Work Text:
Minho breathes a sigh of relief as he finally steps out of the car.
The journey back to his hometown had been long, but he’s glad to be back. Touring with BTS as a back up dancer was a dream come true and Minho smiles fondly as he thinks over the past few months.
Minho shakes his head and rushes to help his manager with his things. He only has a few bags, but still, it’d be rude to make his manager do all the work. After gathering all his things and wishing his manager goodbye and good holidays, Minho turns to face the remainder of the street with a sigh.
His manager had been nice enough to drive him home but Minho’s street was jammed with cars and there was no way they would’ve been able to find secure parking outside Minho’s house, so Minho had suggested dropping him off at the end of the street.
Adjusting his bags once more, Minho starts the short walk to his house when a voice calls out his name, catching him off guard. He turns around only to spot Hwang Hyunjin, his childhood best friend, walking towards him. The two had stopped talking sometime around Minho’s sixteenth birthday, but Minho would be lying if he said he didn’t miss the younger boy.
Minho and Hyunjin had shared everything. They were each other’s first kiss (a memory that still lingers in the back of Minho’s mind, especially on lonely nights in random foreign countries when he can’t sleep), they guided each other through relationships and stuck by each other’s sides whenever things fell apart, and Minho had gone to Hyunjin first out of everyone when he’d gotten signed on to be a dancer under Big Hit Entertainment.
It sucks to realise that, in retrospect, that was the start of their friendship fracturing apart.
Minho would slowly spend more and more time with his fellow dancers and Hyunjin got shoved to the wayside, content with just having Minho in his life, even if it was in small amounts, until one day he saw that BTS were going on tour… and Minho with them. It shattered his heart and he tried to ignore the pain he felt but he was hurt that he had found out Minho was going with BTS via Changbin and not via Minho himself. It stung. Hyunjin had pulled away then. Every single tour after that was just another stab to Hyunjin’s heart, just another step away from Minho that he took.
But now here Hyunjin was, walking up to Minho with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes that made Minho’s stomach churn.
Was Hyunjin always this…hot?, Minho mentally questioned before bringing himself back to reality as Hyunjin stopped in front of him.
“Hyunjin… hi. Long time no see.” Minho says and internally winces. Of course it’s been a long time, you fucking abandoned him, Minho thinks. Hyunjin smiles at him, a relieving thing, and Minho mentally curses. He forgot that Hyunjin could read him well.
“Well, you’ve been busy touring around the world! Must’ve been fun, right?” Hyunjin says, his tone sweet and Minho wonders what trick Hyunjin is playing on him right now.
“Honestly, it’s unreal. But I’m very glad it’s over and I get to come back and rest up for the holidays.” Minho says, slightly shifting his bags. Hyunjin’s eyes flick to the movement, and he flushes pink.
“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t even notice your bags! Did you just get back?” Hyunjin asks and Minho nods, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. “Oh God, sorry! I’ll let you get back home, but, um, I was wondering if you wanted to meet up for coffee sometime soon. A new coffee shop opened up recently, it’s great, I think you’ll like it.” Hyunjin rambles on before stopping, hands covering his mouth as his eyes widens.
Okay, so he’s hot and even cuter now, got it, Minho mentally notes.
“Sure. I’d love that. Um, I’ll need your phone number though. Unless you haven’t changed it since when we last spoke.” Minho says, awkwardly fiddling with the strap on his shoulder. Hyunjin giggles softly.
“I have. Changbin accidentally smashed my old phone sometime last year and I luckily managed to salvage everything, but not my old phone number.” Hyunjin replies, a pout on his lips. Minho finds himself staring at his lips then before shaking his head. Bad Minho, he chastises himself. He reaches into the back pocket of his jeans, pulling out his phone and unlocking it quickly, before handing it to Hyunjin. The younger gracefully accepts it, imputing his number quickly (with the nickname Hyunjinnie☆), before handing it back. Minho shoots him a quick smiley face just to clarify and once it’s confirmed that everything is sorted, Minho smiles at Hyunjin.
