Chapter Text
Prologue
Merlin has wings and he keeps them hidden. Arthur knows but not because Merlin told him but because he found out when overhearing Gius saying
“Merlin for god's sake please be more careful with those wings of yours”
And so Arther decided to follow Merlin on one of his nighttime outings, they were the most extraordinary thing that Arthur’s ever seen, and he knows that he can never truly look at them without wanting to reach out and touch them. They are a marvel of a feat and add to his natural charm and beauty. And if they were any other colour, Arthur could easily mistake them for an angel’s wings, but they aren’t. It’s the exact shade of black that one would expect from a raven’s feathers, and that is what makes Merlin so unique and wonderful. Arthur spends his time wondering if and when merlin would tell him. He also wonders whether Merlin is hiding anything else.
Like a secret identity? Or something that can change into a different person whenever you like.
He has asked Merlin about it once, “Do you have a name beside Merlin?” and Merlin had just given a strange smile before answering,
"No, why do you ask?"
Arthur had replied nonchalantly enough, “Just curious.” And so it stays at that.
The only real way to find out is if Merlin wants to tell Arthur himself. But Arthur doesn't know if Merlin even likes men (and women) or even if he likes Arthur in particular and Arthur isn't stupid; he knows that a dragonlord, would not want to be with him as his father basically killed most of the dragon lords.
