“Rui-kun! Nene-chan!”
Emu runs joyfully at Rui and Nene who were earlier than usual to practice.
“Thanks for being here!”
The pink hair girl catches her breath as Rui spoke.
“It’s fine Emu-kun, what was it you wanted to speak to both of us about?”
Nene and Rui looks at Emu in a curious manner.
“Well it’s about Tsukasa-kun! I don’t know what’s happening lately but,”
Emu starts to do weird hand gestures that made it seem like she was going crazy but was actually just her being her usual self.
“See I’m like this! And my mind is silent-and then my heart goes THWUMP with a BWOOM and I feel like there’s something wrong! There’s like fireworks inside me! It’s harder to talk to Tsukasa-kun when he just stares at me!”
Ever since Rui and Nene met Emu, they’ve had to understand her own way of speaking. At times like this a regular person wouldn’t be able to understand, but the two childhood friends perfectly knew what Emu meant.
“Say Emu, do you like Tsukasa?”
“Yeah I like him a lot! A lot lot!”
The green hair girl sighed internally as she looks at the tall man next to her who was finding this amusing.
“I think she doesn’t know what we mean by like..”
Nene and Rui stared at each other with a knowing look.
They had a small glint in their eyes as they knew that Emu and Tsukasa were really down bad for each other.
The only problem was their obliviousness towards their own feelings.
It seems they were gonna have to do something about it.
“WAGHH EMU IS SO CUTE!”
Tsukasa rants and yells as always, this time talking about the girl he had a crush on.
“Woah Tsukasa-kun, you should quiet down cause Emu-kun might come out of nowhere and hear you.”
Rui tries to calm down the blond hair boy who seemed like he wasn’t going to get any quieter.
“Yeah we still have practice remember? We had to come earlier than usual just to help you and your problems with Emu..”
Nene once again sighed.
It was a reoccurring thing for Emu and Tsukasa to ask her and Rui for help.
The said help consisted of having to help the loud girl with her crush and the loud boy with his crush.
Nene was always this close to saying, ‘he likes you, or she likes you!’
It was hard having to deal with them everyday when all their problems could be solved if Nene or Rui had told them about the other’s feelings. Though they decided against it for the wishes of Tsukasa and Emu.
“WAHAAHAA!”
Emu yells out of nowhere making Tsukasa jump alarmed.
“Emu?!”
“You guys seem to be just on time!”
Tsukasa stood silent but when he realized how Emu just recently arrived his face flushed and turned into a pinkish red.
“Did you hear what we were talking about just now?”
“Nope! What were you guys talking about? Well nevermind! Anyways are we going to practice for our new show?”
A sigh of relief could be heard beside Nene and Rui, telling them that Tsukasa felt relieved that Emu hadn’t heard their previous conversation.
Nene brushes her fingers against Rui’s own purposefully, making him look at the girl next to him.
They stared at each other without a word, but the look they shared had many words behind it.
‘They’re doomed.’
‘They so are.’
“Mom I’ll be heading upstairs with Rui.”
“Don’t do anything suspicious! And leave your door open!”
“I know.”
Nene goes up the stairs with Rui following. They head inside Nene’s room and they both plop on her bed.
Not even a second later, Rui grabs onto Nene’s wrists and starts to kiss her aggressively, forgetting what her mom had previously just said.
“Rui! Mmph- We need to-!”
A moment had passed and they finally pulled away from each other, a smug look forming on Rui’s face while Nene seemed out of breath.
They gazed into each other’s eyes until Nene’s wrists were finally let go, she tackled Rui on the bed and straddled his lap with a mad but somewhat calm expression on her face.
Rui’s heart began to clutch at the sight of her pinning him down but said nothing in case he might anger his lover even more.
“Okay okay, I’m sorry.”
Rui laughs bemusedly as Nene gets up from him and gives him a hand so he can sit up straight.
Taking the hand in front of him, Rui pulls a smooth move and pulls Nene towards him who’s now in his embrace.
“Seriously, you..”
Considering Rui’s height, he placed his chin on top of Nene’s head softly and wrapped his arms around her waist.
After a comfortable atmosphere had settled between the two, it was time to plan things out.
“So we should plan the date.. Oh wait, I have an idea.”
Nene tilts her head at Rui who only looked at her with a confused look.
Her purple eyes brightened as she explained the idea to him who agreed on everything that was said.
