ququ reflects on how he’s become spoilt

Summary:

Cui Buqu had always had a very high pain tolerance. It wasn’t an advantage or a disadvantage, nothing to boast or complain about, but just a fact of life for him.

So why now is he suddenly hyper aware of everything wrong with his body?!

He’ll tell you why, it's that damn peacock's fault! That bastard surnamed Feng had been sneakily passing him spiritual energy at every encounter, gradually easing him into a pampered life of comfort, without vertigo, back pain, or shortness of breath, or anything else currently plaguing him.

Work Text:

Cui Buqu had always had a very high pain tolerance.

He supposed it came with a body like his, although much could be attributed to his own stubbornness and sheer mental willpower. Most ailments that would have an average man recuperating in the privacy of his own quarters were nothing but an everyday inconvenience to him.

It wasn’t an advantage or a disadvantage, nothing to boast or complain about, but just a fact of life for Cui Buqu.

And now, both of them had been busy with their work for a while, and hadn’t seen each other in quite some time.

So Cui Buqu had been having withdrawal symptoms without the extra qi his body had, without his knowledge, become so reliant on. Sneaky fucking asshole. He would have actually rather had Feng Xiao force feed him another dose of Naihexiang, at least that would have saved him some face.

It was at moments like these that he realised how much he missed Qiao Xian. She would’ve noticed exactly what was bothering him and had bitter medicine ready for it within the week, without him having to say a single thing.

So the next time that narcissistic peacock broke into the Zuoyue Bureau, Cui Buqu slapped him. Feng Xiao didn’t make any attempt to dodge, but it didn’t hurt him at all either. In fact, Feng Xiao looked like Cui Buqu had thrown a feather at him, yet another very frustrating drawback of this terrible body he was occupying.

“Ququ! Is that any way to treat this dear beautiful wife who’s missed you so much?” Feng Xiao laughed shamelessly. The strands of his shoulder length hair fell to frame his neck as he gave a playful tilt of his head.

Cui Buqu ignored him, grabbing his hands instead. And sure enough, Feng Xiao was transferring him spiritual energy instinctively, as if it were an unconscious habit.

He couldn’t believe he’d somehow actually developed an addiction to this man!
