Work Text:
The day had been perfect, lounging on the enormous beach towel laid out for her husband to avoid the hot sand. Ahsoka playing with the twins, tiring them or more likely, tiring herself. The ebb and flow of the waves sounded like music to her ears.
Padmé adjusted the towel under her neck, shimmying down the blanket and turning on her side. Anakin leaned over her shoulder. “You really shouldn’t look this good just lying here, reading on a beach,” he said.
“Go away, you’re so distracting!” She giggled, swatting at him with her book.
He kissed her shoulder. “Distracting because of my good looks and charm?”
She rolled over, raising her eyebrows. “Your what?”
His jaw dropped before she erupted in laughter. “Woman, you wound me!”
“You’re so dramatic—" She started, shoving his shoulder.
“Heads up!” A child’s voice called as a football came flying toward them.
Padmé’s eyes went wide before Anakin smacked it away at the last minute. Anakin looked over his shoulder to see his godson’s face, bright red, probably from a mixture of the sun and embarrassment.
“I told you! Be mindful, you have no business—”
“Oh, chill out, grandpa!” Anakin called to Obi-Wan with a wave of the hand, rising to his feet to chase the small ball. He gripped and spun it around in his hands, making a few practice swings with his arm. “Korkie, you wanna do something fun against your dad?”
“Yeah!” he exclaimed, running to Anakin.
Anakin hoisted the boy up on his shoulders, pointing the ball at his friend walking toward them. “Two-on-one touch football, Padmé keeps score. You’re going down old man!”
She set her book aside. “How did ‘Padmé’ get roped into this game?”
“Oh, why do I have such a bad feeling about this…” Obi-Wan sighed.