The plan was to set Tsukasa and Emu on a date tomorrow, where they had no practice. The date was gonna be held in the theme park where they would lead the two to meet together but watch over them secretly.
“We’ll do it?”
“Sound like a great plan, as expected of my smart girlfriend.”
Rui places a kiss on Nene’s tinted pink cheek who got up and grabbed her phone.
She skims through it till they land on their group chat that consisted of all four of them.
Nene
Hey can we meet at phoenix wonderland tomorrow?

“ The way they text is always scaring me sometimes..”
“Well they’re usually like that aren’t they?”
“Yeah, they’re really fit for each other.”
“Just like us.” A smirk appears on Rui’s face as he once again tackles Nene to her bed and pampers her.
“ Is she here yet?”
Nene asks as she places her hands in her pocket.
She observes the theme park for a loud pink hair girl somewhere but to no avail her presence still wasn’t here.
“Doesn’t seem like it.”
Rui pushes his sunglasses further into his face as he also searches for Emu.
“Well let’s just see what Tsukasa does first.”
The said blond man stood there while on his phone as people passed by him.
After a while had gone by there was still no sign of Emu. Tsukasa seemed to have gotten tired from standing that he went to retreat to an empty bench nearby.
A gust of wind rushes through Nene and Rui, their long trench coats flowed behind them while their wigs were swaying crazily but the hats both of them wore kept them in place.
They decided that while they kept an eye out on this date they would wear disguises.
It was quite hectic yesterday since once Rui and Nene formed the plan they rummaged through everything in their house to find clothing, wigs, sunglasses, hats, and anything else that could shield them from being caught.
After a while of searching, they both found the items they were looking for. The day prior of the date, they tried on many things they found. They came to a conclusion on what was the best disguise.
Nene wore a brown wig and on top of it was a fedora hat. Her clothing comprised of a long trench coat and under it was a white shirt. Her pants were a dark navy blue colour.
The same applies to Rui but instead wore a black wig. Together they would look like a matching couple who was on a date to Phoenix Wonderland. How unsuspicious of them.
“There she is.”
Rui looks over to what Nene was talking about and sees Emu running straight toward Tsukasa, almost about to hug him but came to a stop.
“Tsukasa-kun!”
“Emu!”
The loud jumpy girl covered Tsukasa’s figure giving Nene and Rui a hard time to see what was happening.
“Hey let’s move so we can get a better view.”
Rui grabs onto Nene’s hand and together they move towards a cotton candy stand next to Tsukasa and Emu.
“Is Rui-kun and Nene-chan here yet?”
“It seems they aren’t.” Tsukasa looks around impatiently.
“Ok let’s wait together!”
Emu says with a smile on her face as she sits down next to Tsukasa on the bench.
Their hands brushed against one another and they both quickly pulled their hands away.
“Oh sorry..” Emu bashfully muttered while Tsukasa just awkwardly laughed.
“Geez were they always this awkward? Emu always hugged Tsukasa now they’re so stiff with each other. I don’t remember they were like this at all..”
Nene shuddered as she watched the pair in front of her with difficulty.
“Doesn’t it remind you of us my sweet Nene?”
Rui reaches over to pinch Nene’s cheeks only for his hand to be lightly slapped away.
“Hey be serious!”
A notification rang in Nene and Rui’s phone making them reach for their devices in their pockets.
“Hm? A text from the group chat?”
Rui questions as he opens the text.
Tsukasa
Are you guys here yet? Me and Emu are waiting.

Luckily the day before, Nene and Rui came up with many excuses on what to say if they were asked this question by Tsukasa or Emu.
Nene
Something came up, our parents wants us to help out with a dinner that’s happening today. Me and Rui won’t be able to come so I apologize. Just go on with Emu. ;)
Nene intentionally added a wink at the end to hint at Tsukasa that it was his chance.
And the dinner excuse, well it already happened yesterday but it was the best excuse they could come up with. It wasn’t technically a lie since they did have to help.
In the distance they could see Tsukasa and Emu talking to one another.
“It seems they aren’t going anymore.” Emu says with a downcast tone as she looks over at Tsukasa’s phone.
“Do you want to do something Emu?”
“I haven’t eaten yet.. So let’s go get some food!”
Emu jumps up from the bench and Tsukasa follows.
“They’re making their move!”
Rui states hurriedly as he and Nene quickly followed the pair but made sure to create a distance between them.
