It was currently nighttime, and all the remaining students gathered around for Monokumas announcement inside the gym. Everyone was still processing what they had witnessed after the trial, and now they were immediately dragged out of their rooms to here.
Makoto had been the last one to get there.
Just as Makoto entered the gym, Monokuma jumped up onto the stage to reveal himself.
“Why have you brought us here now? It’s nighttime isn’t it? You even made the announcement!” Hina called out, definitely tired from being dragged out of bed.
“Hey, don’t be so rude! I’m simply just here to say some important things. Like thanking you all for finally completing that boooring trial.”
The bear dramatically sighed, but quickly moved on.
“Now! Time to reveal the next motive!”
Monokuma yelled out through the gym.
“Already? But, shouldn’t you wait like a few days to reveal the motive?”
Yasuhiro questioned the bear, scratching his head.
“Maybe, but I’m just so bored after that long and tedious trial! And this motive is very exciting for me! Puhuhuhu~”
Monokumas laughter made Makoto sick, but it wasn’t gonna make him lose hope. What sick and twisted motive was he gonna show them now?
“This ones called: the despair disease!”
The students audibly showed their confusion.
“Yes, the despair disease! When someone is infected by the despair disease, their personality will change drastically, and so will their behavior! The cure will only be given if someone is killed, or you could find it on your own! That is, if the infected students don’t kill first~” the demonic teddy bear laughed again.
Multiple voices silently rang out around the room. Despair disease? What was it? How would it affect them? Is it even true?
“And how exactly are we gonna get infected by this disease?” Kyoko questioned, making sure her voice was loud enough to be heard through the various other students.
Monokuma just laughed again. “Oh, that’s easy! As each day passes, one of you will get infected. It’s like one of those cliche zombie movies~!”
Everyone was still very confused, but it didn’t seem like Monokuma was gonna elaborate any further.
“Well then, time to get back to your dorms! I can’t wait to see the look on your faces tomorrow!” And so, he disappeared. The students were left in utter confusion.
“Despair disease, huh?” Hina seemed nervous, looking around at the 12 other students.
“It sounds dangerous.. What if it’s fatal?” Chihiro was more frightened, by the sound of her voice at least.
“I’m sure it’s not fatal. Monokuma only said it changed our personality and behavior, right? I’m sure we can find a cure for it!” Makoto reassured everyone. It seemed that the ultimates were a bit more confident now, but even Makoto had his doubts.
“I wouldn’t be so sure.” Byakuya had to step in and ruin everything as he made his way out the gym before everyone else.
Makoto took a quick glance at the other students, and could see that they were all unsure of what’s to come. And who could blame them?
As the 12 remaining classmates made their way back to the dorms, a small wave of tension had washed over them all. But Makoto was still hopeful.
He made sure to prepare himself for this new motive to come into play.
Then the next day came along.
