Chapter Text
So far, the first session of Double Life was going pretty well. The players were scattered around collecting resources, talking amongst one another, and finding their soulbound.
Jimmy spent most his time with Joel. He gathered a plentiful amount of resources and was currently exploring some mountains. The map wasn't exactly huge, but there seemed to be a few different biomes.
The jungle was small but full of life. It was lush and displayed vivid colours of greens, browns, oranges, and a tiny bit of yellow. The mountains were a huge contrast. Sure they weren't exactly large, but they were covered in a thick layer of snow. There was not a single plant to be seen there. And the plains were, well the plains. Nothing too special. It settled on top of two plateaus with a river down far below, splitting them apart.
Jimmy had pretty much seen it all. It was always fun to explore the worlds of servers that have just yet begun. These games, though gruesome in concept, are always fun and have such beautiful worlds. He still hadn't found his soulbound yet, and he didn't yet figure out a place to set up base. He was more fascinated by the goats anyways.
Suddenly, he started taking damage. His soulbound was taking damage. And a lot of it. Then just as quick as the feeling had arrived, it went away with a blast. His soulbound, that he now knew was Tango, died so naturally Jimmy did too.
Jimmy opened his eyes back at spawn, and he looked around to find Tango. He wanted to know what happened. Jimmy has never really talked to Tango. He knows virtually nothing about him.
"Tango what happened?" Jimmy's was a little louder than usual, Tango was up in a tree. For some reason.
Tango looked around for Jimmy, not realizing he was on the ground. "Down here-" Oh. He was on the ground. Jimmy couldn't stifle his chuckle. Tango looked down and as he climbed down he spoke about what happened. He apologized multiple times but Jimmy shut that down quick.
They split up to go and retrieve their resources from before. Unfortunately neither could retrieve them. There goes the good start.
With the remaining daylight they had left, they went to get some resources to at least build a shelter. They already lost their green life, they don't need to be on red already.
Tango was the one who built them their little home. As much as Tango claimed he was no builder, Jimmy refused to believe it. "The house looks great! You did a good job!" Jimmy praised, earning a grumble from Tango in response. Tango didn't believe it was good. If Jimmy liked it then there was no point to argue, he decided.
The next day the pair continued to gather resources, in hopes of catching up with everyone else. Tango manged to find a decent but of iron for the two while Jimmy got a few things from the others. He also managed to find cows and bring them back. For all the jokes about Jimmy being not the best at really any of this stuff, he was providing a lot. At least that's what Tango believes. He had already been in awe over Jimmy having retrieved a bucket and some other resources. Then he went and got then a whole family of cows.
Jimmy didn't seem to be able to see how good he was doing. It's not like he was doubting or depreciating himself, he just would never acknowledge his accomplishments or would say "It's nothing really." But that's similar to what Yango was doing earlier that day, in a way.
It had been such a long and tiring day for the ranchers. They had done so much that day yet they still felt behind. Tango was in the ranch smelting some iron and cooking a but of food. Jimmy was outside for some reason beyond Tango. It was so cold outside. Not sure if it's from the server itself or because the ranch is perched so close to the peak of a mountain. Tango always hated the cold. Jimmy didn't seem bothered by it granted he's been outside for a while.
When the food and iron were done, he quickly stored them and searched for Jimmy. He still wasn't inside yet, which concerned Tango a little bit if he's being honest. Yeah Jimmy may be fine with the cold, but it's still not good to be out in the cold for so long. He left the ranch and found Jimmy laying in grass. He was staring up at the night sky with biggest grin. Is that what he's been up to this whole time?
Tango approached where Jimmy was laying and sat down beside him. Jimmy glanced over for a brief moment and looked back up at the sky. They were just relaxing outside totally quiet, until Tango broke the silence. "So is this what you've been doing this while time?" Tango let out a slight chuckle.
"Yeah, I like looking at the stars." That reply made Tango smile. "You like to stargaze?" Tango has never really been huge in stargazing, but he likes the idea of it. Stargazing is a cute little activity. "Yeah they're beautiful. I love finding the constellations during each season. It's like a scavenger hunt," Jimmy broken his gaze at the sky to look at Tango while speaking. Tango can't help but smile and laugh. He never thought someone would compare stargazing to a scavenger hunt.
"That's fun idea, it makes stargazing a game," Tango had layed down beside Jimmy now. He found he wasn't minding the cold as much as he usually did. Maybe the soulbound did that? Tango didn't really care.
"It makesstargazing more fun for me, and the constellations are pretty and have stories behind them." Tango could just hear how happy Jimmy was. Just over the stars. How sweet is that?
"So you know the stories behind the constellations?" Tango knew close to nothing about the constellations, nonetheless stars in general. He was more knowledgeable with redstone.
Jimmy confirmed and proceeded to point at one of the constellations in the sky and ramble the story behind it. Tango rolled to his side to look at Jimmy while he was talking. He kind of liked listening to Jimmy ramble. They hadn't really talked a lot that day so it was nice way for them to talk and get to know one another.
They stayed like this for maybe ten minutes, maybe more. Jimmy was just pointing out the different constellations in sky and rambling about them. Eventually they returned inside to eat and go to bed. For such a rough start, the day ended pretty well. Tango could see himself getting used to this.
