Camping trip gone wrong

Summary:

When a camping trip gets spoiled by a certain baddie, the two twins awake at the time get to fight a little.

Notes:

I am not sure if this will be an enjoyable fiction, due to it being my first, and I just kind of went with this one. I know how much everyone loves the angsty stories, so I’m planing on making one once I get the hang of all this. Criticism is welcome, enjoy!

Work Text:

Donnie was the last one to step out of the turtle tank. “And be good, boys!” Splinter said, as he was about to close the door, Mikey asked “Why can’t you come with us?” The look on Micheals face was one Splinter was familiar with, it was the puppy eyes. “I have a few movies to catch up on. Have fun, Orange!” And with that, he closed the door and drove off.

“Alrighty, friends! This-a-way!” Todd spoke enthusiastically, as always. Donnie groaned and followed with his brothers, eyes attached to his phone.

Leo slung his arm around Donnie’s shoulder and leaned on him. “So, Don-don, what do you think of the great outdoors? Fun, isn’t it?”

Donatello was too focused on whatever he was doing on his phone to respond. So naturally Leo looked at what he was doing. “Are you playing sudoku? Seriously, how do you live?” He snatched it up and started tapping the screen, keeping it out of reach as Donnie tackled him.

Raph looked behind him to the twins, Mikey on his back, and sighed. “Leo, give it back. Donnie, it’s a camping trip. Enjoy nature, not your phone.”

The purple-clad turtle successfully gained his phone back, pocketing it. “Enjoy nature, without my phone? Does he even know me?” Donnie threw his arms out dramatically. Leo stifled a giggle.

They soon arrived to an open spot in the forest, Todd smiled and announced “We are at our destination, deploy the tents!”

Raph, who was carrying the supplies, that consisted of tents, chairs, and sleeping bags, set them down. Mikey was the one with the snacks. Everyone chose their own tents, color coded obviously, and started setting them up.

”Hey Raph, a little help here?” The slider asked, once Raphael set his up.

”Where’s Todd sleeping?” Mikey asked after setting up his sticker covered tent. Todd, who seemed to pop out of no where, pointed at a hammock, smile on his face.

Donnie finished up with his purple tent and set out a chair, sitting in it and pulling out his phone. After a few seconds it was snatched. “We’re here to have fun! It’s getting dark, how about we start up the campfire.” Todd exclaimed, handing back the phone after realizing the shift in day.

After making the campfire, setting out marshmallows and other s’more ingredients, and all that ‘fun’, the turtles and the capybara headed to their tents, and hammock.

Donnie settled into his sleeping bag, and pulled out his phone, scanning over some texts between him and April.

8:56pm

April😺:donnie! where are you guys? I checked the lair but splints was only there

Bootyyyshaker9000:Apologies April, Raph decided we should go on a trip with Todd.

April😺:and you didn’t think to bring me?

Bootyyyshaker9000:It wasn’t exactly my choice.

Donnie stopped reading when he heard some shuffling outside his tent. Getting up from his sleeping bag and latching on his battle shell, he peeked out of his tent.

In the center of all the tents, near the campfire, was none other than Meat sweats. He was grabbing the s’more ingredients and putting them in a brown bag.

It wouldn’t have been Donnie’s problem, if Meat Sweats didn’t start walking towards his tent. The soft shell started backing up, eyeing for where he left his tech bo.

There was silence, other than the footsteps coming closer. They stopped and Donnie held his breath. Suddenly he heard a light ‘click’ and before he knew it, the tent collapsed and he was getting rolled up. Thrashing around, he felt his tech bo on his plastron, and he grabbed it, turning on the chainsaw feature and cut himself out of the burrito of a tent.

The sound of the revving must have woke Leo up, because as Meat Sweats dropped his bag and thrashed down with his hammer, a spark of a portal appeared and Leo kicked the former chef away.

“You little vermin!” Meat Sweats spit out in his heavy Australian accent, rubbing his cheek.

Ignoring the pig, he smirked at Donnie. “Having trouble barbecuing Porker here, Don-tron?”

”Lo, sure looks that way, does it not, ‘Nardo?”

“Can it, the both of ya! It’s goin ta be turtle soup tonight.” He slammed his hammer into the campfire, throwing burning logs and splinters at the two.

Dodging the attack, Donnie switched his bo to the rockets and spun it in his hands, attacking back and landing a few hits before getting hit with the hammer in his side that threw him into a tree.

Leo took his chance to open up a portal above the pig mutant, and landed on his shoulders, riding him like one would on the villains in some movies. Steering him this way and that, Leo finally took in what they had to deal with. Small space and not enough room for a real fight.

Deciding he’s had his fun, Leonardo opened a portal underneath him and Meat Sweats. They appeared on the other side of the forest, and the slider hopped off, pointing finger guns at the angered chef, and fell back into a portal.

Donnie recovered quickly, and was already stomping on the small growing fire from the logs.

The next day came quickly, and the brothers parted with Todd as splinter rolled up with the turtle tank. Taking one look at Leo and Donnie, he said “What happened to you two? You look like zombies! Yeesh.”

Donnie and Leo just looked at each other and shrugged.

”Long night.” Donatello said.

And they drove home.

Notes:

Sorry if it was short and out of character. I’m trying my best to get the hang of this. If anyone has any tips or tricks I could use, I’ll gladly take some! I’m trying to get better, and I hope you enjoyed my extremely short story.