“Well then, I should probably get home. Text me to sort out our plans, yeah?” Minho says and Hyunjin nods, wishing him farewell, before turning on his heel to enter his house that’s three doors down from where Minho stands. He heaves up his bags again and heads towards his house.
Minho knocks gently on the door and smiles, big and wide, when his mother answers.
“Minho! You’re home!” His mother says pulling him into a hug. He hugs her back, taking in her familiar scent, before they part and his mother steps to one side to let him in.
“Yeah, I’m off till January second now.” Minho responds and his mother looks at him fondly. “What?” He questions her.
“Nothing, nothing. I’m just, I’m so proud of you. Come on, honey, let’s get some food in you before we catch up.” She responds and Minho smiles.
“I’d love that, eomma.”

It’s not until the next morning that Hyunjin texts Minho and Minho finds himself smiling around his blue toothbrush as he reads the texts.
Hyunjinnie☆: Sorry for not texting u last night! I just wanted u to have some time with ur family first!
Minho chuckles as he realises that Hyunjin’s typing is exactly the same as it was four years ago. He spits out his toothpaste and rinses his brush off before looking back at his phone screen, continuing on where he left off.
Hyunjinnie☆: I was thinking maybe we could meet up today? If it’s too soon, lmk, but the shop isn’t open on Sundays and I work Mon-Fri, so we’d have to wait ages otherwise.
Hyunjinnie☆: …I just realised how desperate I sound. Soz lol.
Minho snorts at that before turning to leave the bathroom, typing as he walks down the hallway back to his room.
Minho🐱: Sure, I don’t mind meeting up today. What time?
It doesn’t take long for Hyunjin to respond, and Minho thinks that maybe the other is just watching his phone and waiting. He used to do it a lot when they were younger, so it’s possible.
Hyunjinnie☆: I was thinking maybe 12? It’d give u some hrs to get ready then.
Minho looks at the time. It’s only 10:58am, so Hyunjin is right about the ‘time to get ready’ thing.
Minho🐱: Sounds good. Meet outside yours?
Hyunjinnie☆: Let’s meet outside ur place, since we’d have to go past urs anyways.
Minho🐱: Okay. See you at 12!
Hyunjinnie☆: Yep!
Minho locks his phone and throws it on his bed before stalking over to his closet. He wanted something cute but also something that didn’t scream ‘trying too hard’. He settles on a plain white tee, a simple graphic design adorning the front of it, and some blue patchwork jeans, pulling out a simple blue hoodie too. He lays the clothes out on his bed before making his way over to his mirror.
Minho’s soft brown, and still slightly purple, hair sticks out in off-shooting directions, and he runs his brush through the strands, happy that there isn’t too much of a fight to make his hair look acceptable. It settles across his forehead in soft waves, and he smiles at his reflection.
As he makes his way over to his bed to change into his clothes, his phone pings, alerting him to a new text. He checks and sees it’s from an unknown number, and he decides to ignore it for now, focusing on changing. He shrugs the t-shirt and jeans on, leaving the hoodie for later, before unlocking his phone and opening the text notification.
Unknown: i heard from a certain ferret-boy that ur back in town!
Unknown: thats great!
Unknown: oh its changbin btw!
Minho smiles as the final text message, quickly saving the contact to his phone as “Binnie 🙄’, before replying to him.
Minho🐱: Good to hear from you Changbin.
Minho🐱: And yeah, I’m back for the holidays!
The two exchange texts for a little while, Minho imparting his plans for the day to Changbin and Changbin mentions maybe meeting up with him and Hyunjin at the café next weekend. Minho smiles at that, sharing a similar sentiment. It’d be nice to see Changbin again, he can’t deny that.
