them again, and Magnus’ things now filled the narrow wardrobe.
He glanced at Alec with a sheepish expression. ‘Um, I want to be your pretend boyfriend.’
Alec pulled out his toothbrush, ‘yeah, I can see that.’
They then looked a little anxiously at the single bed, between them.
‘I can put up a pillow barrier, so I don’t roll into you again,’ Magnus suggested in concern, as if realizing the position he had placed Alec in. ‘Or I can make two beds?’
Alec shook his head, ‘I trust you, Magnus. We can share, but remember I am here for work, okay? We have to keep focused on mission.’
Magnus volunteered to take first watch, and Alec climbed into bed, shaking his head ruefully at this turn of events.
It was dark, but he was pretty sure Magnus was grinning from ear to ear like the Cheshire cat.
Five
Magnus walked into the guest room, balancing two mugs on of hot chocolate on a tray.
‘Where’s Uncle Alec’s mug?’ Madzie chirped from her place in the middle of the bed, surrounded by all manner of fluffy pillows and unicorn toys.
‘He’s not coming,’ he said softly, as he sat down on the bed.
‘He’s not coming to hear me read?!’ the little girl asked in horror. ‘Why?’
Because he’s a liar! He looked right at me and lied about the soul sword.
‘Was it something I did?’ Madzie asked sadly, hugging her warlock friend tightly around the middle.
Magnus was about to open his mouth to vociferously deny that, when he felt a familiar person pass through his wards.
Magnus was so stunned he didn’t have the words.
The nerve of that shadowhunter.
He should turn him into a toad!
Madzie squealed with joy and pulled her Uncle Alec and Uncle Magnus close to her, as she opened her storybook.
‘You can share my hot chocolate, Uncle Alec,’ she said generously, ‘We didn’t know you were coming.’
‘I would never miss story night,’ Alec replied, not looking at her, as he stared at the side of his boyfriend’s face.
He missed Magnus so much.
In the meantime, he swung his long legs up on the bed, and lay down on Madzie’s pillow as was tradition. His heart beat a little faster, when he saw Magnus avert his eyes quickly.
Had Magnus been looking at him too?
Oh, he hoped he had been!
+1
Alec sat on the edge of the bed, and looked around his old room in the institute. It was the night before his wedding and for SOME reason, he had to sleep in here.
Magnus, Izzy and his mom, had gotten completely carried away with their party planning, in his opinion.
His hand smoothed over the worn dark blanket.
It felt cold.
He didn’t like being in here.
One, it was much too soon to be away from Magnus after he had lost his love for so many weeks to Edom.
And two.
Alec sighed.
He had been sleeping here, ever since Magnus sealed the rift. He couldn’t bear sleeping in their bed without him.
But this was a place of nightmares and sleepless nights of crying into his pillow.
He got out his phone to text Magnus.
He didn’t want to be here all cold and sad on the night before the happiest day of his life. He sat there waiting eagerly on a reply when a familiar whoosh, sounded from behind.
Magnus hugged him close, and Alec let out a satisfied hum as he leaned against his chest. ‘Thank goodness, you messaged! Izzy said this was some important custom, but I missed you darling. Please, can I stay? I can portal out before she even gets here. No one would know.’
Suddenly, they heard a faint warning bell in the distance.
‘Whoops,’ Magnus muttered and Alec laughed, pulling him tightly into his arms and wrapping them up in a blanket.
The room was now perfect.
The end
