Work Text:

“You’re gonna make me a vampire”. The words sweetened in his mouth as he spoke them. It felt like he had waited years for this moment. And he had. Nandor would never make him a vampire. He knew that. He had always stayed, hoping to be turned by the man he loved, so they could be together for eternity. Now he knew that was a mere fantasy. No one would pay any mind to him unless he made a change. Derek was the catalyst to that change. Derek, someone he once considered a threat to his family. Derek, the one he failed to save, and now Derek, the one to save him.
“I— I don’t know how to do that,” said Derek. He was telling the truth. Guillermo knew he didn’t have the wits to lie about that. Guillermo sighed. “You want the money?”
“Of course.”
“Then I’ll walk you through it.
Guillermo explained to Derek what he would have to do. It took a few minutes, but Derek (and Guillermo) were ready.
Guillermo unbuttoned his top as he had once done for Nandor on the night of their 10th anniversary, and then….

*CRONCH*

The pain was unbearable, but the thought of what was to come helped to soothe it ever so slightly. He could feel the blood pulsing through every last one of his veins as they quickly emptied, soon to show no sign that there was ever any blood within them at all. He tried to let out a piercing scream, but nothing came out. He’d be dead soon.
“Derek, please, do it now….”, he spoke with a rasping breath.

Derek bit into his own arm with a force greater than that of an alligator, and the blood began to pour from his body.

Drip. Drip. Drip. It was like nothing he had ever tasted. He felt like a thirsting traveler in an endless desert who had finally found his oasis. The flavors blended together in his mouth, created a taste that can only be described as ecstasy. But even sweeter than that was knowing he would no longer be shackled by the fetters of his mortality, and his so-called “friends” who had always humiliated and belittled him. His friends who, until recently, had never bothered to learn his name.

“Guillermo De La Cruz.” He awoke on an old futon in the back room of the shop. Derek sat there waiting, worried. But Guillermo could also see a glimmer of joy in his eyes. Maybe it was the money. Or maybe it was the thought of having a friend to share his gift with. Who knew? All Guillermo needed was to show the world the new him. Right after he finished puking into that garbage can.
