10 lives.
They each had 10 lives.
Every time they died, they would be reborn into someone, some thing new. Then, they’d go out into the world, and build a new life while learning (or not, for some) from the old.
Lizzie never lasted long. Every time she had grown old enough to leave her home and reunite with her friends in their new origins, she always died soon after.
The void. The void again. Lauren. A stupid fish of all things!
And, most recently, a zombie had been the one to take her life.
She had only been a birb for a little bit, or at least what was considered a little bit to them. She had grown, learned how to fly, and left the nest, which certainly was no small amount of time. But, considering her new life truly began when she left the nest, she had only been a birb for about 12 minutes, tops.
And now she was something new. And something old.
She was an enigma. Creatures born from chaos, creatures of the void, and wow, wasn’t that just a bit of lovely irony?
Lizzie’s origin may have been new, but about 60% of her form was not.
Her arms were green and slimy, like a goolien. Her left leg was a bird's. Her right one looked like a kangaroo. Her outfit was the same as when she was a Floran, and flowers bloomed in her hair. She had a raccoon tail.
The only new things were her demon horns, her red eyes, and her new abilities.
She could kill people by staring at them for long enough. She could go invisible. She could go through the floor. She had permanent night vision. She could teleport. She could see people through walls.
The only two downsides?
She couldn’t fight mobs with weapons, and…
… And everybody hated her. And she did mean everybody.
The villager kids she used to play with when she was a kangaroo? They cried when she came, screamed instead of laughed, and the adults came with pitchforks and weapons to drive her out.
And her friends? The ones who could understand the pain of constantly dying and coming back as something new? Well…
They didn’t quite hate her, but they certainly didn’t appreciate her presence anymore. They’d find excuses to leave, flinch when she approached, and screamed at her when she kept her gaze in one place for too long. Even Joel couldn’t bear her presence anymore.
She found a blindfold to wear, but that didn’t fix anything. Nothing got better. Even though it just made it harder for Lizzie to see, impaired her vision, made it more vulnerable, she did it for them.
And it didn’t even matter.
And that’s when she decided that if they wanted her to be evil, she’d BE evil.
Back when she was a kangaroo, they always joked that her next life would be just as mischievous, just as tricky as her current one. Oh, how wrong they would be. She’d be worse.
Pranks turned into arson, violence, broken homes. Pranks became crimes, and laughter turned into screaming. And Lizzie found that she didn’t hate it as much as she thought she would. Committing crimes was fun.
Lizzie didn’t have a juvenile phase, unlike her previous lives. She came into the world an amalgamation, a monster, an enigma. That meant she was instantly ready to commit atrocities.
And one day, as she lounged in her lair, she killed her first person.
More accurately, she killed her first angel.
Scott was an angel, and a beloved one at that. It made her furious. She tried so hard to get them to be comfortable around her, and here he was, so effortlessly loved just because he was pretty, shiny, and had wings.
Lizzie didn’t believe in the gods, but if she did, she would think that their hearts were just as stained and impure and tainted as hers was. Because everyone, even supposed gods, lacked purity in their hearts.
If Scott was really pure, he wouldn’t shun her just because of her origin, but he did. Because he was prejudiced and weak and scared , and that made him pathetic.
So she stared at him. She had caught a glimpse of an angel, and she didn’t want to look away. She watched his eyes glaze over, the color drain from them, and the shadows leapt forward to consume him, eagerly eating away at the light of an angel.
He gasped, and then he choked. He heaved for breath, trying to live , maybe praying to whatever god he believed in, but the shadows wouldn’t be stopped by a pathetic, sorry last hope.
He took his final breath, and fell to the ground, looking oddly peaceful for a dead man, besides the ugly black lines that now permanently tainted his corpse.
She smiled, and peacefully walked over to collect her prize for killing an angel. An angel!
