tit for tat

Summary:

The Jnagarbha Day conspirators (minus the Traveler) get drunken commemorative tattoos.

Kaveh has some questions.

Notes:

I asked myself, "what is the minimum quantity of fic needed to justify this fic title in relation to Alhaitham?" and this fic came out >:D

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Alhaitham woke up at home, severely hungover and freshly tattooed.

In hindsight, it was all Rahman’s fault.

Rahman had brought a considerable quantity of homebrewed desert moonshine on his visit to Sumeru City, which he then shared with his fellow participants in the Jnagarbha Day plot. Alhaitham could usually hold his alcohol, but when Rahman drunkenly proposed that they all get a commemorative tattoo to celebrate the success of their unlikely cooperation and mark Sumeru’s new beginning, and so on, Alhaitham went along with it.

He wished he had been sober enough to agree for politics' sake — it was worth staying on Rahman’s good side, considering his connections among the Eremites — but no. Alhaitham, like everyone else, had simply been too drunk to object.

He pursed his lips and looked at his shirtless reflection.

Well, it wasn’t so bad, really. If he was lucky, he might be able to get away without too many questions. The subject matter might be unfortunate, but at least it was located somewhere easily covered by his usual clothes (poor Cyno). And the tattoo had been competently, even artistically done.

"… Alhaitham, why do you have a tattoo of a radish on your chest?" said Kaveh.

Notes:

This is the tattoo they all got:

And this is how Cyno looks now (poor Cyno, indeed):
