Pairing
: Lucius Malfoy/James Potter
Prompt
: (Dialogue) “I regret nothing.”
Gently closing the door behind him, James Potter leaned against it as he exhaled. He took a few breaths, trying to collect himself. Last night really happened. It wasn’t a drunk dream.
Raising a shaking hand, he carted it through his hair. He absentmindedly tugged on the strands.
Merlin.
How was he going to explain this?
James forced himself to take a deep breath as he tried to process everything. Pushing off the door, James stumbled to the sink. He turned the water and he splashed some on his face.
He braced his arm on the counter as he stared into the mirror.
His eyes quickly found the silver ring on his left ring finger. He stared at the reflection for a few seconds before his gaze dropped to the ring on his hand.
“James, love, you alright?” called the voice of his husband .
Shaking his head, James closed his eyes for a second. “Yeah, I’ll be out in a minute,” he answered.
With a final glance in the mirror, James turned and left the bathroom.
Back in the bedroom, he found his new husband in a silk dressing gown with a concerned look in his gray eyes. The man reached out, pulling James close.
Lucius Malfoy raised his right hand to cup James’ cheek. “Let’s return to bed,” he stated with a frown. “You need more sleep.”
Wordlessly James nodded, allowing his husband to lead him to the large bed and usher him under the covers before climbing in next to him.
James allowed the other man to wrap his arms around him before Lucius pulled James to his chest.
“You’re thinking too hard,” he muttered in James' ear. “Having second thoughts?”
James heard the uncertainty in his husband’s voice.
“No,” James answered, moving his head to his husband’s chest. “I regret nothing.”
Lucius' arms tightened in response as the man whispered, “Sleep, love.”