She took out a knife she always kept on her for some reason, and carefully sliced the wings off of his back. He wouldn’t use them ever again, anyways. Why not add them to her treasure hoard? The wings of an angel would bring a nice touch to it.
But the fun couldn't last forever. She had killed an angel, and it seemed like the heavens may be real after all, because soon after Scott’s death, retribution came in the form of a cat and a gravital.
The cat - Shelby, that was Shelby - broke the cobblestone walls leading to her lair, Sausage following closely behind, a diamond sword in his hand. Lizzie went rigid. Crap. Shelby sniffed the air, obviously trying to use her sense of smell to find Lizzie.
“Enigma!” Sausage called out, waving his sword around. “We know you’re in here!”
Enigma.
Not Lizzie, Enigma.
Lizzie took a deep breath and unveiled herself. If she were to be caught this way, it would happen on her terms and her terms only. She had to be in control here if she wanted to keep her life.
“Hello, Sausage. Shelby. What do I owe the pleasure of this visit?”
“We know what you’ve done.” Shelby said threateningly. Or, well, tried to. It was obvious she was scared, scared of Lizzie, and that hurt more than it should’ve considering Lizzie was supposed to be a being that thrived on fear and insanity.
“Yeah!” Sausage nodded. “We know what you did to Scott, and we’re here to make you pay!”
“You’re a danger to this server, Lizzie.” Shelby hissed, seeming more catlike by the second. “I’m sorry. I hope your next life is more pleasant to us than this one.”
Wow.
Wow.
Alright, she saw how it was.
“How unfortunate.” Lizzie hummed. “But what makes you think I’ll go down so eas-”
She had mistakenly believed Shelby and Sausage were here to just talk and threaten her. She was wrong. Shelby pounced on her before she could finish speaking, and aimed her claws towards Lizzie’s bandana.
“Get her eyes!” Sausage shouted. “They’re the main threat!”
Lizzie roared, throwing Shelby off of her. Sausage tried to put his sword through her stomach, but something happened, and suddenly void was pouring out of her skull, her eyes, her mouth, her body, and her very soul.

Pitter patter.
Pitter patter.
It was raining.
Lizzie blinked, water droplets hitting her face. Her blindfold was gone, probably torn off by Shelby. But she was somewhere completely different. She didn’t recognize the area she was in at all.
Because she was a creature of the void, and those were always unstable. Sometimes they would be randomly transported to different servers at random times, their connection to the void transcending even worlds themselves, keeping them unshackled from the world, but always so easy to pull them away from it.
So most likely? She was on a different server.
Now all she had to do was find the admin, be like ‘hey, I have connections to the void so I’m a little unstable, could you please put me back in the hub world so I can get back to my SMP?’ Easy! Theoretically.
She needed to find signs of life first before she could do any of that. Find a server member, ask them about the admin, maybe explain her situation, and go home! Now to find a server member…
She kept walking through the rain, occasionally phasing in and out to avoid the mobs. She wasn’t in a position to stare anybody to death right now.
She saw the familiar purple hue of a nether portal, and quickly made her way towards it. She saw a few logs propped up near it, as if they were some kind of defense, and the closer she got, she saw a small home and tent made of stone and wood.
She heard the sound of somebody walking, and she braced herself. This wasn’t Afterlife, but there was a chance that people would still instinctively hate her on sight in this new server, so it was better to be safe than sorry.
“Who the fuck is there?!” A hoarse, young voice called out. Light was coming from inside the cabin, and the boy - he sounded young - was standing in the doorway, holding a wooden sword threateningly. “Is somebody there? Or is that a mob? Show yourself!”
Lizzie huffed. Well, she did need to find a resident of this server.
“No, I’m not a mob.” She revealed herself, letting him get a good look at her. However, she made sure to keep her gaze at the wood near his feet. She didn’t have a blindfold, after all.
“What the…” The boy squinted at her. “What the fuck are you?”
“If you let me inside, you could get a better look.” She offered.
