Chapter Text
Prologue
Life is hard...
in South Park.
Everyone struggles with something. When everyone goes to school, when everyone goes to work, when everyone goes out there is always a struggle. "Pick a struggle" they say. But if you ask the kids, its their parents that get to choose their struggle. The parents pick a burden which lays heavily on their kids shoulders. The actions of parents leave kids in a constant state of struggle, in one way or another at least.
Some are poor, with addicted parents. They are left to fight for themselves and care for their sibling, living paycheck to paycheck. Every injury they sustain never has proof as they are reborn. Some have neglectful parents, their parents don't care and are sending them into dangerous situations. Their parents lace their belongings with something that will cause permanent damage. Some are subject to abusive and manipulative parents. Struck with constant blows of a fist or an object, or struck with blows of guilt, hurt and manipulation.
What you experience at home is a touchy subject, for all experiences are different and everyone reacts differently. They say what happens to you at home doesn't reflect you as a person but that's not true. What happens at home molds you as a person, you take what happens with you everywhere. It affects the way you learn, how you make friends, how you dress, how life happens.
But school isn't the only place stress and struggle sprout from. What about what happens at school? The stress and pressure to be good at everything, needing academic validation to feel lovable and worthy. The constant feeling of being judged by everyone else. Needing to dress your best to please everyone else. Never being good enough no matter how hard you try. The rude remarks, the stares, the clamminess, the loudness.
It all makes me feel sick to my stomach. It makes me tear out my insides and turn my insides out.
