Work Text:
“Let us dance. The earth is going about what may be its last orbit and we cannot simply stay put.” Dazai said, standing up from the ground.
The sky above them was littered with bright asteroids, hurtling through space and coming directly for Earth.
It was a beautiful scene despite the fact that it was going to be humanity's demise. The world was going to crash in on itself, cave in, and be destroyed. People all over were panicking but here, on the roof of the tallest building in Yokohama, Fyodor almost felt peaceful.
“Why dance? Why can’t we just watch the world cave in on itself?” He was much more interested in enjoying his last moment in the company of Dazai, he didn’t really care if they were to dance or not but he wanted to start a conversation.
“It would be more fun than simply staying put and seeing the world end. So let's dance. Dance with me because we would never have another chance to do so again.” Dazai smiled gently at him.
Fyodor agreed and got up.
“Shall we?” Dazai extended a hand, to which Fyodor accepted.
“I've never danced before.” The Russian admitted.
“Neither have I.” Dazai grinned
With their hands on each other, bodies, a simple tune only they shared playing on repeat inside their heads.
The sky was a mix of reds, purples, and blues.
It reminded Dazai of Fyodor’s eyes. The hues of violet and cool blues paired with the red that speckled in the reflection.
Dazai wanted it to be the last thing he saw before he died.
And it was. As they swayed to the beat of a song only they knew to tune to, eyes locked on each other as the asteroids hit the ground around them.
Right above them was the final show. The kill shot. It was twice the size of the moon and it would kill them.
But Dazai didn't mind.
Fyodor was with him, in his final moments and he wouldn't have it any other way.
As the world came to an end, Fyodor and Dazai smiled.
Till death do us part.

There was a loud bang and a flash of light.
Silence.
It was over.
But it was beautiful while it lasted, and it ended spectacularly.