He paused. Then he huffed.
“Fuckin’ fine. It’s not like I have anything valuable to steal anyways.”
She walked inside, humming at the small structure. It was homey, but a bit cramped.
“What the actual fuck…” the boy was staring at her. Or, more accurately, at the odd parts of her. Her demon horns and flowers didn’t get much attention, but her bird leg, kangaroo leg, raccoon tail, and slime arms certainly did.
“Hello.” She greeted him. “I’m Lizzie. An Enigma. And you?”
The boy scoffed. “Yeah, you sure are a fucking enigma to me, don’t have to be all edgy and shit…” then he added, quietly, “I’m Tommy.”
“Hello Tommy.” She smiled. “Sorry for intruding, but I just need to see your server admin.”
His head shot up sharply, and oddly enough, anger, rage, suspicion and fear were all there.
“Why?” He demanded.
“Well…” Lizzie began to explain. “I come from a modded server called Afterlife SMP. Basically we all have mob or otherworldly origins, and we have 10 lives each. Each time we die we are reincarnated as a different origin. I’m an Enigma, and connected to the void. I kinda glitched out in my own server, and I need to speak to the admin so I can get sent back to the hub world and find my server again.”
Tommy relaxed, but only by a little bit. “Oh.” He shrugged. “Well, that bastard comes around here almost every day, so if you just… I don’t know, stick around, then you’d probably be able to meet him.”
Lizzie smiled, looking at the cobblestone behind him to give the illusion that she was making eye contact, while still keeping him safe from her deadly stare. “Thank you! Do you have an extra bed?”
“No.” Tommy snapped. “I don’t. I barely have enough stuff for myself, bitch.” He paused, before regret came over his face. “Sorry, sorry, force of habit. You're not a bitch. Women are very pog.”
“Thank you, I think?” Lizzie huffed in amusement. “I can get my own wool, it’s fine. Be right back.” She phased through the wall and to the outside, laughing at the muffled ‘WHAT THE FUCK?!’ That she heard.
Lizzie dug out her own little space underneath Tommy’s house. It was perfect, because only she could access it, since she made sure to seal up the entrance and exit. Tommy wanted an explanation for her abilities, which she had been trying to stall on, given her last encounter with those who knew what she was.
Oddly enough, though, Tommy didn’t seem to hate her on sight. The constant swearing and loud personality seemed to be a him thing, and not a ‘what the heck is this lady I need to get rid of her’ instinctual reaction.
“So what is an Enigma?” Tommy asked her for the 100th time while they were collecting sand from the beach near his home. Lizzie had decided to help him out with whatever he needed, since she didn’t have anything better to do.
Lizzie huffed. “You’re not going to stop until you get an answer?”
He shrunk back. “Sorry, sorry. I know I’m kinda annoying."
She blinked, surprised. “No, I was just teasing you, Tommy. You’re fine.”
He nodded, seeming a lot more closed off than he had been a few seconds ago. Lizzie decided to try and cheer him up.
“Wanna hear about my abilities?”
He instantly perked up. “Yes, yes! I wanna hear about what you can do! Your server sounds so cool in comparison to this one!”
She chuckled. “Well, if I leave a clone behind, like this.” She demonstrated, stepping out of her own body, which instantly copied itself with a lifeless clone.
Her body turned invisible, and she jumped back in it, letting Tommy look at her clone.
“Lizzie?” He asked curiously, and waved a hand in front of the clone’s face. “Lizzie? Hello? Anybody in there?”
“I’m right here.” Lizzie spoke from behind him.
He screamed, and whipped around with his wooden sword to swipe at her. She easily dodged it, laughing.
“And if I kill the clone…” she punched the clone of her, and it instantly disappeared, and she reappeared.
Tommy was staring at her, slack-jawed. She grinned.
“I reappear! Tada!”
“WHAT THE FUCK!?” Tommy screamed. “How the hell did you do that?”
