Chapter Text
After a talk with the entire crew, they decided who was going to be with Tommy, Techno, and Wilbur. Besides the captain, of course, because he had been slacking off on other things, other people needed to look after them for a while. Obviously, Niki would go, since she knew the most about Sirens, and also occasionally Tubbo and Ranboo. Dream heavily disagreed and went full mother hen on them talking about how they could injure themselves, and ‘I don’t know what I would do if you got hurt, and you would be in so much trouble Philza just snorted and gave them the job.
Techno was the first to wake up, and Niki was in the room when he did. His pupils looked almost gone when he saw Niki, just slits in his eyes, well just one eye. The other, Niki now knew was blind. Techno flares his gills and fins, baring his teeth and growling at her in a warning. Niki tried her best to relax her posture, and she gave him a smile and pointed to the other side of the tank.
Hearing Niki explaining it to the crew, she broke out into smiles and giggles every time she mentioned it. Techno saw Tommy rush towards him, and his pupils immediately dilated as Tommy crashed into his arms and hugged him, burying his face into Techno's scarred chest. It was so very clear that they were delighted to see each other as Techno wrapped his arms around Tommy’s smaller frame. Tommy squealed and started making squeaking and trill noises. He wiggled out of Technos grip and swam to the other side of the tank, Niki's eyes followed him to see that he was picking up buttons and blankets. He rushed back to Techno's side to show off the buttons and blankets, Techno scowled and growled at the sight of the objects, and he tore apart one of the blankets that Tommy brought over.
Niki gasped and started speed walking towards where Tommy was, speaking soft reassurances, and that he could get a new blanket. Tommy was already crying little pearls down his face letting out distraught noises. It broke Niki's heart seeing Tommy like that. Techno at this point looked conflicted, he floated there trying to reach out to try and comfort Tommy but not touching him. He saw Niki close to the tank scooped Tommy in his arms and growled at her making sure to bare his teeth. It was a warning, and Niki knew to listen to it. She relaxed her tense shoulders and backed off slowly from the tank. She kept her head down and then sat on the floor. She could still hear Tommy’s sniffles from across the room. After sitting there for a while she heard a little bit of splashing and water droplets were found on her head. She looked up with an amused look on her face. The culprit was of course Tommy, with a small rubber fish in his hands, and a huge smile on his face. Techno was in the corner of the tank watching warily as Tommy and Niki played around with some more stuff. Buttons, the red; fish toy, keys, and coins.
The longer they played together the calmer Techno was about Tommy playing with a human with human stuff. The woman had blonde hair like Tommy. And she didn’t have any needles or knives on her, so Techno wasn’t as worried about Tommy getting hurt. But it has been 3 Siren years since they got separated from each other. He wanted to shower Tommy in affection for a really long time. But right from the get-go, he kept beating himself up over making Tommy cry, he still didn’t know what to do, since his other brother was still asleep. The situation about Wilbur though, was that Techno saw him once every week. He was never fed well, and never got rest since he performed in front of petty, and moronic humans. Techno was fortunate to get as much food as he wanted. (Which was never enough for what he did while in captivity)
Techno snapped his head to the side of him when he heard groaning. Wilbur had started waking up. Tommy perked up his dorsal fins and also looked in the direction of the noise. Niki's eyes widened and she immediately ran out of the room barking orders to random crew members.
“Prepare the food!”
“Get Tubbo and Ranboo in the room!”
“I need a pen and paper!”
“Tell Captain Philza that both Sirens are awake!”
Wilbur slowly opened his eyes, squinting at the e massive amounts of light. He put his head down again in exhaustion, and with steady breaths, Wilbur really wanted to go back to sleep again. Techno ran fingers through Wilbur’s hair and started warbling softly, questioning whether or not he was okay. Wilbur started to hear shouts, it sounded like English to him. And immediately he sat straight up, growling and hissing at the open wooden door to the room.
A woman with blonde hair peeps her head around the corner, and Wilbur bares his teeth as he shrieks and roars at her. Techno immediately started rumbling and brought Wilbur close to him, hugging the distressed Siren. He struggled to get out of Technos grip and not go lax in his arms, but it got harder and harder to do so when the rumbling was so comforting. The woman comes closer to the tank, Wilbur looks away and buries his head into Technos chest, chirping nervously and whimpering. Something plonks into the water, and when Wilbur looked away he saw a big clam right in front of him. He races to grab it and starts trying to pry open the shell. But, unfortunately, while in captivity, his claws and even his canine teeth were permanently worn down and he had no way to pry open the shell.
Niki notices Wilbur’s difficulty getting the shell open and gets a clam to start cracking open. Once she gets the clam open, there’s a snap resonating through the room. All attention goes to Niki. She throws the open clam into the tank. She bows and steps away. Wilbur warily watches the clam sink to the bottom, looks up to Niki, and then starts to sniff the clam. He pries the meat part of the clam and starts chewing it.
She tosses more open clams, and fish to the two Sirens, when she hears curious clicking coming from the other side of the tank. When she looked over it was Tommy, he looked at her and pointed to where she threw the clams. Niki nodded and smiled. She makes a cup with her hands and closes it, she does that a couple of times before Niki makes waves with her hand. Tommy makes waves with his hand and Niki throws him to fish in his direction and it makes a small ‘plonk’ sound when it hits the water.
Wilbur on the other side of the tank snapped his head towards where the fish made the drop. He gasped and dropped his clam, putting his hands over his mouth. Wilbur looked like he was on the verge of crying at the sight of Tommy. He warbled softly and inched closer and closer to where Tommy was, Tommy looked up from his (very much finished) fish and dropped the skeleton. Wilbur raced to Tommy and brought him into an enormous hug. Tears were falling out of Wilbur's eyes, he kept on making sounds, warbling, and clicking. Short gasps and sobs echoed in the room, as Techno also came close to Wilbur and Tommy ending up in a group hug. You couldn’t even see Tommy anymore from how Wilbur and Techno created a shield around him. Niki felt she was intruding so she bowed and silently left the room, closing the door behind her.
