Chapter Text
‘Three-oh stared at the image ‘Two-fives had taken. There weren’t any mirrors in the barracks aboard the Negotiator, at least not ones that ‘Three-oh knew about, and ‘Three-oh had wanted to see the extent of the damage.
It looked almost as though he had been cut apart and stitched back together, the scars criss-crossing his chest.
“How’re you feeling?” ‘Two-fives asked, slinging an arm across ‘Three-oh’s shoulders and pulling him close. The skin-to-skin contact was a balm after almost two weeks on the medbay, most of which he spent slipping in and out of consciousness in the bacta tank.
They were alone in the communal showers, and even if they hadn’t been, ‘Three-oh would have leaned into ‘Two-fives’ touch just as much. The vode all knew what they were to each other, and if they didn’t, ‘Three-oh didn’t care if they found out.
“I don’t know.” ‘Three-oh said. “I’m grateful to be alive.” ‘A Force-given miracle’ was what Helix called his recovery when “Three-oh was conscious enough to actually retain what he was being told. If it wasn’t for the General, he wouldn’t be alive, and people kept repeating that word, miracle, miracle, miracle. ‘Three-oh wasn’t sure what a miracle was, but apparently he was it.
“I am too.” ‘Two-fives said, pressing a kiss to ‘Three-oh’s temple. ‘Three-oh shivered at the touch. “You’re not allowed to march on without me.”
“Acknowledged.” ‘Three-oh said.
“Did you know you’re the first clone to ever use a bacta tank?” ‘Two-fives asked and ‘Three-oh nodded.
“So I’ve heard.” ‘Three-oh said. “Apparently I’m a miracle.”
“I don’t know what that means.”
“Me neither.” ‘Three-oh admitted. ‘Two-fives took his datapad back out of ‘Three-oh’s hands.
“It means something inexplicable by normal causes that has to be explained by like, supernatural causes. Or it can mean something causing wonderment or awe.” ‘Two-fives said after a moment, nuzzling his nose into ‘Three-oh’s hair. “That’s you alright. Something causing wonderment.” ‘Three-oh laughed.
“I don’t know about that.” ‘Three-oh said. “But I like the way the word sounds.”
“We can keep calling you Miracle if you want.” ‘Two-fives said. ‘Three-oh turned it over in his mind.
“I’ll think about it.” He said. He wasn’t sure he wanted to pick a name before ‘Two-fives had one for himself.
“Good plan.” ‘Two-fives said. ‘Three-oh turned and pulled ‘Two-fives into a hug as the confused wave of emotions that he had been holding off since he woke up and discovered he was still alive overwhelmed him and he started to cry.