Lizzie giggled. “If I leave a clone behind, I can go invisible. However it’s super fragile, even a punch can destroy it, so I usually hide it somewhere where nobody can find it.”
“That’s so fucking cool!” Tommy grinned. “You could play so many awesome pranks! What else can you do?”
“Well…” she made herself go intangible, instantly falling through the floor. She then popped back up, giggling as she appeared right in front of Tommy’s face, who had taken to searching for her in the sand.
“I can go through stuff!” She announced happily. “I also have X-ray vision when I’m underground, and I can see other players through walls.”
“Wait!” Tommy stood up, grinning excitedly. “Does this mean you can easily find diamonds using your x-ray vision?”
“Yep!” She smiled, happy at the change of pace of somebody being amazed by her abilities instead of scared. “I’ve done that before! I think I saw a few diamonds down there, actually.”
“We need to get an iron pickaxe!” He jumped up and down. “Do you have one? Wait, I think I made one last night! Wait here!” He ran back to Logsteadshire, as she learned it was called, and came back quickly with an almost-broken iron pickaxe and handed it to her.
“Do it, do it!”
She smiled and took the pickaxe, slowly phasing through the floor. She swam through the walls, collecting 6 diamonds within a few minutes. She could’ve gotten more if she had Fortune III, but Tommy didn’t really have the stuff to make an enchanting table.
She surfaced back up with her haul, and proudly showed off the diamond to Tommy, who freaked out.
“THAT’S SO COOL!” He grinned. “We could be the richest people on the server with your ability! This is fucking amazing!”
“I also have permanent night vision.” Lizzie added. “So it’s super easy for me to spot the diamonds.” She handed them to him. “Here you go!”
He hesitated. “Actually… I think you should hold onto them.” He pushed them towards her. “I don’t… they’d probably get blown up.”
Lizzie tilted her head. “Why?”
“No fucking reason, that’s why.”
“… Okay.” Sensitive subject, then. “I also can teleport behind people, but exclusively behind them.”
“Oh!” He perked up, a slow grin spreading across his face. “That would be so cool for pranks. Kinda like an Enderman!”
“Kinda.” Lizzie agreed, smiling.
“So, what else can you do?” He asked.
She froze. The one thing she had left was her stare of death, and sometimes it was more of a hindrance than a power. She purposefully hadn’t been staring at him at all, because she didn’t want to kill him.
“I uh…” it was better to not lie. And hey, she wouldn’t be here long, what did it matter if he hated her after this? “I can stare stuff to death. Like literally. If I stare at somebody for long enough, they’ll die. It starts with slowness, then blindness and nausea, and then they die. It’s kind of… a hindrance, honestly. I used to have a blindfold, but it got ripped and I haven’t had a chance to replace it.” She waited. Waited for the yelling, the hatred, the disgust. She waited for him to run, or to sound at least somewhat scared of her. But instead…
Instead he took off his green bandana, and used his new stone sword he and Lizzie had made together to cut it into a perfect rectangle. He held it out to her.
“Here.” He said, voice uncharacteristically soft. “Use this.”
“But-” she blinked in surprise. “Your bandana…?”
“It’s fine.” He waved her off. “You needed a blindfold, and my bandana is the nicest thing I own.”
“All the more reason to-”
“Please.” He said, sounding kind of desperate. “Take it.”
Hesitantly, she carefully took the bandana and tied it around her eyes. The bandana was a little see-through, funnily enough, so her vision wasn’t completely hindered. She could see the glowing outline of Tommy through her blindfold, and smiled.
“Thank you.” She said honestly.
She could hear the smile in his voice. “You’re very fucking welcome, Lizzie!”
She laughed. Some things wouldn’t change, huh?
Then she saw his outline jolt. “Oh- shoot- Dream’s coming!”
Lizzie quickly went through the floor. She didn’t know who Dream was, but he sounded scared. She hid in her personal room, hoping Tommy was okay and mildly regretting leaving him out there.
