Patrick teared up during the first kiss with his new husband. Not that they were entirely dry before, but they had yet to spill over until now. Their eyes locked as he pulled back and he thought of their first kiss. It had made him feel like everything he wanted was finally in plain view.
And now, this kiss cemented their future. It would be the catalyst for a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams. They grinned at each other for a moment before they turned to face their guests.
Everyone stood to clap and cheer at them in celebration. They each placed a hand on the other’s back as they took their first steps as husbands.
He gave a side glance to his father who clapped and smiled brighter than the sun. He smiled at his mother who looked pleased that he'd be in good hands from now on. He always had been; she just never knew.
His smile widened and his chest puffed out in pride as he gazed at David. He watched as he took his bouquet of flowers back from Alexis. He’d never seen David this happy and he intended for it to stay that way.
They continued down the aisle toward a life neither of them thought was possible. He smiled and nodded his head at guests as they passed by. He was taken aback when he saw Ronnie looking straight at him.
He remembered her response when she heard of their engagement. So wait a minute. He’s marrying you? She used both thumbs to wipe away tears and he chuckled. She winked at him and he beamed because he knew it was an unspoken truce.