Before he even knows it, 11:55am rolls around and Minho stands up from his bed, locking his phone and slipping it in his back pocket, before slipping his hoodie on, as well as picking out some simple white trainers and putting them on as well. When he goes downstairs, his mother is in the kitchen, Soonie purring and rubbing against her leg. He quickly tells her the plans, and says his farewell, stroking Soonie on the head, before shrugging on a navy blue coat and exiting the front door. Hyunjin is standing at the end of the pathway, enraptured by something on his phone, and Minho has to pause to take in just how gorgeous the younger looks.
Hyunjin’s short black hair looks soft where it curls in front of his eyes, occasionally being pushed away by Hyunjin’s hand when it inevitably gets in his way. Minho finds that, despite knowing Hyunjin with his longer hair, his short hair suits him just as well, maybe even slightly better. Minho takes in Hyunjin’s outfit. It’s all black, an unusual colour palette for Hyunjin, but Minho can’t deny the younger looks amazing. He’s wearing a simple button up, with a black turtleneck underneath, and it’s coupled nicely with a soft knit cardigan that’s hidden under the younger’s stylish coat. He’s paired it with a casual pair of jeans and some nice boots, and the outfit somehow just goes together so perfectly. It’s a uniquely Hyunjin thing, Minho thinks.
Minho whistles, a shrill high-pitched sound, startling Hyunjin from his browsing, the younger promptly dropping his phone. Minho laughs at that as he walks over, heat filling his cheeks when his eyes focus on the pout Hyunjin sends his way. The younger quickly snatches his phone off of the pavement, locking it before placing it in his coat pocket.
“A hello would’ve sufficed.” Hyunjin is still pouting, and Minho laughs at that.
“Sorry, just thought it’d be funny.” Minho responds and watches as Hyunjin’s pout slowly cracks and crumbles into a smile that sits prettily on his lips.
“You’re mean.” Hyunjin says, before looking Minho up and down and gasping. “Your outfit is so cute!” He continues and Minho flushes then, stammering over his words.
“Oh, uh, thank you. You look cute too. I mean, your outfit does!” Minho says, tripping over his words as he corrects himself and Hyunjin giggles into his hand. What was it about this gorgeous boy that turns Minho into a bumbling dim-witted fool?
“Thank you. Now come on, you’re gonna love the café!” Hyunjin says, linking his arm through Minho’s. Minho smiles at that, brain focused on the point of contact between him and Hyunjin and lets the younger practically drag him this way and that.
It’s good to be back, Minho muses. It’s really good.
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
The café is small, stuck between two large brand stores, but it’s bright and happy and Minho smiles at the energy that the building gives off. He crosses the street with Hyunjin, their arms still interlinked, before standing in front of the shop.
“It’s cute.” Minho muses as he takes in the bright strings of light and the delicate ice-covered flowers that hang outside the front door of the café. There’s a few people inside, waiters walking back and forth and an elderly couple holding hands as they sip their drinks, tender smiles on their faces. Minho adores how quaint this place looks and turns to Hyunjin with a smile on his face. The younger is already looking at him and they both flush at that.
“Come on, let’s go inside!” Hyunjin says, lightly tugging at Minho’s arm, and Minho laughs, allowing the younger to pull him inside.
Inside, the walls of the café are bright yellow, gorgeous pieces of art lining the walls, and the white tables only add to the brightness of the place. Vases of sunflowers line the tables and the counter, and Minho thinks he’s actually in love with this place. Trust Hyunjin to pick out somewhere so gorgeous for them to catch up.
“Come on, let’s order.” Minho says, finally detangling his arm from Hyunjin’s before making his way over to the counter. A young boy with blonde hair and a smattering of freckles across his face greets them and Hyunjin happily launches into a conversation with the boy.
“Felix! Hi, this is my friend Minho.” Hyunjin says, leaning across the counter with a wide smile on his face. Something akin to jealousy burns within Minho but he swallows it down, plastering a smile on his face instead of the frown that wants to implant itself there.