She didn’t question the explosions she heard when she saw Tommy’s facial expression. She just hugged him. She could tell he needed it.
It felt bittersweet.
It was on her third day with Tommy that she met Ghostbur.
She had been speaking to Tommy about his home’s - Logstedshire, it was called - flag. Lizzie debated the need of having a flag, while Tommy was insisting that it would be cool to have one.
Then Ghostbur came around.
“Hello Tommy!” He said happily, before tilting his head curiously once he caught sight of her. “Oh? Is this a new friend of yours, Tommy?”
“Wil- Ghostbur.” Tommy sighed, as if he would rather not have this conversation. “This is Lizzie. She’s been hanging out with me in Exile.”
Exile?
“Oooh!” She could hear the grin in his voice. “New friend during your vacation? That’s exciting! Here, take some blue as a gift!” He handed her some blue dye, seeming very proud of himself.
“Oh… thank you?” She tried to smile at his outline, wondering why he had given her this.
Ghostbur had stuck around for a little while after that. He asked Tommy where his bandana had gone, but Tommy avoided the subject, which made her feel a bit guilty.
Eventually he left, and Tommy didn’t bring him up again. She didn’t bother to ask. She had a feeling he wouldn’t like it.
Later that day, Tommy came back from the nether, looking pissed off.
“What happened?” Lizzie asked.
“I just learned a crucial piece of information, that’s fucking what!” He snared. “Apparently, they decided to plop me near Technoblade, who lives in the tundra! That bastard already hates me enough, I don’t need the constant threat of him coming to kill me in my sleep!”
She tensed at the mention of a threat towards Tommy. “Who’s Technoblade?”
“Oh, right. Forgot you don’t know anything about the servers history.” He huffed. “All you need to know is that he’s a bastard and insane. He’s also a fucking prick. Came to laugh at me on my first day here.”
She frowned. She wanted to know more, but from the looks of things, she already didn’t like this guy. And besides, Tommy didn’t seem to like it when she pushed.
So she didn’t.
It was on the fourth day that pieces started coming together to form a picture. a picture she did very much not like.
Tommy had gone into the nether for a bit, and asked Lizzie to collect some more wood for Logstedshire. She had a few stacks of oak, spruce, and birch now, so she felt like they were set.
Then she heard the telltale signs of someone coming through a nether portal, and rushed to be there to greet Tommy. Her blindfold was off - she liked to be able to see stuff, and surprisingly enough Tommy trusted her even without the blindfold on. Then Tommy came out of the portal, his shoulders tense and face scrunched up as if he was trying not to cry, and her protective instincts went up to 100.
“Tommy?” She asked gently. “What’s wrong?”
“Everything!” He snapped, storming over towards the water. “Fucking everything is wrong, Lizzie! They built a Christmas tree! A Christmas tree! And they’re rubbing it in my face when I can’t even see it! Nobody even visits anymore! It’s- AGH! I fucking hate them!”
She walked over to him, letting him vent even though she honestly had no idea what he was talking about. Without warning, he clung to her, sobbing his heart out into her shoulder. She let him, running her hand up and down his back in a soothing motion. Eventually his cries died down, and he sighed and pulled away, wiping the last few tears off his face.
“I’m sorry about that, Lizzie.” He said quietly. “I know- I know I’m a burden. And-and difficult to be friends with and a nuisance, and-”
She listened to him deprecate himself with dawning horror. Exile, being unable to see a Christmas tree, and now this?
Tomy had been exiled from somewhere to this place, that much was true, and it was obviously taking a toll on his mental health. Gods, Tommy looked like a teenager. So young, and being put through something like this? Exile was meant for monsters like her, not young children.
