Work Text:
"God fucking damn it!" The notification on Blitz's phone goes off again. Cursing it, he pulls it out of his jacket and taps out a quick message before hitting send. Turning it off to keep it quiet, he slips it back into his jacket and keeps running. The sound of the combine tractor roaring through the corn fields after him. The ground shakes from the machine making him stumble. Stupid job! Never should have taken it! Crazy farmers were the worst to deal with! And they always had a ton of giant farm equipment to try and kill them with.
A gunshot makes his ears ring as the head is blown off the scarecrow to his left.
….
Blitz, Millie and Moxxie collapse through the portal back into the office a good 3 hours later. All of them are muddy, bruised and exhausted. Moxxie has a corn cob stuck on one horn, while Blitz’s left foot is still stuck in a smashed pumpkin he stepped in an hour again while running for his life. The broken jack o'lantern face grinning at them all.
“I am plum tuckered out!” Millie says, rolling onto her back.
“I can’t feel my legs,” Moxxie wheezes next to her.
“Good hussle team! Let's call it a day!” Blitz cheers weakly, face down in the rug, unmoving from where he landed. He gets a grunt of exhausted cheers in response.
“Come on, I’ll drop everyone off on the way.” Loona says, scooping the imps up under each arm and heading for the door. It had become obvious to her that other than manning the phones, the other part of her job was picking up the pieces of her coworkers and putting them back together. Or at least bandaging boo boo’s and playing taxi.
After dropping the tired couple off at their apartment, Loona pulls back out onto the road. Blitz barely kept his eyes open in the passenger seat.
“You okay there Blitz?” Loona asks, flipping off the person she just cut off.
“Ya, just tired as fuck.” he says shifting to get comfortable in the seat, eyes closed. The cold glass of the passenger window against his cheek.
“I thought you had to return the book tonight? It's a full moon.” Loona reminds him.
“Fuck me!” Blitz hisses, pulling his phone from his pocket and turning it back on. There are a good few seconds of beeping as missed messages and calls start to come through. Mostly all sexting from the horny owl.
“Drop me off at the palace.” Blitz says with a sigh.
“You sure?”
“It’s fine. I’ll get a cab home.” Blitz says, closing his eyes again.
…..
Blitz somehow manages to scale the side of the palace like he does every full moon night to the balcony. He is welcome to come in through the front door, even the side door, but he feels it’s too bold of a display. Like an announcement that he’s arrived to bang the prince of hell. Stolas did a good enough job of making their relationship public. He didn’t need the tabloids posting his ass walking in the front door.
“Blitzy!! I’m so glad to see you! I was so worried when you would not respond to my messages!” Stolas says happily from his seat at the desk.
“Needed to keep quiet, and your constant texts were getting me shot at!” he growls, setting the book down on the nightstand and walking over to Stolas who was at the desk across the room.
“Sorry about that, I was just so excited for tonight!” Stolas says plucking a bit of hay from Blitz’s shoulder.
“Ya, ya, what you doing?” Blitz asks, looking at the stack of papers on the table. Delicate writing and gold leaf details on every word.
“Sadly I must finish these papers before we can start the fun. If you don’t mind, it shouldn't be more than an hour if you wish to use the bath.” Stolas offers licking his thumb and scrubbing at a spot on Blitz’s horns like a mother hen.
“Sure.” Blitz says, stripping naked and leaving his mud streaked clothes on a side chair as he enters the bathroom. He hops in the shower, glad the expensive plumbing has the temp just right in seconds. One good thing about no fur or feathers is showers are quick! Getting the sweat and dirt off his skin and feeling much more like himself again takes only a few minutes.
The scratches and scrapes on his skin sting when the soap hits them. A few small bruises here and there are starting to form. Probably happened when he had to dive out of the way of the forklift. Blitz stands there for a minute just letting the hot water burn the memories off his skin.
He doesn't bother to dress after his shower, just towel dries. Leaving the bathroom he crawls into the bed and under the sheets to wait for Stolas to join him.
The expensive silk sheets feel amazing against his clean skin and Blitz can’t help but rub his legs together like a cricket. He turns his head to look at Stola. Watching the other demon flip through stacks of paperwork and mumble to himself about legal terms and fine print. The only other sound in the room is from the clock on the mantel slowly ticking away the time. The light from the table lamp casting the entire room in a warm glow.
Blitz yawns again feeling his eyelids growing heavy. He’ll just close his eyes for a moment. No point in laying there watching the other do paper work.
…..
“At last!” Stolas says signing his name at the bottom of the last sheet. He stretches as he stands and goes to the door. Handing the papers to the servant in the hallway he lets his robe fall to the ground as he steps over to the bed.