“Ah, you did mention him! Nice to meet you, Minho.” Felix says and Minho shoots him a smile, as genuine as he can make it. “What can I get you both?” He continues, eyes bright and smile wide, and Minho would completely understand if Hyunjin had a crush on this boy.
“Just a plain black coffee please.” Minho says and he goes to pull his wallet out when Hyunjin stops him, hand soft and gentle on Minho’s wrist.
“My treat, even if your drink choice is still the grossest thing ever.” Hyunjin giggles, the sound sweet and addicting, and Minho smiles at him, despite the comment. “I’ll get my usual.” Hyunjin continues as he turns back to Felix. The blonde boy nods his head, ringing up their order and Hyunjin pays quickly before dragging Minho off to a table. The table they settle on is a simple two-seater, a vase of sunflowers settled on the table against the wall, and it’s got a lovely view out of the windows.
Minho and Hyunjin don’t talk whilst they wait for their drink. Minho can feel Hyunjin’s eyes on him, but he stays staring out of the window, eyes entranced by the way the wind gently rattles and shakes the things outside. It’s nice being home, especially when its all winter-y and full of Christmas cheer, and he says as much to Hyunjin.
“Mhm, it’s great! Maybe we could take a walk into town one day? It’s all lovely and lit up!” Hyunjin says, eyes wide and flickering with excitement. Minho laughs softly at the younger’s enthusiasm before agreeing. A man with red hair comes over and hands them their drinks, quickly saying hi to Hyunjin. Minho takes a sip of his coffee and hums at the rich taste.
“So who’s that?” Minho asks once Hyunjin’s taken a sip of his own drink.
“That’s Chan! He’s the owner of this place, alongside Felix. They make such a cute but odd couple, right?” Hyunjin says, clapping his hands in excitement, mug settled on the table once more. Minho’s eyes widen at that.
“Couple?” Minho asks, the sound weird and foreign in his mouth.
“Mhm! They started dating in high school back in Australia and then they moved here, to South Korea, and opened up this cute little place.” Hyunjin says, eyes crinkled to accommodate his smile. “You’ll probably know two of the other people who work here. Seungmin and Jeongin?” Hyunjin says, tilting his head to the side in questioning curiosity. The action makes Minho’s heart sing, and he feels long buried feelings of love and adoration start to fight their way to the top of his heart.
“Uh vaguely. Seungmin was one of the student council members in your group, right?” Minho asks and Hyunjin nods. “I don’t remember Jeongin though…” Minho racks his brain for any thoughts of where he might know that name but ultimately comes up with zero ideas.
“You remember that kid, two years below me, who confessed to me that one Valentine’s Day? It’s him!” Hyunjin says and the memory does come crawling back to Minho then. He had buried it deep, sequestered away in the jealous little corners of his mind, but it sits in the centre of his mind now, uncovered and ugly.
“Does he still like you?” Minho asks, trying his best to not sound as jealous as he feels and Hyunjin laughs, shaking his head.
“Absolutely not. Watch him interact with Seungmin – he’s in love and everyone can tell, apart from Seungmin, apparently.” Hyunjin continues to laugh, and Minho laughs with him.
“Speaking of people we know, Changbin was talking about maybe joining us next time. Would that be okay?” Minho asks, sipping his coffee again, the bitter taste comforting on his tongue.
“Oo, yes! Changbin looks so different now, it’s honestly wild.” Hyunjin says and the two of them sink into a conversation of catching up and getting to know each other.
The day rushes pass them, the two of them refilling their drinks a few times before inevitably Hyunjin and Minho have to go home, the two bundling back into their coats and wishing Chan and Felix a good night as they exit through the door. The pair wish them well and Felix steps out from behind the counter to flip the door sign after they’ve left.
As Minho and Hyunjin walk through the night, cold wintery air nipping at their unprotected cheeks and noses, the two of them continue their reminiscing, completely unaware of the time and space around them until they turn onto their shared street, stopping outside of Minho’s house, and Hyunjin pouts.