“Stop it.” She said softly. Tommy’s mouth immediately snapped shut. She winced. “No- sorry, I didn’t mean to sound forceful, it’s just- you’re not a burden. You’re kinda annoying, but I think that’s part of your charm. I- I just-” she huffed in frustration, unable to express herself through words. So instead, she wrapped him in a big hug, squeezing him gently. “I don’t hate you. I think you’re pretty cool.” She pulled back to smile at him.
“Hey, I have lots of wood and shears, we can make our own Christmas tree here!”
“Wait- really?” He blinked, clearly not expecting that. She just giggled.
“Yeah, really! I bet it could be a lot cooler than whatever they have over there.” She grinned. “It could be huge! Or small, depending on how you want it. I just think It’d be cool. Plus, I can’t see this so-called ‘amazing tree’, so let’s make one for ourselves here!”
“Yeah. Yeah!” Tommy grinned. “It'll be so much cooler than whatever they got goin’ on over there! It’ll be huge! Enormous, I say! The greatest monument of Logstedshire!” He held out his hands. “Gimme some wood!”
She grinned and handed him some. She took out her shears and got to work on collecting some leaves and wool.
I promise you, that whoever has hurt you, I will make sure that they’ll never do so again.
“What are you doing?” Lizie asked curiously, peeking over Tomy’s shoulder to read what he was writing. Lizzie tended to wear her blindfold off when she was around Tommy, because he seemed comfortable with it. She might as well have kept the blindfold on for this, though, since his handwriting was completely unintelligible.
“I’m writing invitations!” Tommy said, gesturing to the pieces of paper with chicken scratch on them. “I’m hosting this fucking AMAZING party. I decided that if everyone’s too shy to visit me, I’ll just have to invite them over here!”
Lizzie hummed. Truth be told, she didn’t know how much she wanted those people around Tommy, if they had exiled him, but a few people - CaptainPuffy and HBomb - had left him gifts under the tree they’d made together, so perhaps not everyone there hated and supported the exile of a child, but still.
“Am I invited to this party?” She asked teasingly.
“Of course! You don’t even need to ask, Liz!” He grinned at her, his smile brighter than a thousand suns. “I was actually wondering if you’d want to help me decorate!”
“Of course.” She smiled. “But I’d also like to help you with the letters. They’re a bit… unreadable, to me, I’m afraid.”
Tommy gasped in offense, placing a hand on his chest dramatically. “I’ll have you know I worked hard on those!” He huffed and handed her a few pieces of paper. “Here, write to Phil, T-” He hesitated. “Tubbo, Ranboo, Nikki, Big Q, and Fundy on these.”
She frowned at his hesitation, but she complied with his requests. Him freaking out about her stupendously fancy handwriting helped to bring the mood up a bit, but…
“Dream’s coming.” He paled. “Hide!”
It was odd. Despite many insistences that Dream was a friend of Tommy’s, Tommy didn’t seem to refer to him as such on the day Lizzie met him, and he seemed so sure something bad would happen if he saw her. Nevertheless, she complied. She didn’t want to push, or worse, make him upset.
Dream stayed around to help decorate, so Lizzie relaxed - as much as she could, anyways - in her little underground room while her and Tommy waited for him to leave.
It was when they began to wait for the guests to arrive that Lizzie began to feel actual hatred for the people Tommy had invited to the party.
Tommy had been excitedly bouncing around in his chair, happily rambling to her about how excited he was and how much fun was gonna be had. Soon, though, the sun began to go down, and Lizzie had to put torches out to prevent mob spawning. Tommy slowly began to wilt, as he waited for party guests who looked like they weren’t coming.
He was curled up in a fetal position, anxiously looking out over the ocean’s horizon, as if the guests would appear there at any moment.
“Tommy?” She began hesitantly, “I don’t think they’re coming.”
“No!” He snapped, then curled into himself further. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry. I-I just know they’re coming. I know it.”
She frowned, uncertain. It hurt her to watch as he fell further into despair the longer they waited. Eventually, she spoke again.