“Ooh Tsukasa-kun look!”
Emu beams with excitement as she runs off and lines up at a food stand selling sweets.
“Emu!” Tsukasa rushes by Emu’s side and now they’re both lining up.
“Wanna get some food as well Nene?”
“Yeah we haven’t we eaten yet as well..”
Rui and Nene lined up, a couple of people are in front of them so Tsukasa and Emu couldn’t possibly see where or who they were.
Once the loud duo had gotten their food they went to go sit down at a table nearby that was out for customers.
“Ah Tsukasa-kun! Your dorayaki looks so good! Can I try?!”
Nene looks over to where the loud voice came from and opens her eyes widely.
“Rui look..”
“Hm?”
When Rui glanced at what was happening his mouth slightly fell open.
Tsukasa leaned over the table and was feeding Emu his food and the pink hair girl seemed to be enjoying it. This display of affection shouldn’t have been surprising but yet it was.
“They act like this and then get embarrassed when they even brush hands.”
“Goodness.” Nene felt like she was about to smack her head but goes against it when it was her and Rui’s turn to order.
Once they’ve gotten their food Rui and Nene sit at a table nearby so they could hear Emu and Tsukasa’s conversation.
Not that it wasn’t a problem to hear them-they were already loud enough to begin with.
“Done already Emu?”
“Yeah!”
Tsukasa and Emu got up from their seats and started to wander off somewhere else.
“Shoot they’re leaving already?!”
Nene panics but is immediately silenced when Rui takes a piece of his food and shoves it into her mouth.
“Mphm-?”
Nene’s eyebrows furrows in confusion but looks at Rui’s face who seemed to be panicked as well.
“I think I forgot my phone here Tsukasa-kun!”
Emu approached the table her and Tsukasa previously sat and went on a search for a phone.
Rui and Nene stood still to not gather unwanted attention, they became frozen like statues in less than a second.
“I found it!”
Emu proudly shows her finding to Tsukasa who only huffed out of breath after chasing her.
“Ok, since you’ve found it let’s go now?”
“Okay!” Emu gleefully says but comes to a stop when her eyes land on Rui and Nene.
“Hey Tsukasa-kun..”
The couple could feel Emu’s eyes on them and they felt like the pink hair girl could see right through them.
Rui looks at Nene with panic evident in his eyes. He starts to mouth out ‘what do we do?’ but Nene only looked around anxiously.
“What is it?”
“Look at those two..” Emu’s voice trailed off, wavering a bit towards the end.
“Aren’t they so cute! See see they’re matching!”
Tsukasa looked at the couple that piqued Emu’s interest. “Seriously let’s go now. The line to the ferris wheel is probably getting longer.”
“Ok ok!”
Dragging Emu far away from the food stand, Tsukasa took one last look at the couple and noticed something peculiar.
There was a purple strand peaking out from the black hair of the man.
As soon as Tsukasa and Emu were out of sight, Nene immediately slouched and leaned on the metal chair she was sitting on-letting out an exhale that it seemed she was holding in.
“I thought we got caught..”
Rui lets out a chuckle seeing his girlfriend’s reaction.
“Well we should follow them again. It seemed their next destination was the ferris wheel.”
Quickly finishing their food, they both got up from their seats and made their way towards the ferris wheel.
“Oh look there they are.” Rui points out to Nene who hummed in agreement.
“They’re really enjoying their time together.”
“Even already doing our job for us.”
Taking Nene’s hand into his own they once again lined up.
A few minutes had passed due to the length of the line but luckily Tsukasa and Emu had already gotten into a cart and now it was Rui and Nene’s turn.
Once they were inside the cart it started to move. Rui held Nene in his arms fondly as they watched the sky around them starting to change colour.
“You’re affectionate today.”
“Aren’t I always?” Rui spoke with a gentle tone as he snuggled with Nene.
In the cart in front of them, they could see Tsukasa and Emu laughing horrendously at each other.
“Well being like this is nice.” Nene smiles as she allows herself to be embraced by Rui’s warmth.
Getting out of the ferris wheel with their hands together was a nice and warm feeling.
As always they continued on with their plan on watching Emu and Tsukasa.
Their interactions had been getting better and they could tell they got more comfortable with one another.
Rui and Nene watched from afar as Tsukasa hands a pink teddy bear to Emu since he won a game.
Emu jumps in delight after receiving a gift from him.