“What’s wrong?” Minho asks, reaching a hand up to push a strand of Hyunjin’s black hair away from his delicate brown eyes. The younger follows the movement of his hand and flushes upon realising what he’s doing.
“I wanted to spend more time with you.” Hyunjin whispers, flushing a deeper shade of red and Minho laughs, the sound soft and gentle.
“We’ll meet up with Changbin next weekend, yeah?” Minho asks, bringing his hand up to brush against the skin of Hyunjin’s cheek, thumb gentle, and Hyunjin leans into his touch, a serene look settling on his face that makes Minho’s heart race and skitter about like a rabid dog.
“That’d be lovely.” Hyunjin whispers, eyes still closed, and Minho laughs before pulling away, the younger pouting at the loss of warmth.
“Go get some sleep, Hyunjin. I’ll see you on Saturday, yeah?” Minho asks and Hyunjin nods, hesitating before quickly leaning forward and kissing Minho’s cheek, a gentle point of warmth against his otherwise completely cold skin and before he can even react, Hyunjin is turning and leaving, a ‘bye Minho’ being yelled over his shoulder as he runs away, barely managing to avoid slipping on the ice. Minho watches after him with a fond look, before making his way up the driveway and pushing the door to his house open.
It was definitely good to be back.
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
The next Saturday tumbles around quicker than it has any right to and Minho gets out of bed at 11.33am, wincing when he realises the time. He’s meeting Hyunjin at twelve again, and now he only has twenty-seven minutes to get ready. Make that twenty-six.
Minho hadn’t been able to sleep all night, thoughts of Hyunjin plaguing his mind, and he’d finally fallen asleep sometime around 3am with thoughts of kissing Hyunjin racing behind his eyelids. He shakes his head at his own brain before stretching and crossing his room to find some cute clothes to change into.
Minho rifles through his closet for a while before settling on a cute pink, black and white argyle sweater, a white top to go underneath, and some blue jeans with white platforms sneakers. The clothes hang from his closet door, shoes discarded on his bed, and he quickly rubs some dry shampoo through her hair before styling it. The purple is mostly gone, just the very ends of his hair still lilac-y in nature, and he quickly styles the brown stands into something presentable.
After checking the time and seeing he only has twenty more minutes to get ready, Minho rushes into the bathroom, quickly brushing his teeth, before rushing back to get changed. The outfit looks cute on him, he admits that much, before he makes his way downstairs, shoes in hand, speaking to his mum as he sits on the staircase slipping his sneakers on.
His mother wishes him luck and, after delivering a quick kiss to the top of Doongie’s head, Minho shrugs on his black coat and steps out the door. Hyunjin is waiting for him at the gate, arm resting against the black metal as he looks at Minho with a big smile, and Minho can’t stop himself from smiling back at him, practically skipping down his driveway to greet the boy he maybe, sort of has started to develop a huge crush on.
“Hello Hyunjin. You look amazing.” Minho says, airing his thoughts, and really the younger does. He’s wearing a black coat, not too unlike Minho’s and Minho can make out a navy blue turtleneck sweater underneath the coat. He’s also wearing black jeans that effortlessly emphasise the younger’s beautiful long legs, and black boots that somehow match perfectly with the rest of the outfit in a way that Minho knows he’ll never be able to pull off. He looks stunning.
“Thank you. You look amazing yourself, Min.” Hyunjin says, smiling so sweet that Minho gets entranced by it for a little bit, until he shakes his head and offers his arm to Hyunjin.
“Thank you. Let’s head to the café, shall we?” Minho asks and Hyunjin giggles, linking his arm with Minho’s.
“Let’s go.”
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
The two arrive at the café fairly quickly, it’s bright disposition and enthusiasm already so familiar to Minho, and the two go to enter when Minho hears a voice yelling his and Hyunjin’s names. He turns to find a familiar face that he can’t quite pin down walking in their direction. Hyunjin unlinks their arms then, an excited squeal leaving his lips as he turns to hug the newcomer.