“Tommy, I think they aren’t coming.” Silence. “Tommy?”
She looked over to him and saw silent tears streaming down his face.
“Am I just unlovable?” He asked quietly, his sentences getting faster and more frantic. “Is that it? Does everybody just hate me? They- they’ve stopped visiting as frequently, Ghostbur’s gone too. I- Dream was right. He’s my only friend. Nobody else cares about me, I’m too annoying for them all, I don’t deserve to be here, I don’t deserve to li-”
She wrapped him up in a tight hug before he could even finish that thought. Oh yes, she definitely hated these people now. And for every self deprecating comment Tommy made, Lizzie made sure to counter it.
“You’re not unlovable. I don’t hate you. Even if they’re gone, I’m here for you. I’m your friend too, Tommy. I care about you. You’re just the right amount of annoying. You don’t deserve to be in Exile like this, you deserve to be loved, cherished and held, you deserve to be treated like a child instead of an adult.” She gripped him tightly. “You deserve to live.”
He sobbed into her arms, burying his face into her chest. She took off her blindfold to wipe away the tears in his eyes when he looked up at her, gently ruffling his hair.
“It’s not okay Tommy.” She said gently. “I’m not gonna lie to you and say that this situation is. Because it’s not. You don’t deserve this. No matter what you’ve done, you don’t deserve to be neglected and treated like this. But if the world’s gonna be your enemy, please know that I will not be, and I will fight it for you. I will be here for you, still standing by you, because I love you and I care about you, even if it seems unbelievable for the amount of time we’ve known each other.”
“Do…” He sniffled. “Do you really mean that, Liz?”
“Of course.” She kissed his forehead. “Now come on. You made cake. And I’m sure it’s gonna be delicious.”
The cake was delicious. It was incredibly good, and Lizzie made sure to let Tommy know that. The mood was soured by Dream’s appearance, but even as they both went to be that night, they felt warm inside.
Lizzie made sure to tell Tommy goodnight. He tentatively asked her if she could be there for him as he fell asleep, because he didn’t feel like falling asleep alone.
She agreed. Because she always would.
She woke up to explosions.
And yelling.
“DREAM! STOP IT! STOP IT PLEASE-!”
“This wouldn’t be happening if you had just been honest with me, given me all of your items, and told me who helped you make those invitations and ate that cake with you! This is your own fault, Tommy!”
Okay, nope. She didn’t need to know jack shit about the situation. Tommy was hurt, and somebody was hurting him.
“I’m your only friend, Tommy! You have to listen to me, unless you want to lose me!”
She instantly closed her eyes, threw off her blindfold, and allowed herself to teleport behind the blond child.
“I apologize, Dream.” She hissed, straightening her posture to look extra scary and intimidating. The man, Dream, was tragically basic. He wore a green cloak that covered his whole body with a smiley-face mask and some netherite, but other than that, he looked pathetic. “But that position has been filled.”
“Who the hell are you? I didn’t whitelist you!”
“Lizzie…?”
Out of the two, Tommy was more important. She smiled at him. “It’s okay, Tommy. I’m here now.”
“Get away from him.” Dream snapped, holding his axe towards her threateningly. She scowled and held Tommy closer.
“I should be saying that to you.” She hissed, and made sure to stare. All the while he ranted and raved.
“Get away from him. I’m his friend, his only friend, meant to protect him from intruders like you.” He tightened his grip on his axe. “Come here, Tommy. Now.”
Tommy tried to wrench himself free from her grasp, but she held on tighter, never taking her gaze away from the green man.
“Tommy.” Dream said warningly. “Remember what’s gonna happen if you disobey me?”
“He won’t have to.” Lizzie spoke at last. “Because I won’t let you.”
“Oh yeah?” Dream scoffed. “As if you could protect him from me. Do you even know who I am? I’M THE ADMIN OF THIS SERVER! Now Tommy, come…” He tried to walk forwards towards them, but he fell to the ground.