“Even though they’re interacting more it seems like they’re still hanging out as ‘friends.’”
Hearing Nene’s sentence, an idea pops up in Rui’s head. “I know what to do. Wait for me here ok?”
Nene looks skeptically at Rui who ran towards a souvenir shop that was nearby.
A moment later he comes back with a pack of balloons.
“What are you planning on doing with this exactly..?”
Nene looks at Rui, nonchalant as ever.
“You’ll see.”
Rui approaches Emu and Tsukasa feeling confident. Nene watched as Rui stumbles on a rock almost making him trip.
I love him yet he’s so dumb.
Nene chuckles silently as she pays attention on what’s about to happen.
“Oh you’re the guy who was matching with the girl from earlier!” Emu’s eyes brighten with enthusiasm.
“Fufu, you’re right! But I come here on a different matter.”
Rui takes a balloon and makes it into a heart shaped version, handing it over to Emu.
“This is for you two. Seeing how lovely you guys are as a couple here’s a heart for a heart that is together as one!”
Nene smacks her head in disbelief while Tsukasa looks at Rui with confusion.
Emu who understood Rui’s language began to blush profusely.
“Me and him aren’t a couple!” The pink hair girl continued to get flustered even more as Rui tried to hand her the heart shaped balloon.
Tsukasa was eyeing him suspiciously and Rui started to feel nervous.
Did he find me out?
Rui looked at Nene anxiously who stared back seriously.
“Thanks..” Tsukasa says as he takes the balloon from Rui’s hand.
An awkward smile forms on Rui’s face as he rushed back to Nene’s side without saying a word.
Once Tsukasa and Emu was looking away Rui immediately huffed tiredly.
“Did Tsukasa-kun find me out?”
“I wonder how I put up with you everyday.”
“Well you’ve put up with me since we were kids.” Rui crushes over Nene once again with no shame. It felt like hearts were coming out of his eyes as he looked at Nene admiringly.
“Hehe that was fun!” Emu giggles, snuggling the pink teddy bear in her arms.
“Well this is for you.”
Tsukasa hands over the heart shaped balloon to Emu as her cheeks became pink.
“Thank you.”
Unconsciously, Tsukasa and Emu hold hands with one another-unaware of Rui and Nene as they fangirl in the back.
“Seems like my plan worked.”
Rui and Nene watched as Tsukasa and Emu took a familiar path, they were heading towards the Wonder Stage.
The couple hid in the bushes as they watched Tsukasa and Emu say words to one another.
“Let’s get closer. I can’t hear them.”
Together, Rui and Nene hide behind a tree. Unfortunately on the way there she trips on a rock and lands on Rui painfully.
Nene’s hat falls off making her brown hair sway with the wind.
Leaves were rustling from the fall and a loud thud was heard alarming Tsukasa and Emu.
“What was that?”
Tsukasa looks around warily and after a second of pure silence his attention is diverted to something else.
Nene frantically gets off Rui and goes on a search for her hat.
Rui sat there stiffly as he watched Nene panic.
“Nene, I have your hat. It’s alright.”
“Oh thank you.”
Nene blushes embarrassingly as she goes back to Rui’s side to watch Tsukasa and Emu.
“What is it Tsukasa-kun?”
Emu questions, her left arm holding onto the teddy bear and the other holding onto the balloon.
“Well I’m just nervous- No well, I have something I want to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Rui looks over to Nene who was staring at him back.
“I think it’s best if we give them their privacy now.”
Nene nods in agreement. “I think our job here is done although we didn’t do much.”
Rui smiles warmly at Nene and they both silently walk away from the scene as Emu and Tsukasa finally confess to each other.
“Me and Tsukasa-kun are dating!”
Emu proudly says as she holds her and Tsukasa’s hand up high together in the air.
Rui and Nene began to clap and acted surprised from the news.
“Congratulations! I knew you guys were gonna end up together!”
Nene said adding a bit of joy in her voice.
“Same with me.”
Rui crosses his arms as he looks at Tsukasa and Emu happily.
“Yeah thanks to you two-“
Tsukasa spoke but when his eyes land onto something in Nene and Rui’s hair he knew he was not imagining it.
A small black hair strand that was shining in Rui’s hair and a brown hair strand sticking out of Nene’s.
Tsukasa’s eyes widened in shock and he began to yell in realization.
“Wait were you guys-!”
