Work Text:
Stupid kids have a tendency to do stupid things.
It’s the weekend, and Katsuki’s stupid classmates decided to smuggle in stupid alcohol.
He pretends not to be watching over Denki. Pretends not to be biting back fear and anger as his friend takes part in every shot, guzzles several cans of sour beer, chugs when the others egg him on. They’re all so stupid.
Katsuki watches over Denki, drifting from the common room to the kitchen to the front porch where most people won’t see if they don’t look. He doesn’t lash out when Denki yells at him, even though his blood is boiling and his heart is racing and his stomach is turning.
Leave me alone.
Stop hovering over me like I need protection.
I don’t need it. I don’t need you.
I’m fine.
And then the colour drains from Denki’s face, a shivering hand reaching for his stomach. He bends over the railing to throw up.
He’s sick all night.
He throws up in the dirt, then in a trash can in the kitchen. Katsuki guides him to the bathroom, and he throws up more in the toilet.
The smell is enough to make Katsuki nauseous himself, but he ignores it. He washes the vomit from Denki’s hair.
Denki cries. I’msorryI’msostupid.
Katsuki feels like breaking something. He is angry at Denki, and worried for him, but angrier at a faceless man he’ll never be able to find.
He puts Denki to bed with an emptied out bucket and a bottle of water on the nightstand. He sits at his desk and watches him all night.
Stupid.