“Dream!” Tommy seemed concerned for him. He shouldn’t be. He looked at Dream, who was trying to find the strength to get up again with all of the netherite weighing him down, and Lizzie, who didn’t even blink once. His eyes widened as he made the connection.
“Lizzie, stop!” He struggled and writhed, but Lizzie kept her grip on him iron tight. Just one more minute, then Dream would be down…
“What the hell…” Dream coughed, glowering at her from behind the mask, probably. “What the hell are you doing? How the fuck are you doing this?!”
Lizzie narrowed her eyes, but made sure to not close them.
“LIZZIE!” Tommy screamed. “STOP IT! HE’s- he’s my friend.” He choked on a sob. “He’s my friend, Lizzie. Please don’t take him away from me! Lizzie, please! Please, Lizzie!”
Her resolve almost cracked as she was forced to listen to him beg and plead to spare a man who had hurt him. But, she remembered what she had heard earlier, and she hissed.
“I’m sorry, Tommy.” She said quietly. “But he’s not your friend. Friends don't hurt you.”
Black lines were crawling up the bastard’s face now. Good. It meant the life in him was almost gone. Soon his eyes would glaze over, become pale, and then he’d die.
“What… are you?” Dream managed to choke out amidst his dying wheezes and coughs. What a poor choice of last words.
Lizzie grinned. “I… am an Enigma.”
He let out one final desperate inhale for breath, and amongst Tommy’s screams, he died.
Dream fell out of the world.
Lizzie smiled, satisfied now that he was dead, and let go of Tommy. But she faltered when he punched her in the chest. It barely fazed her - gods, why was she only now noticing how skinny and frail he looked? - and he glared at her.
“Fuck you!” He screamed. “Dream was my friend! He cared about me! And you killed him! FUCK! YOU!” He turned around on his heel and ran, tears streaming down his face.
“Tommy! Wait! I-” She growled as she watched him run. “Shit…” His swearing was rubbing off on her, it seemed. But more importantly, Tommy was running to only god knows where, so she picked up Dream’s fallen inventory and followed.
She followed him all the way to the edge of a tundra, where his footsteps stood out in the white snow. She didn’t even hesitate to follow him. He was vulnerable, alone, and in the cold. Not a good combination. Now she had to follow his footsteps to find him.
It started snowing along the way, because OF COURSE it did. She looked around for Tommy frantically, calling out his name. Tommy mentioned a Technoblade living in the tundra, and the looming threat of him potentially harming Tommy was heavy.
Eventually Lizzie spotted a lump in the snow, which turned out to be a passed-out Tommy.
“Oh gods…” She muttered. She shook him desperately. “Tommy? Tommy, can you hear me at all?” No response. She frantically searched around in her inventory for anything, anything at all, and came up with Dream’s cloak. Not ideal, but at least it would be good for something. She wrapped Tommy up in a bundle, and blinked when she saw a cabin in the distance.
A cabin that, most likely, belonged to this Technoblade character.
She didn’t want to bring Tommy there, truthfully. She didn’t want to risk putting him in danger. However, the warmer biomes were miles away by now, and she would have to risk Tommy dying of hypothermia while carrying him through a snowstorm, with no protection for herself. Seriously, she was wearing a white shirt with pink overalls that had a strawberry pattern, and no footwear.
So, in order to keep herself and Tommy alive, she’d just have to risk it. Her hair was beginning to get wet from the snow anyways, and wet and cold were a horrific combination.
She trekked over to the cabin, the young boy in her arms, and knocked on the door.
A man - presumably Technoblade - opened it after a moment. He had long, flowing pink hair and regal attire, with tusks coming out from his lips, hooves for feet and hands, and scars littered his body. His earlier expression of apprehension turned into shock.
“Technoblade, is it?” She smiled grimly. “I know this looks a little odd, but I promise to explain everything if you let us in.”
