Not for the Rabbit (Full Moon Ficlet #521 - Rabbit)

Summary:

Derek wakes to Stiles yelling at Scott. He can't wait to find out what happened this time.

Notes:

Greetings & Salutations!

I wrote this quickly, mainly because I couldn't get the title out of my head.

Big thanks to Marie and Jenn for the beta and support.

I have not watched the Teen Wolf movie, and I'm not in any hurry to do it now that I know what happens. That said, I have no plans to stop writing Sterek. I love these idiots, and no matter what Jeff says or does, they are endgame in my heart.

Enjoy!

xx-Joey

Don't know 'em. Don't own 'em. Don't show 'em.

Work Text:

“No! No! Absolutely not!” Stiles shouted, jerking Derek awake from the nap he and Tonia-Talia were taking in the chair nestled into the corner of the library.

“Dude! What is your problem?” Scott’s voice carried up the stairs even without the help of supernatural hearing.

Derek rose to his feet, Tonia-Talia climbing to his shoulder as he headed down the stairs as quickly as possible without dislodging his passenger. He slowed when claws dug into his shoulder, and Claw-dia leaped from the newel post onto his other shoulder.

“You cannot come into this house with that!” Stiles screamed, his voice high-pitched and panicked.

Derek didn’t even hesitate. He reached up, grabbing one cat in each hand and tucking them like footballs under his arms as he leaped down the rest of the steps. The cats raced off as soon as he landed. He spotted Noah watching him, tail twitching and knew he’d have to do the same with the daredevil later. After he figured out why Stiles was so panicked.

He sniffed the air but didn’t smell anything strange. He couldn’t imagine what Scott would be trying to bring into the house that would upset Stiles. He smelled Sir Cinnabunbun, and the bunny’s heart beat even more rapidly than usual. Stiles’ wasn’t much slower.

He hurried to the door to find Stiles holding Sir Cinnabunbun to his chest, one hand over the rabbit’s eyes. He was glaring hard enough at Scott that he was surprised the boy didn’t burst into flames. At Stiles’ feet sat Bastian, the cat who considered himself the bunny’s protector, with a glare to rival Stiles’. Derek searched over Scott to find the offending object, but the only thing Scott held were his keys with the ridiculous number of keychains.

“Dude, it’s just a lucky charm!” Scott said, holding up his keys to reveal an unnaturally blue-colored rabbit’s foot keychain.

“Not for the rabbit!” Stiles said, jerking his chin towards the fidgeting bunny in his arms.

Derek bit back a laugh and could tell Scott was doing the same. He shook his head before going back outside and putting the keys in the wheel well of his mom’s car and looking at Stiles expectantly. Stiles’ face twisted in angry consideration before he nodded, uncovering Sir Cinnabunbun’s eyes and turning to go into the living room.

Scott followed, and Derek turned to find Noah climbing up his pant leg, meowing loudly. Shaking his head, he picked him up under his arm and headed up the stairs.
