The Competition

Summary:

Luo Binghe is one of the best basketball players on his team. He is known well for his amazing techniques. But, during a game against their rivals, Cang Qiong Mountain High School, Luo Binghe spots someone in the opposing crowd and can't stop his heart from beating. Who is that person he's obsessed with?

Notes:

I know nothing about basketball... do not quote me on any of this!

Luo Binghe is literally just trying to impress this mysterious man in the crowd he just made eye contact with.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Luo Binghe stood there in shock. He watched the young man on the opposing crowd, the one cheering for his life. He was dressed in the green and white colours of the Cang Qiong Mountain High School, clearly supporting Binghe's rival team yet he seemed more attracted to the man than anything else during the game... that he was participating in!

He forgot about that...

An orange and black round thing comes flying towards his face in a flash.

Just as he was pushed out of his zone by a basketball coming into his peripheral vision, he thankfully caught the ball before his opponent on the Cang Qiong Mountain High School Team. He felt a sudden burst of energy and decided that he was going to use this time on the ball to, in effect, show off to the young man that he had been staring at not too long ago.

He glanced to the side as he started moving forward, taking long strides as he dribbled the ball across the court. He reached the end of the court and shot the ball towards the hoop, running two strides before he jumped as high as possible. The world seemed to stop for the few moments that he was in the air for.

But it was in, he'd scored a basket.

He turned his head to the young man again and was trying to compose himself as he saw the man staring at him, lips parted in a mystified expression. His heart raced at the fact that he had captured the other's full attention. Yet he tried his hardest to look natural, the 'casual' wink that he sent the man was accompanied by a faint blush on both his cheeks and the tips of his ears. The blush that was shown did make his face redder but it could easily be played off as exhaustion; he was in a basketball match after all and also personally benefitted from the sport.

It had landed him multiple opportunities and his rising star attitude had officially ( after many failed attempts) landed him a spot next to his personal rival and senior, Liu Qingge.

The man had mirrored his blush after Luo Binghe sent him the wink. His eyes had clearly opened further but this time he blinked once. Twice. Three times, before his lips, which were formerly parted, closed and transformed into a small smile. If Lou Binghe wasn't staring at the man with the same desire, he wouldn't have noticed the smile at all. But with that smile, Luo Binghe was mesmerised and he went back into the game with newfound confidence.

He ran towards the ball, it was in the hands of his own team. And he shouted loud enough for the other to hear him once he was in position, "PASS!" It came hurtling towards him, the players from the other team were unluckily all huddled around on the other side of the course as they thought that the player was going to try to dribble before he passed the balled to Binghe. This made it easier for him to, yet again, score another basket.

Once finished, his eyes strayed to the man yet again. He showed him a flirty smirk in hopes of getting another cute reaction from the other. However, before he had hopes of seeing it take place, his team circled around him, and completely destructed his view of the one he longed to see.

The game was close to ending. And within the time that they had after Luo Binghe's second basket, he was able to score three more. Totalling to five baskets, all scored by Binghe. THAT was sure to get the man's attention now. In fact, it really had. Every time Binghe scored a basket, his eyes moved to the man and he did some sort of flirty action and waited to see the other's nonverbal response.

On his third basket, he stuck the tip of his tongue under his teeth, lips upturned into another smirk as he used his jaw to press down on the tensed muscle in his mouth. On the fourth, he gave the other a short but noticeable salute with his index and middle finger. And, finally, on the fifth and final basket he scored, he looked towards the man and just smiled, no teeth glinting, just cheeks crinkling his eyes ever so slightly due to his lips.

This could be played off as casual rivalry banter between the two to others, but they were the only one's who knew of the true interests behind those flirting attempts.

It could have almost been clear if people actually paid attention to the two. The man was subtle but quite obvious during his responses. On Binghe's third basket, he retaliated with a badly hidden smile accompanied by two rolling eyes. On his fourth, he received a small blow kiss and a wink which wasn't as noticeable as his own salute, meaning no one saw it. Of course the man would taunt him while everyone else was in the dark. On his fifth, however, he saw the other look down and chew on his bottom lip slightly before he looked up again, making Luo Binghe lose his mind before he composed himself again. Hopefully he didn't notice that he freaked out less than a second ago.

But back to showing off. There was only a minute on the clock, slowly ticking away, and Binghe had the ball but was unfortunately blocked by an opponent from Cang Qiong. He watched as his friend and teammate, Mobei-Jun, ran past the man and called for the ball. Luo Binghe passed it to him without hesitation until the former opponents ran towards his friend and he could move further up the court.

Unfortunately for Mobei-Jun, basketball is known as a non-contact sport, so his muscly figure didn't usually come in handy but it was fun to see the way his opponents hesitate to advance in fear of getting crushed. But the Cang Qiong Mountain High School's team were getting desperate. So they all crowded around the other mercilessly and forgot about Mobei-Jun's massive height difference to them. Luo Binghe didn't even need to call for the ball since Mobei-Jun could practically just hand it to anyone he wanted. So he wasn't surprised when Mobei-Jun shouted, "GO LONG!" He broke into a sprint before the ball landed in his hands and he started dribbling to the speed of his legs.

There was 20 seconds left on the clock.

He ran faster, thanking the Lord that he hand good hand-eye coordination at that moment because, otherwise, he would trip and fall.

15 seconds.

He had reached the other end of the court before anyone else and took his shot.

10 seconds.

It rolled in the hoop. Once

9 seconds.

Twice.

8 seconds.

Three times.

7 seconds.

Four times.

6 seconds.

Five times.

5 seconds...

And it rolled for the last time at the 4 second mark, entering the hoop on the third and scoring a basket on the second.

One second passed before the finishing ball was rung.

Everyone cheered for him. His teammates were all congratulating him. Even Mobei-Jun picked him up. But, whilst he was being carried by everyone, his mind and gaze shifted towards the other man. He broke out the toothiest grin that he could muster, smugness radiating from his body before the reaction from the man stopped his brain from functioning properly.

The man had looked at his face and bit his lip before that gaze went up and down his body and his tongue came out of those plump pillows, hoping to soothe the bite mark. It seemed way more arousing than it should have been and Luo Binghe had to try his hardest to will his hardening erection down that very second. But one thing was for certain in his mind as his teammates put him back down on the floor, they were definitely going to meet again...
