Isaac's worst fear after he and James didn't work out in the way the latter had hoped was that he'd lose James as a friend, and he really didn't want that. Not only did he just find James really fun and easy to talk to (when he wasn't focused on the other side of their dynamic), but also James was the first person who'd actually engage in meaningful conversation about books with him.
Hell, the boy worked at a bookstore.
After Isaac figured out that there actually wasn't anything wrong with him and that there was a name for what he was, he excitedly sent James a text explaining that he was aroace.
However, a small, nagging voice in the back of Isaac's head began to worry after he sent the message. You already did explain your feelings to him and he just told you that you need to find the right person, it hissed. He won't understand. No one will ever understand.
Before he could overthink it to the point where he deleted the message, though, James responded, leading with an apology for what he'd said before followed by an admission that he didn't know much about that side of the LGBT+ community but that he promised to do more research on the matter. Even more exciting, though, was that James still wanted to be friends, and even began to infodump a little bit about a book he'd just started.
Isaac sent a few blue hearts, picked up his bag, and began his way to the bookstore to give James a big hug and maybe even let the boy talk in person a bit about what he'd been reading.