“Changbin, hi!” Hyunjin says and Minho’s eyes widen at that. He looks at the boy with confusion. What happened to the small and skinny Changbin he went to school with?
“Changbin?” Minho asks and Changbin turns to him then, a wide grin on his face.
“Mhm! It’s me. I know, I’ve changed a lot, but so have you.” Changbin says, laughing lightly as he looks Minho up and down. Minho supposes that Changbin’s response is a fair point to make and laughs with him.
“You’ve changed so much! But I must admit, you look healthier.” Minho says and Changbin visibly brightens at that, so Minho guesses he hit the nail on the head with his observation. Hyunjin giggles from beside them both before speaking.
“We should head inside now, yeah?” Hyunjin comments and the two older boys nod their heads before following Hyunjin into the café. The yellow walls fill him with joy and the fresh bundles of sunflowers on the table provide a warmth that rivals the coldness of the winds outside.
“Let’s order, my treat.” Minho says, shushing the other two when they try to protest and Changbin leads the way before abruptly stopping and turning to face Minho and Hyunjin, his cheeks red. Hyunjin laughs at that, before walking ahead of Changbin, allowing the shorter boy to hide behind him. Minho’s confusion is probably evident on his face, but he decides to push it to one side for now. He’ll interrogate the pair when they get to a table.
The boy who greets them is small and skittish, a tiny part of his blue hair sticking out and flicking up slightly at one side. The eyeliner around his eyes is smudged and messy, but the smile he gives the trio is bright and Minho appreciates that the boy matches the shop’s vibes. His name badge reads Jisung, and he quickly invites them all to order. Hyunjin and Minho order the same thing they had gotten the week before, and Changbin stutters out his order of a caramel hot chocolate, flushing when the boy behind the counter winks at him playfully. Once Minho has paid, they all settle around a table and Minho decides to confront Changbin and his still-flushed nature.
“Why are you so flushed and shy?” Minho asks and Changbin flushes harder then, cheeks the same vicious red as before. Hyunjin laughs next to Minho and Minho doesn’t look at him, too afraid his heart eyes will be visible.
“Changbin likes the cashier who served us. He’s been whipped for him since we first came here.” Hyunjin says and Changbin squeaks as his secrets are exposed. Minho laughs then, looking back at the boy who is making their drinks behind the counter. Felix has joined him and the two seem to be playfully flirting, but Minho knows that Felix is with Chan so brushes their interactions off as nothing more than friends that are comfortable in their relationship.
“Cute. I think you two would work.” Minho says and Changbin squeaks again, burying his face in his hands against the table.
“I keep trying to tell him that, but he just won’t listen to me.” Hyunjin continues, shrugging his shoulders. He opens his mouth to speak again when Jisung comes over, their drinks in tow. Changbin looks up then, smiling sweetly at Jisung, and Jisung returns the smile, a soft hue of pink visible on his puffy cheeks. He quickly hands out their drinks before sliding Changbin a slip of paper and running off, nearly tripping over his own feet as he goes. Everyone looks at the paper that is still loosely held between Changbin’s fingers and Minho snatches it before Changbin even realises, the younger protesting at having the precious slip of paper stolen from his very loose grip.
Minho’s eyes scan over the slip of paper and he smirks, folding it back up and handing it to Changbin again. Changbin accepts the paper but continues to stare at him, eyes laced with curiosity and a tinge of fear.
“What does it say?” Hyunjin pipes up from next to them, his hands gently laced around his mug. Minho picks up his own mug, taking a sip of his coffee and humming in appreciation, before responding, aware of how Changbin is still staring at him.
“It’s his phone number.” Minho replies, curt and to the point and he looks at Changbin then, the younger’s eyes wide as they blink up at him.
