Work Text:
Cyno often saw himself as a simple man living a simple, if dangerous, life. He didn’t mind the risks that came with his everyday and the strife that sometimes came with it. As long as he had some money, his shared apartment, and his cherished fiance Tighnari, then he would be alright and settle down wherever and whenever.
Speaking of his cherished fiance..
Tighnari had his arms wrapped around him while Cyno had his head tucked into his chest, breathing in his scent of the earth and lingering liquor from the night before. He could hear in the faint distance the calls of the morning birds and feel the warmth of the sun’s rays against his exposed back.
He was suddenly extremely glad that they had no work today.
It was all so still, so quiet.
He buried his head further into Tighnari’s chest.
The events of the night before weren’t lost on him. He could remember vividly how it went. They had gotten home from work at three in the morning, having switched places with the next people incoming to take over, and he was expecting the both of them to flop into bed and fall asleep. Tighnari had gone to take a shower and he laid in bed and looked on social media on his phone.
What he didn’t expect that night was for his admittedly sly fiance to come out of the shower with just a towel on and also drop said towel before him with a smirk that could probably undermine the shady sneers and smiles he saw at Angel’s Share.
He had been with Tighnari for..what, three, four years? Five?
(He was losing track, this man was ruining his life most definitely.)
And yet his nude frame always instilled a feeling of burning passion in his body, always like it was the first time they grew intimate with each other. He had sat there in the bed with his face heating up as the other pushed the towel aside with his foot and climbed on top of him, telling him that since they had no work the next day, they could do whatever they wanted.
He was right, but did he have to go about it in such a provocative way?
Ah, who was he kidding?
He was completely enamored with Tighnari and he would’ve allowed it in every other circumstance. They were a little drunk too, having taken a few drinks home thanks to Diluc wanting to be freed of leftover bottles to make way for new ones and it just lessened their inhibitions and wills to resist.
But he knew he would never resist Tighnari.
He knew he could never resist Tighnari.
He pulled his head away from his chest when he heard quiet thumps against their mattress. His eyes fell upon the other’s tail, in which was smacking itself repeatedly against their bed. A quiet chuckle left him as he reached out and carded his fingers through green fur. Since Tighnari was asleep, he assumed that maybe he was dreaming, and his tail simply responded to it.
It was so..cute.
If he was honest, he didn’t know that he would become the kind of man as to call something - someone - cute. Yet here he was. By everything that was holy, he was beginning to wonder if it was the leftover alcohol and slight hangover that made him that way or Tighnari’s body heat and his tiny, soft smile on his sleeping face.
Oh no, he realized.
Maybe it was both!
There were so many things that a man could be and in love was one of them.
He could probably be here all day and admire Tighnari’s face, his body, and everything that he was. That wouldn’t be a day wasted, it would be one well-spent!
He was raving and rambling so much so in his own head that he failed to notice Tighnari slowly waking up from his slumber, cautiously opening his tired eyes and blinking the sleep out of them. Cyno only noticed him waking up once he rubbed his face against his hair, tail picking up the pace in its wagging and smacks against the bed.
“Tighnari,” he spoke in a whisper, keeping his voice low as to not pop the comfortable bubble that had surrounded them, “good morning.”
“Good morning,” he replied, his own voice muffled because of the fact he was pressing his face against Cyno’s hair, “did you..wake up earlier than me?”
“I think that one’s obvious.”
“..touche.”
Not one of them moved from their positions.
“How did you sleep?” He brought his hand up to Tighnari’s face, rubbing his thumb against his cheek. He hummed in response to the affection. “I slept good. How about you?”
“Just as well as you did.”
“I’d expect nothing else, considering you fell asleep the minute we finished up yesterday.”
The bout of crude humor made Cyno’s face flush.
“Could you blame me?” He asked sheepishly.
“No,” Tighnari kissed his forehead, “I did pounce onto you after all. That’s my fault.”
“I didn’t say I didn’t like it..”
“You are something else, I swear, what are we going to do for our wedding night if you just like everything and expect it?”
The tired exasperation was potent in his voice and Cyno was compelled to kiss him right then and there, savoring the hum that came from him when he was kissed. Pulling back, he replied, “we can just do whatever we want. I still think we should elope. I don’t know if I want our coworkers to make a scene at our own wedding.”
“What’s with you and eloping?”
“It’s easier.”
“Hm. I’ll consider it.”
“You will?”
“Why not?” He chuckled. “It does make less of a scene and we can have all the privacy we want. I doubt anyone will ever notice until we come back with wedding rings on our fingers. I still want to invite some of our friends though.”
“Let’s take them with us then.”
“A good idea. Let’s keep our options open for now, okay?”
“Okay.”
It was fine by him. Either way, at the end of the day, he was still going to marry Tighnari and live out the rest of his days with him. That was all he wanted and he was sure that the other wanted that too. Marriage was always inevitable when it came to the two of them. A sigh came out of Tighnari. He looked up at him in confusion.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m hungry,” Tighnari muttered, “but I don’t want to leave bed.”
That almost got a laugh out of him!
“I’ll get you some food,” he reluctantly pulled himself away from his fiance, whose foxy ears stood upright and his tail began to swish and sway more and more.
“Some water too please.”
“Of course, Tighnari,” he kissed his forehead as he got up from the bed, steadying himself and his unbalanced legs. When he stepped into the doorway of the bedroom, he glanced back at Tighnari, who was laying there with a fond grin on his face, eyes sparkling and full of love. He wanted to drown in those eyes.
He couldn’t wait to get married.
He couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with that sly and cute partner of his.
Without another word and thought, he headed into the kitchen to grab the both of them some food and water, a small smile on his own face as well.
