Work Text:

“I have… two corn dogs, one bucket of fries, one funnel cake for my lovely wife – extra powder sugar, and one unnecessary cone of cotton candy for my children to make messes of. Right?” Anakin asked, struggling to balance all the food in his hands.

“Right!” Ahsoka said, snatching away one corn dog and a handful of fries, helping with nothing else.

Padmé shook her head, adjusting a sleeping Luke in her lap as she took the fried treat from him, “Thank you. And only one of your children right now wants to make a mess,” she added, pointing an elbow to Leia running up and down the boardwalk with Obi-Wan on her trail.

“Princess!” He called, his bucket of fries spilling as he lifted a hand to cup around his mouth.

“Dadadadadada!” She chanted, running clumsily as fast as her very short legs would take her.

“I’m not sure who has who more spoiled when it comes to the two of you,” Padmé laughed softly as Luke stirred.

Ahsoka sat down next to her, “I’d say it’s a coin toss. He looks at her the way she’s looking at that cotton candy.”

Padmé pulled off a bit of the sugary, swirled treat for Leia standing open-mouthed in front of them as Anakin sat beside her.

“Or maybe Leia has the both of you wrapped around her finger equally,” Ahsoka quipped as she quickly tore off a chunk of Padmé’s funnel cake and leaped away before she could react.

His wife’s eyes went wide, her ears turning red, and he couldn’t resist snickering. No one messes with her food. Ahsoka was as good as dead.

"If I wasn't holding Luke right now..."

Leia patted his leg for more as he pinched off another bite. “You could just take Ahsoka ‘out back’ during the fireworks, no one would be the wiser,” he nudged her hip. The younger woman’s eyes now as wide as Padmé’s.

“Don’t tempt me,” she grinned.

Satine walked over followed by Obi-Wan, carrying Korkie on his back, “Who’s taking who where for what?”

“Ahsoka has a death wish. Not important,” he waved a hand. “Gonna grab food before the show starts?”

“We should. The usual?” Obi-Wan asked, Korkie jumping down. His wife nodded taking her seat in the row in front of them. “Be right back, dear!”

She turned, “Have your littles ever seen fireworks?”

“Nope, this should be fun!”

Padmé rolled her eyes, “Sure, fun.”

Anakin shoved the last of his fries in his mouth, holding the cotton candy away as his daughter struggled to climb into his lap. “As you can see, mama is thrilled about it.”

Satine pressed her lips together, smiling, “Padmé, your children are perfect. They’re going to love it.”

“Fear not,” he bounced Leia on his leg, “She has all the protective gear imaginable if they don’t.”

“Make fun all you want. When they’re both scared and screaming, I’ll make sure to be somewhere else."

"We'd be lost without you."

"I know."
