Summary

Six months after Nightless City, after the punishment, after learning of Wei Ying's death and collecting A-Yuan from the Burial Mounds, Lan Wangji receives a notice from Lotus Pier, from Jiang Wanyin. Jiang Yanli survived her injury, and has awoken from a healing sleep that kept her alive, and kept her from learning of her brother's death. Now, she asks for Lan Wangji's presence.
Lan Wangji leaves.
What follows is the rebuilding of their lives, day by day, year by year, raising children and rebuilding the YunmengJiang, while revelations hidden deep within the cultivation society come to light. Meanwhile, there is a force working behind the scenes, trying to fix things, trying to find its way home.

Mr. Mo’s expression did nothing to help his case. He looked extremely stressed whenever Zizhen started questioning his upbringing, and he often flubbed his answers. “Maybe I was homeschooled,” he posited.
“Were you?” Zizhen pressed.
“... I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?! You can’t remember if you went to elementary school or stayed home?”
“My memory is bad!” Mr. Mo insisted.
“You have an eidetic memory!”
Mr. Mo scratched his nose shyly. “Eidetic… photographic… something like that.”
“So then what did your classroom look like?!” Zizhen asked.
Mr. Mo smacked the whiteboard with his expo marker, forcing the students to refocus on the notes he had written. “Hydrogen bonding,” he said pointedly. “A dipole-dipole attraction. If you’re not about to tell me which three elements hydrogen can bond to in this manner, then your hand should not be raised.”

Summary