“Sorry to keep you waiting my darling, now where-'' he stops mid sentence when his eyes land on his little impish play thing. Blitz is dead asleep. His eyelids twitch and his chest rises and falls with a steady rhythm. Stolas sits and watches him. It's rare he gets to witness this. The other usually leaves shortly after their session, leaving Stolas to fall asleep alone. Blitz has never fallen asleep first. Oftentimes arriving at the palace barely standing but still able to fold the owl in half till he’s screaming in languages long dead.
Stolas slips under the sheets as gently as he can so as not to disturb him. Stolas has always worked hard, but nothing like the imp.
Now Stolas just watches. The only sign of life, the odd little twitch, and the steady rise and fall of his chest. He runs his fingers along the length of those horns. Even by demon standards Blitz’s are quite large for his body size. Stolas softly traces the lines between red and white on his visible skin. Such an interesting pattern. Once again his eyes land on the birthmark right in the middle of his forehead. Like a royal crest. Every demon has one, even him. His is located on the back of his left leg, right above the back of the knee. Hidden of course by his feathers, but there nonetheless.
“Mmmm.” Blitz mones in his sleep and Stolas chuckles softly.
“Having sweet dreams my little Blitzy?” Stolas coos watching him. He’s concerned soon however when the imps face contort into a grimace and he whimpers again. His breathing started to speed up.
“Not sweet dreams then,” Stolas says, scooting closer. Softy he starts to stroke Blitz’s cheek.
“It’s alright love. You're safe here.” he says softly. After a few minutes of stroking and petting and soft words Blitz settles down again. His breathing evening out and face relaxing.
Perhaps this is why Blitz never sleeps here. Nightmares must be a common thing for him and he didn’t want Stolas to know.
Moonlight creeps in through the balcony door, casting the room in a warm light. The large palace garden and surrounding grounds make the noise from the city hardly a whisper in the wind.
Placing a soft kiss on his horns, Stolas tucks himself in besides Blitz and drifts off to sleep.
…..
“Blitzy, breakfast is here.” Stolas says softly into Blitz's ear. He rests a hand on his red chest and gently gives a little shake.
“What?” Blitz asks, blinking awake.
“I did not want you to be late for work. So I had the cooks make us breakfast in bed.” Stolas says, waving the servant away as he closes the door behind him. Stolas pushes the cart over to Blitz's side of the bed and sits down next to him.
“I didn’t know what you usually have for breakfast so I got them to make a little of everything.” Stolas explains.
“It’s morning?” Blitz asks, confused looking around. The room is bright with the warmth of the red sun.
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” he asks, pushing himself up to sit on the edge of the bed as Stolas uncovers the plates of food.
“You were out like a light Blitz! You never sleep when you're here, so you must have been exhausted! Besides, paperwork is quite the mood killer for me.” Stolas lies, picking up his tea and taking a sip. “Ahh! Now eat up! You need to be at work in a few hours. Your clothes should be cleaned and dry by then.”
Blitz looks at the spread of food in front of him. Usually his breakfast consisted of iced coffee and whatever leftovers were in the fridge from last night. Usually eaten cold on his drive to work.
On the cart in front of him is pancakes, toast, oranges, coffee, bacon, hash browns, eggs, fruit and cheese.
Blitz starters with the toast with crunchy peanut butter. On the first bite his stomach reminds him he’s not had a thing to eat since lunch the day before. He makes quick work of the toast and is onto the pancakes before he realizes. Blitz pauses mid chew and swallows. Glancing at Stolas who is halfway through a bowl of rainbow colored cereal.
“Stolas?”
“Yes?”
“Thanks… this is nice.” Blitz says returning to eating.
“Anytime darling,” he says, giving the imp a kiss on the horns. The rest of the breakfast is finished in silence. When they are done, Stolas wheels the cart into the hall for the servants to take care of.
“Can I get a quick shower before I go?” Blitz asks, watching Stolas move to his dresser and start looking for something to wear.
“Go right ahead,” he says. Blitz slides off the bed and to the door.
“Hey?” Blitz says standing in the bathroom doorway.
“Yes?” Stolas asks turning his head to look at Blitz,
“You cumming?” Blitz asks with a grin. Stolas practically skips after Blitz into the bathroom for a little morning shower sex.
……
“Good morning everyone!! Ready to get to work!?” Blitz says with a spin as he steps into the office.
“Well someone had a good night.” Millie giggles.
“I did! A full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep!” Blitz announces proudly.
“Did you have to kill Stolas to do it?” Moxxie asks.
“Probably left him tied up in the corner all night with a ball gag.” Millie says with a laugh.
“That makes more sense,” Loona says, not bothering to look up from her phone.
“Actually, that’s not a bad idea.” Blitz says with a grin.
