That's Boring, Angel

Summary:

Aziraphale is doing crosswords while laying on Crowley. The demon doesn't find it interesting at first, however, his attitude quickly changes.

Work Text:

It was a lovely evening. The busy roads of London went finally quiet. The Sun had already set so it mean a before sleep nap time for Crowley. He sprawled on Aziraphale's sofa and stretched, making himself comfortable. The bookshop felt really cosy and ideal to relax in.

Suddenly, when the demon was on the edge of sleeping, he felt a familiar weight on his chest. He didn't even have to open his eyes to identify that person who interrupted his nap.

"Angel, I'm trying to sleep," he said and felt his cheek being tickled by the blond locks. "Couldn't you find yourself a different place to... erm, what are you actually doing?" he asked, opening his eyes and seeing a thin book in Aziraphale's hands. However, it could be hardly described as a book. It didn't have sentences but little squares with other little squares that had somethings inside them.

"That's a crossword, my dear," the angel explained. "And I'm afraid there's no other places to sit or lay on," he pointed out and just when Crowley wanted to look at the armchair that was standing right in the opposite of the sofa, it was miracled away. The demon only smirked. His angel was getting cheeky.

"So what is that you do with your crossword?" he asked.

Aziraphale smiled and started explaining. "So here." He pointed at a square with something written inside of it. "You have a description of a word that has to fit in these squares below. For example the Holy Garden, four letters."

"Eden, that's boring, angek," Crowley said casually and didn't pay much attention to Aziraphale's entertainment. Instead, he was playing with his soft hair.

With time, the ginger was focusing more on the crossword. He didn't get enough confidence yet to actually suggest something but when he saw his lover struggling with one last word, he needed to help.

"August," he spoke up and grabbed the pen from the angel's hand and wrote the correct word. He then went to the next riddle and started solving it himself, forgetting that it was actually Aziraphale's activity.

Not that the angel minded. He, in fact, found it very amusing to watch his demon focusing on something so much.

Eventually, they swapped places so that Crowley was laying on Aziraphale, still solving the next riddles. From time to time he would ask the angel for help but most of it he had sliced himself which he was really proud of.

"You're doing very good, my dear," the blond said to tease his lover a bit.

"Oh shush now," Crowley replied and blushed but continued his activity. Aziraphale, on the other hand, kissed him on his head and closed his eyes, enjoying the peaceful evening.