“Really?” Changbin asks, voice meek, and when Minho nods, Changbin opens the slip of paper up and lets a small ‘eep!’ slip out at the realisation that Minho wasn’t lying. He pulls his phone out, quickly copying the number in, before sending something to the number. Minho watches as the blue-haired boy behind the counter jumps lightly before pulling his phone out. He must’ve seen the message because he flushes red and ducks down behind the counter. Minho laughs at that before relaying what he witnessed to Changbin and Hyunjin. Changbin flushes red but smiles sweetly. Hyunjin laughs.
“You’re whipped.”
--
The rest of their time at the café goes by quickly, their drinks being drained and even a second round (that Hyunjin insisted on buying) goes quickly too. Eventually Changbin has to leave, having to wake up early in the morning for work, and Minho wishes him luck.
“It was great to see you again, Min!” Changbin says as they all get ready to leave. Minho smiles at him and ruffles his hair, returning the sentiment, before letting the younger go. He then turns to Hyunjin, only to find the taller already staring at him. Hyunjin flushes a light pink then and turns away. Minho bites back the urge to laugh at the younger.
“Let me walk you home.” Minho says and Hyunjin turns to him then, a soft smile on his lips. Minho tries not to stare at the younger and his oh-so-kissable lips, but considering he’s been holding back from kissing him all day, Minho isn’t exactly succeeding.
“I’d like that.” Hyunjin says and Minho links their arms again, the two of them heading back to their street.
They make small talk as they walk but eventually snow starts falling and Hyunjin trails off mid-comment about the owners of the café with a gasp. Minho turns to look at him and finds himself enraptured by the twinkle lighting up Hyunjin’s eyes.
“You wanna dance in the snow with me?” Minho asks, catching Hyunjin off-guard. It was something Hyunjin had mentioned wanting to do when they were younger. It had snowed when they were together one night, Hyunjin having a sleepover at Minho’s house, and he’d brought it up. It was too late at night for either of them to do it and by the time next winter rolled around, Minho was jetting off around the world with BTS. But Minho had never forgotten. Hyunjin turns to stare at him, eyes wide and starry.
“You remembered?” Hyunjin asks and Minho nods.
“Come ‘ere.” Minho says, holding out his hand and Hyunjin happily takes it, allowing the older boy to pull him closer, their chests pressed together. The two slowly sway back and forth for a little bit until Hyunjin sniffles, and it’s only then that Minho realises Hyunjin is crying.
“Hey, no, Hyunjin, what’s wrong?” Minho asks, pulling his hands from Hyunjin’s to wipe at the younger’s tears.
“It’s just, this moment, it’s amazing, but I’m scared I’m just a thing for you to play with whilst you’re home. I’m scared the minute you leave to go off with BTS again, you’ll forgot about me.” Hyunjin sobs and Minho pulls the younger into a hug, rubbing his back and trying to soothe him.
“I’d never forget you, Hyunjin. I never did. I thought about you nearly every night when I couldn’t sleep. I, I think I might be in love with you, actually.” Minho whispers and Hyunjin tenses in his hold before sobbing again, hugging Minho tighter.
“I think I’m in love with you too. Always have been.” Hyunjin mutters into Minho’s neck and Minho smiles, tightening his own hold on Hyunjin.
“Then let’s forget about me leaving. I’ll still care for you, I’ll still be by your side, I’ll still, I’ll still love you, even when I’m away from you, Hyunjin.” Minho says, swallowing down his own tears threatening to form.
“You mean it?” Hyunjin whispers and Minho nods, a small ‘yep’ slipping from his lips as a few tears cluster in the corners of his eyes. Hyunjin pulls away from Minho then and sniffles a couple of times before leaning closer to Minho.
“Can I kiss you?” Hyunjin asks, voice whisper quiet and the warmth of Hyunjin’s breath makes Minho’s skin tingle, but he laughs softly despite the heat filling his cheeks.
“I’d love nothing more.”
