Summary
There are only two types of people in Pelican Town: people that want to be there and people that don't. Jia finds herself firmly in the latter. She had never wanted the inheritance her Grandpa had left behind, had no use for the useless, dilapidated farm he gave to her. But after all the messes she created in the city, she finds herself reeling from the consequences of her actions. Jia needs a new place to stay - someplace where nobody knows her name or what she's done. Somewhere she can be alone, like she knows she deserves. She moves to her Grandpa's farm with only one goal in mind: Work. Work until she has so much money no one can touch her anymore. All Jia wants to do is keep her head down and be left alone.
Until she meets Sam.
The typical boy-next-door has his eye on her for whatever reason and comes into her life like a comet, trying to light up all the stars in her night sky. Sam is pushy, maddeningly cheerful and incredibly optimistic, all the things Jia hates. But even she can't help but be drawn to the little bits of sunshine he brings to her days. Together, the pair discover the magic of the valley, learning more about each other and themselves, while doing their best to leave the past behind.
