Work Text:
Death.
It's a funny thing? Isn't it? Something can bring so many different emotions at once. Anger was one of those. Deep fiery anger. Sadness as well, a pool of sadness that doesn't need to much breaking till it all floods out.
Those were the two emotions Charlie felt as he walked in to see Juanaflippa dead. He had grasped onto her and yelled her name. Tried every trick in the book to wake her up but she was dead. A sob escaped his throat as he grasped onto the flower Flippa had given to him. Sadness. Though suddenly..anger came as well. Where was Mariana? Charlie stood up, and pushed up his glasses to wipe away his tears with his arm and he breathed in deeply. He placed the flower behind his ear, sniffling.
He pushed his glasses back down and he started to go down the ladder. That's when he heard the door open. A rage bubbled up inside of him, and he found himself drawing his sword as he shakily stepped out of the hidden door to see his wife. Suddenly something inside of him snapped. He shoved Mariana, almost pushing him to the ground. Mariana looked at him with an angry but confused expession.
"¡¿Que chingados es tu problema?!(What the fuck is your problem?..!)" Mariana pushed Charlie back, harsher causing him to stumble. He didn't even care to read the translator as it spelt out the words in English to him, he could tell what Mariana yelled at him.
"You.. fucking bitch!" Charlie suddenly yelled, venom spilling out of his tone laced deeply against his words. "What the fuck is my problem?! What is your problem?..! Where the fuck where you yesterday?..!" He threw his arms up in the air, sword almost falling out of his hands.
"I'm the bitch?! ¡No me has dicho qué ocurre!(You haven't even told me what's wrong!)" Mariana yelled back, this time Charlie read the translator. Tears dared to prick in his eyes once again, and his grip against the sword tightened. He let out an angry cry as he slashed against Marianas arm, causing the other to gasp in pain and step back to grab against the gash. Blood seeped again his sleeve, and the sword now wore a crimson liquid.
"Our daughter..is fucking dead! You you were supposed to take care of her!" Charlie watched Mariana start to read the translator, the anger swirling in the other man's eyes seemed to spark with a deep sorrow paired with that anger. They both stood there for a moment, and then a fist was landed against Charlies face, blood splattering from his nose. His glasses didn't fall off, but they cracked and barely hung on.
"Tu fuiste la persona que tenía que cuidarla, culero! Hijo de puta! Dejaste morir nuestra hija!”(You were the one who was supposed to be taking care of her you fucking bitch! You..you fucker! You let out daughter die!)" Mariana grasped onto Charlie's shirt, letting him read the translator. Both of them were fuming, pots of boiling water overflowing right next to each other. Both were filled with deep sorrow for their daughter, their little girl. Charlie landed a punch back against Mariana causing him to let go. Tears were spilling from both of them. Charlie shakily pushed his glasses back on and he grabbed an arrow from his backpack.
"No..no you! You were supposed to take care of her!" Charlie spat, he didn't even care to use a bow he just pushed Mariana against the wall and stabbed the arrow into his arm. Mariana screamed in pain, and closed his eyes tightly as he pushed Charlie off of him into the ground, grabbing his own sword as he slashed at the others leg. He grabbed an arrow from his own equipment stabbing it into Charlie's arm.
"You! It was your day!" Mariana yelled as Charlie sucked in a scream, and bit his hand glaring at Mariana. Pain pulsed from the gash in his leg but he felt the need to kill. To at least bring deep pain to Mariana. Blood was spilling from both of them. They both looked fucked up. Charlie pushed Mariana off of him, and he struggles to even stand. His legs wobbled, and tears spilled from his eyes. His gaze landed on the ground as he saw a flower. Crushed. His breath hitched, and he fell down onto his knees again a sob breaking loose as he cupped his hands picking up the flower.
"No.." he whispered. The anger in him disappeared for a moment, being pulled away by a wave of sadness. He shakily looked at Mariana who stared at him with as much anger and sorrow he felt. He held the flower in his hands, and felt that anger come back like an erupting volcano. He tried his best to stand up, pain pulsing deeply from the gash. "Fuck you!" He yelled as he went to try and attack Mariana once again. He could barely see as the furious look in Marianas eyes seemed to swirl away. Before he could even punch Mariana he felt arms around him, and he froze. Both of them were silent for a moment, and Charlie felt his legs give out as they both fell onto the ground.
"Charlie, Slime..no hay un punto en pelear.. Juanaflippa ya esta muerta.(There is no point in fighting, Juanaflippa is already dead.)" Charlie glanced at Marianas translator, watching it spell the words out for him. His lip quivered, and a sob broke through his throat as he wrapped his arms around Mariana the flower falling from his hand. He closed his eyes, and leaned his head into Marianas shoulder not caring if his glasses were pushed off. He could hear, and feel Mariana start to sob as well. He felt one of Marianas arms leave him, and then felt a hand against his ear feeling the flower back behind it.
"She wouldn't want us fighting.." his voice was barely above a whisper, raspy and sorrowful. He could feel Mariana shake his head. Both of them were shaking with sobs. They let Juanaflippa die.
They sat in silence for what seemed like hours, holding onto eachother as they cried. Soon there were no more tears to cry but they didn't move, they just sat there. Juanaflippa was dead. Mariana pulled away from the hug after hours of simply sitting there. He kissed Charlie's head, causing the other to lightly shudder.
"Funeral..necesita un funeral.(she needs a funeral)." He said in a gentle voice, Charlie read the translator and nodded slowly. They both stood up after a bit, Mariana wrapped an arm around Charlie to hold him up. They two of them got some food and healed themselves. It was an odd feeling for both of them, but they wrapped each other's wounds.
--
They found flowers, similar to the one Juanaflippa had given Charlie. Placing it up on her grave Charlie felt a tear roll down his cheek, and he stood up. He found himself grabbing onto Marianas hand a permanent frown on his face.
"We love you, Flippa.." He said, glancing at Mariana.
"Y lo lamentamos.(And we're sorry)" Charlie didn't have to read the translator this time, he knew exactly what Mariana said. They had made a promise, to never argue again. For Juanaflippa, because they knew it hurt her when they argued. And maybe they could start to heal again. But there would always be a hole in their heart, after what had happened.
