Summary
The vampire was a gift. Kind of.
In the aftermath of a raid on yet another fight ring (permanently cropping up in the news despite all boasted efforts to put a stop to them), he was one of the lucky ones. Rescued. Saved from his violent fate by oh-so-kind humans eager to put him in the proper sort of home instead.
Personally, you think there’s something uniquely cruel about tearing vampires out of the only way of living they’ve ever known, then judging their ultimate worth on their ability to adapt to something entirely different— but no one is asking you. You’re just the semi-unwilling recipient of someone else’s cast-aside pity project, too broken to be passed onto anyone else.
