    Summary

Everyone says that there’s something profoundly unsexy about dying, but I think that either I’m a total freak, or they’re stupid. You can decide where you stand on that. Because here’s the issue: I want to fuck you about as much as I did when you first called me a workaholic asshole, and even though you didn’t mean it, challenged me to prove you wrong. Now, most of the things you call me are inside jokes and you roll your eyes with affection the exact same So-You way that it pisses me off, because I don’t find any of that profoundly unsexy at all.

And yet, you’re self-conscious when you throw your arm around my shoulders too fast, or when you tell you that you like my red floral dress with the weird beading. And I look down at our legs, and I smoosh mine together, and I try not to think about how my calves have always been more defined than yours and my thighs fatter, but I’d never have described your legs as willowy or knobbly before.

This is a story about my husband dying of cancer and my co-worker’s weird obsession with talking about his silicone fuck-doll more than it is about a lighthouse in Dublin. But it's still about that. Just like it's not about being a wife or a mother, but being Camila.
