Cody had been taught how to focus on Kamino. He was not easily distracted, more so than many of his brothers, and he used that to his advantage. General Kenobi had, in the interest of teaching the vode more precise Force skills, had introduced them to a Jedi game known as Suna’um.
Suna’um, a word in the Jedi language of Dai Bendu which translated to balance, was a game that had its goal in the name. It could be played alone or with a group, with the Force or with one’s hands, and the whole point was to build a tower out of as many of the little wooden pieces as possible.
The vode, upon being introduced to the game, immediately started to develop their own larger scale variation of the game they called Beskar’gam Suna’um, which used their armour instead of wooden pieces to build the towers.
They often, with the encouragement of General Kenobi, engaged in the game during downtime, used the training rooms as the site of their contests.
On this particular occasion Cody watched in horror as his carefully constructed tower went toppling over, destroyed by the slowly spinning Wooley, who was being levitated by Crys and Longshot instead of the armour piece he was holding in his hands.
“Sorry sir.” Wooley shouted down. Cody ignored him in favour of trying to catch his armour before it clattered to the ground. He was mostly successful, though his tower was entirely unsalvageable.
Cody watched as Wooley spun his way to the top of the tower, Crys and Longshot arguing over who precisely was doing the spinning the whole way up.
“This reminds me of being an initiate.” Kenobi said, having appeared at Cody’s shoulder shortly after the destruction of his tower.
“Ill advised levitation?” Cody asked dryly, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh yes.” Kenobi said. “But it was mostly to sneak into places we weren’t allowed.”
“We mostly climbed things.” Cody said. Sneaking into forbidden places on Kamino was almost certainly more dangerous than at the Jedi Temple, but it amused him to know that he and Kenobi had engaged in some similar pastimes as cadets. He didn’t think Kenobi had had to learn to fight a war though.
“There was plenty of that as well.” Kenobi said. His eyes were twinkling with amusement.
They watched as Wooley, still wobbling but no longer spinning, reached out and tried to balance the pauldron on the top of their tower.
It balanced there for only a second before the whole tower collapsed with a great deal of commotion and shouting. Wooley fell back down with a lot more control than would be possible for the still largely untrained clone troopers. Cody side-eyed Kenobi.
“You could just let them discover the consequences of their actions for themselves. The floor in here is padded.” Cody said and Kenobi laughed.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about my dear.” He said, and set Wooley down safely on the ground.
