Conversations with Companions

Summary:

I got inspired to write out some fictional supportive and humorous dialogues with companions from Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Chapter 1: Prompt: Companions react to Sole/Courier being woken up by a nightmare

Chapter Text

Joshua Graham: You wake up to the feeling of cold holy water hitting you in the face. You sit up, prodding at the water dripping off your face. "There," He speaks in a low, even tone. "The demons of hell will haunt you no longer." He screws the cap on his tactical holy water (it's holy water in metal flask he keeps on his person, just for moments like this. Devil works hard, but Joshua works harder)

Boone: "There, there." He grunts, stiff and awkward. If he had a broom, he would consider petting you with its bristles - staying far away, least he feel something other than rage

No-bark Noonan: slaps you awake

Lily: Offers milk and cookies in a moderately terrorizing way

Strong: Where are they? Want to kill

Nick: Would hear the sounds of you struggling in the bed as he is reviews case files. He'd quickly rise from his desk and visit the bedroom at the back of his agency. He'd see you there, curled into the fetal position, clinging to the blanket wet with your tears. Valentine would sit next to you on the bed and offer pleasant reassurance (stroking your hair, 'it's only a dream, you're safe here', cuddles, snacks - whatever would sooth sole best)

Deacon: Would off you a hot drink. Once you are feeling better, he'd take you on a fun adventure with him. Deacon had a lead on an underground/black market trade circle. Deacon uses this lead as an excuse to pretend to be someone else, even just temporarily. The two of you put on your disguises and pose as traders, looking for goods.

Hancock: Familiar to the pain of life, he knows the right combination of chems to help with the exhaustion of waking from the horrors of lingering/haunting memories.

Cait: "You too!?" Offers a high five, "Up top!"

Curie: "Monsieur/Madame, what eva could be ze problem? I see no sign of phizical harm, but....you are so pale. What can I do to aid you?"

Preston: "Something happen that I should know about, General?" I'm also sure Preston would give the royalty treatment sole deserves for the remainder of the day. After much rest and pampering, Sole feels much better <3

Piper: "Woah! Take it easy, Blue! It's just me. You were really worked up just a moment ago - what happened?" Piper wants to hear Sole out, really get to the bottom of these nightmares. And if she finds out the source is [a person/problem that can handled], there is hell to pay - and everyone in Diamond City is going to know. Oh yes, Piper is getting justice

X6-88: "You're going to get us noticed. Cut it out." ice cold Sole needs a blanket just to recover from X6-88 chillish remarks

Chapter 2: Prompt: Fallout companions patching you up

Chapter Text

Cait: Wraps a cloth bandage around your arm, tying a knot with the last bit of cloth at the place of your injury. The bandage is secure without being too tight, a tribute to the many years Cait had wrapped her own injuries. The pain of your sprain lowly fades. "Don't mention it, rather have you in fightin shape."

Curie: She's a Wizz at it! So many years spent in a lab, researching. She knows exactly how to patch you, no matter the injury or sickness. She's always impressed with the resilience of the human body.

Glory: "Rub some dirt in it, we got a lot more ground to cover" The railroad heavy is heavy set on getting out of harms way and back to headquarters.

Deacon: Deacon isn't a fan of blood 'n gore. He can feel his stomach practicing cartwheels as he watches the blood wind down your leg and pool at your feet. He brings Dr.Carrington over to patch you up. Once you've had a chance to rest, he'll check up on you. And this is where he shines - bringing a smile to your face despite the pain in your leg.

Preston: He is at the ready on a moments notice with his handy first aid kit. It's organized and neat. He takes his time cleaning and patching you up; taking special consideration to be gentle. He'll tell you a story or two about some settlements he had helped in the past.

Danse: The man is a brave and proficient soldier. He'd use the protection and strength of his power armor to get you out of trouble and somewhere safe. Once he finds a safe place to lay you down, his demeanor quickly changes from bold leader to concerned lover. He'll ask about your pain. If you need a doctor, he'll find one. If you need food or otc medicine, he'll bring it right to you. Danse'll do everything he can to protect you during this vulnerable state.

Hancock: The man's a walking pharmacy. He quite literally has it all and knowhow to get you exactly what you need and at the right dose. You see your bright smile reflected in his glossy noir eyes. Maybe it's the high, but perhaps you've never seen such deeply caring eyes.

Nick Valentine: The synth has seen many injuries in this lifetime and past. He knows how exactly how to get you back on your feet. As he bends over your knee, fussing over your injury, you feel safe and secure. You watch his mechanical hand secure the bandage, surprisingly talented at such delicate work.

Nick knows he shouldn’t, but he can’t help but feel partially to blame. The detective’s life isn’t a cushy one and often gets him, and by extension you, in precarious circumstances. As a mechanical man, he doesn’t feel pain to the extent a flesh and blood human may. And when he’s injured, the repairs take just as long as it takes to find parts. A human body? Well, the healing process is much more complicated. He’ll be giving you preferential treatment over the next week at least.

Dog meat: He will lick, lick, and lick you some more. You’ll take his soft, fluffy cheeks and guide them away from your gash. You had no idea where that pup’s tongue has been and it probably shouldn’t be giving you first aid. But you give him a good pat and praise him. Good boi

X6-88: His dry bedside manner could use some work. But the treatment to your injury is perfect, no waste and perfect sufficient.

Piper: She'd give some sass, scold you playfully for being so reckless. She'll patch you up just fine, but not without a Lil slap on the wrist
