Chapter 4: The Feelings

Summary:

Getting a tattoo was easy, right?

Especially when it has weird energy coming off of it?

Chapter Text

Getting a tattoo was easier than Stiles expected, once you get past the needles. He was looking at the symbol in the mirror feeling some sort of energy coming off of it. What the hell. Rubbing his hand over the plastic that protected the ink he felt the energy stronger.

“Are you just going to look in the mirror all day or come eat dinner?”

Stiles saw his dad leaning against the doorway in the mirror when he looked up. “Yeah I’m coming. Can you do something first?”

The look his dad gave him told him to keep talking. “Place your hand on top of the ink for a second.” Noah sighed and put his right hand against the plastic that was just below the collar bone. “What do you feel?” Stiles cringed, realising how weird that sounded.

“Warmth which is from the irritated skin that is trying to heal.” Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

Giving a short hum Stiles put his shirt back on. “What time is it?”

            “6:30. Now come and eat.”

By the time 7:45 came Stiles was already standing at Scott’s door. I really need to get a key for myself. Or just make one. As Stiles was thinking over how to make a key Scott opened the door. “Dude, did you see the history project?” That’s my greeting?!?

“Yeah the one that was due a week ago,” Stiles responded while stepping through the door.

Scott turned around from closing the door behind Stiles looking ready to respond, but didn’t. The look Scott gave Stiles was curiosity and bewilderment at the same time. “Earth to Scott.” Stiles looked at him questioningly.

With no answer Stiles followed Scott’s line of sight to a part of his left shoulder that showed the wrapping. “Oh”

            “What is that?”

“Let's just go up to your room and I’ll show you.”

Quickly running up the stairs and into Scott’s room Stiles sat down on the bed while Scott closed the door. “So what is it?”

Stiles sighed and pulled down his shirt to reveal the inked skin under the collar bone. His hand sat there for a second before letting the shirt go.

“Wow,” Scott whispered, “So what does it mean and I thought you were deathly afraid of needles.”

“It's a protection thingy and like my family crest apparently. As for the needles I just did it blindfolded.” and knocked out, but Scott didn’t need to know that.

“Is this the religious thing you were talking about?” So he does listen .

Stiles looked around the room seeing if anything changed since he’s been in the room while answering, “Yeah. All the research I found said something about an anti-possession ward.”

Scott, still standing by the door, just looked confused. “An anti-what?”

“Possession like the stories of people being possessed by demons or spirits.”

       “Those aren’t real though.”

“I know that so maybe my parents were religious or something.” Stiles felt it was more of the latter, he was begging it to be something, but he didn’t know why. “That’s not all.”

Standing up and walking over to Scott he pulled the shirt back down. “Put your hand on it.”

Stiles could see the gears turning in Scott’s head then stop. “What?”

“Put your hand on it.” Stiles repeated a bit more impatiently.

Giving Stiles a concerned look Scott put his and on the wrapped ink. “Ok. Now what do you feel?”

      “Warmth.”

Stiles nodded at Scott as if to keep going. “Not like a heat warmth, but like getting a hug from your parents warmth.” The more Scott held his hand on the ink the more concerned he got.

“That’s what I thought.” Stiles said, pulling away and letting the shirt go.

      “I think we’re imagining things.”

     “What?”

“I mean like how can a tattoo make you have those feelings? I think something is off.”

“What's off?” Stiles looked offended but mostly confused.

“I don’t know, just the longer my hand was on it the more intense the heat got. Like it was trying to burn me.”

Now Stiles was fully confused because all he could feel was that nice feeling of being protected by a parent. “Maybe because you’re not me.”

Scott looked at him sceptically, but didn’t say anything, just choosing to shake his head and ask Stiles what movie he wanted to watch.
