Shotguns Are Tradition

Summary:

In which Conner and Tim do something stupid and Overprotective Farmer Clark is unleashed.

Notes:

So I was reminded by this one country song about a guy who dated this country girl and her father tried to shoot him with a shotgun for bring her home past curfew. Also a couple of fics that make Lex make a joke about Jonathan shooting him with a shotgun because he was dating Clark. That is the context you need to know for how much the idea came to be.

Takes place two years after Clark meets Conner. There’s a whole backstory on that but haven’t written it yet.

Kara isn’t here at the moment and Lex has some vague knowledge about Clark’s life in Smallville. It’s very vague and there hasn’t been any real confirmation on Clark’s part.

Tim and Kon are like 17(?) ish here.

It’s late and so I probably missed a few things so comment if you want to know more. Because if I’m left to my own devices then I’m probably not going to muster the energy to do so.(for the people who have read my fics and have commented on them and are waiting for a response, I’m working on it I promise. I see them but it been difficult.)

Not edited. So if something doesn’t make sense or isn’t clear, it’s because I’m tired and just want to get this done. If you see anything strange here, comment down below.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

”You’re a dead man, Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne!”, Clark yelled as he violently kicked the door of the meeting room down and cocked his shotgun. “A dead man, you hear me!?”

All of the Young Justice members turned their chairs and faced the angry shotgun wielding Kryptonian. Tim raced out of his chair to start running. While the words shouted at him and the threat of the shotgun would have sent the Robin running away from the angry father anyways, it was the look on Clark’s face that terrified him.

It was the look of a man willing to go through hell and back and do the most dangerous things to get his lick back. It was the look of someone ready to go do 25 years in jail for some payback.

Tim got out of the room with speed that would make even the Flash question if the Robin was a speedster in disguise. He ducked and dashed his way around Mount. Justice as best he could, but he was still unable to escape the irate Kryptonian that was still hot on his heels.

“Move out the way!”, the Robin yelled out to the some of the other heroes as he parkoured through the hallways. Tim threw things as a way to slow him down but it didn’t work. Despite the fact Clark had temporarily lost his powers due to the Blue Kryptonite that was forced feed to him, he was still faster than the average person and kept up with relative ease.

Everyone ducked out of the way when they saw Superman run through the hallways of Mount. Justice with fury and a shotgun in hand. Everyone he passed could feel that he was on a warpath.

Tim ran everywhere but he soon ended up at a dead end. Clark had finally managed to corner the Robin and was ready to shoot. But just as he raised his gun, Superboy tackled him from behind.

“Dad, please don’t shoot him.”, Conner begged. His eyes slowly teared up. “I love him.”

“Conner,”, Clark paused before attempting to wiggle out from under but Conner didn’t budge. “Get off of me.“

“No.”, the smaller Kryptonian refused. He held on tighter to his dad. “Not until you promise me that you won’t shoot Tim.”

Clark gave him an ‘are you kidding’ look before continuing to struggle against the heavy body that was on top of him. The more he tried to break free, the harder it became and the less strength he had. After a minute or two, the sounds of frustration grew louder until the sound of a familiar voice stopped him.

”Whoa, calm down farmboy. What’s going on?”

Clark gave out from fighting and just relaxed. Conner spoke up.

“Oh Hi Dad, I thought today was your day off?”

“It is but I got a message from Tim that it was an emergency.”

“It is but I got it handled.”

“Yes, I can see that. But Conner, can you please get off your father?”

“But Dad,”, Conner whined. “Once I do that, Pops is going to try and hurt Tim.”

“That is a very true statement.”, Clark replied unwarranted. He looked up at Lex from the floor.

The hero sighed. “Not helping.”, he muttered under his breath before returning to normal volume. “Don’t worry about that, Son. I’ll keep watch of him and make sure that he doesn’t try anything.”

Conner glanced down at down at his other father and looked back up. “Okay.”, he said as he got up from Clark’s body. He walked away towards his boyfriend.

Clark eyed Lex from his spot. “‘Farmboy’?”, he questioned. “Now what in the world would make you assume something like that?”

