Summary
The sky is screaming again. It’s funny. You’d think I would have gotten used to it after a while. Like how you can eventually tune out the frantic yapping of the dog down the street in the morning, or the infuriatingly incessant screeching of the rooster. You’d think that after hearing it a few dozen times, it’d get easier to listen to. But no. It’s hard to describe. It’s like thunder, but it’s a voice. Thousands of voices, really. All screaming at once. They sound like they’re in pain. It’s as if every single bed in the world’s largest infirmary was occupied by two people at once. Every last one of them is howling at the top of their lungs as the surgeons walk slowly down the lines to dispassionately carve through their flesh with ancient, rusted scalpels. That’s how loud it is. But that isn’t the tone it conveys. It’s a scream of pain, yes. But it’s not pleading for mercy, either. No. These voices? Wherever they are up there, hiding in the dark space where the sun used to be, they are proclaiming their hate. Well good for them. I hate them, too.
