Work Text:
The weather has changed slightly since the day it started to snow in DMC. There’s been rainy days, and sometimes the wind gets really strong. Vinz wasn’t so bothered by this, but he began to worry about his friend, Lino. After the events of the whole Macho alien ordeal, Vinz learned that Lino is more sensitive to the cold than a normal person. Beforehand, he had just assumed that Lino didn’t like to be cold, but now it turns out that he could actually die if it was way too cold.
Weather forecasts have said that it might rain today, and the sky showed it with its dark grey clouds. Vinz had noticed this when walking to work. He only hoped Lino would be alright— if he ever left the apartment.

Lino rummaged through the pantry, looking for the pet food he usually gave the roaches. He had looked through just about all of the cabinets before realizing they ran out yesterday.
“Damn it! How could I forget?” Lino looked over to the couple of roaches waiting patiently. “Don’t worry guys, I’m gonna go get more food.” Lino hopped off the stool they had in the kitchen and grabbed his things before walking out the front door. Luckily, he managed to grab a jacket before heading out; he had seen the sky outside and didn’t want to be left unprepared.
Walking to the little store down the street, Lino took note of the cool air. It wasn’t so bad, but he had a feeling that it could be colder if it started raining. He made sure to be quicker than usual. Keeping his gaze locked on the sidewalk, he watched for any sudden pitter-pattering of raindrops. Fortunately, nothing happened!
On the way back from the store, however, things would not get so lucky. Holding tightly onto a grocery bag, Lino speed-walked back to the apartment. He felt a drop of something on his head and looked up for once, up at the sky. Raindrops pelted down from the cloudy sky, scattered across the city.
“Agh, shit.” Lino mumbled, starting to move faster. The quicker he went, the more the rain fell, and eventually, it was full on pouring. Lino clutched the grocery bag close to protect its contents from the rain. He only wished he had something to protect himself. Pulling the hood of his jacket over his head, His body felt ice cold, and despite his attempts, his movements got slower.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck! I have to take shelter.” Lino looked around, and noticed an awning above a building. Running towards it, he dropped heavily against the wall. Lino set the bag down and wrapped his arms around himself, sliding down into a curled up sitting position.
Looks like he'll have to wait out the storm.

Vinz walked through the rain from work. He was lucky enough to have been given an umbrella so he wouldn’t come home looking like he swam a mile. Vinz looked around the nearly empty streets as everyone had taken cover from the rain. There aren’t many people out, Vinz thought. Except for Lino hiding under the awning— wait what? Doing a double take, Vinz saw his friend shivering against a wall.
“Lino! What’re you doing, man?”
“I was g—getting food for the roaches… now it’s raining.” Lino stammered as he looked up at his pal.
“Dude, you could’ve called me or something.” Vinz offered a hand out to Lino, who took it gratefully as he held his grocery bag in the other hand. “Here, my flame hasn’t died out because I have this umbrella. So I’m quite warm.” Vinz wrapped an arm around Lino, hugging him the best he could to keep his friend warm.
When the two got back to their apartment, Lino dove straight into a giant spare blanket they had. Looks like Vinz will have to feed the roaches then.