Lex took a moment to look up and down on the older Kryptonian’s clothes. Kal wasn’t wearing his flannel shirt or blue jeans anymore and so he couldn’t reasonably say that’s were it came from. God he hated keeping secrets or getting kept from them. Stupid Lionel.

He shrugged. “Lucky guess maybe?”

“Hmm hmm. Right.”, the Kryptonian slowly said and shot him a look of disbelief. It was obvious he didn’t buy it but didn’t say anything. Lex offered up an hand and Clark took it using it as a way to stand back up on his feet.

“Well anyways, mind telling me why you’re here, running around with a shotgun, threatening Conner’s teammates, specifically his boyfriend?”

Behind Lex, Conner was talking in hush tones to Tim and Dick walked towards them to check up on his brother. When he got there, Conner began to explain then gestured towards his belly and Clark saw red.

”I swear to god I’m going to shoot his ass if the boy don’t start running like a chicken about to get his head chopped off.”, He load up and shot some warning shots “Boy, you better start running like it’s the second coming of Christ again and pray to the good Lord that I lose a fucking limb or that God Almighty strikes me down because you will end up in an unmarked grave on the farm where no one will find your dead body, you hear me?!”

Dick turned towards Tim. “He’s defaulting to a thicker country accent. You’re need to run, Tim.” Clark fired as Tim and Conner ran far away from him.

“Jesus, what did he do?”, Lex asked in wondering of Clark’s

”That little piece of shit got our beloved boy pregnant. Our son.”

”How’s that even possible?”

“Well I don’t fucking know. But I took Conner to the fortress for his check up and the Fortress AI basically said he’s carrying twins.”

Lex blinked twice. “Okay.”

”I’m sorry, What?”

“I said, ‘Okay.’”

“Okay? Okay?! How are you so calm about this?”, Clark said as he shook Lex’s shoulders. “We’re going to be grandparents soon.”

“Grandparents.”, he put more emphasis on.

Lex had to hold back the urge to roll his eyes at Kal’s dramatics. The reason he was calm was because he was in shock at the possibility that his biological male son was pregnant. Scratch that, it was as actually happening and no longer just a small possibility.

It was something stunning and required a bit to process. How did it happen? How was it possible? It probably had to do with the alien side of his genes. Lex didn’t have anything against that but it honestly wasn’t something he expected.

And neither was Kal because if that were the case he would have had the ‘Talk’ much earlier with their son and explain why using protection was a big thing. And now that their son was bearing children, of course Kal wouldn’t know how to react to that and chose the first most insane option that popped up in his mind. It was now up to Lex to do damage control.

“I’m calm because it seems like out of the two of us, I have to be.” Lex put his hands over Clark’s. “Look, I understand that this is something scary and possibly something we are not prepared for. But this isn’t something that you have to deal with on your own.

The Kryptonian took a deep breath and looked much calmer for it. Lex continued. ”I’m going to be here with you every step of the way. We need to stick together to help our son take care of his kids.” He then added, “Also killing the father of our unborn grandchildren is hardly the best idea.”

Confusion spread across Clark’s face. “I’m not going to kill him, Lex.”, he said. “Tim has been one of Conner’s best romantic partners in a long time. He’s an intelligent kid, compassionate, effective leader, very respectful, and cares deeply about Kon. I honestly don’t see or think there will be someone else who would exceed my expectations like that.” “Plus, I highly respect Brucie’s children.”, the Kryptonian added.

It was now Lex’s turn to be confused. “So then why are you trying to shoot him?”

“He got my son pregnant at a young age. That’s unforgivable, Lex. So i’m just going to put a bullet in his ass to remind him of the consequences of his actions.”

“But-“

”Don’t worry, he’s a Robin. I’m sure he’s going to end up alright. They’ve gotten hurt in way worse ways than a bullet up the ass.” Then Clark grinned and cocked the shotgun twice. “And plus it’s just tradition.”

Notes:

Life Update: I got a job.

Notes: Also if I ever write a sequel to this then the title needs to be ‘A Shotgun Wedding’. It would fit in so well with this.
The reason being is that the phrase is a primarily American colloquialism, termed as such based on a stereotypical scenario in which the father of the pregnant bride-to-be threatens the reluctant groom with a shotgun in order to ensure that he follows through with the wedding.(got that off Google)
