Summary
Hawkins has never, truly, been a “sleepy town”. It’s just been masquerading as one for so long, it doesn’t know what else to call itself.
With the end of 1984 coming ‘round the corner, what better way to celebrate early then with a Halloween party? Underage drinking, hookups in the bathrooms that need to be used for literally anything else, chugging beer until people pass out in the bushes out front — it’s nothing that Steve actually enjoys.
There’s something wrong with him, something that doesn’t click like how it does for everyone else. For Steve, it’s a little like acting a role for as long as he could — smile when they say smile, kiss when they say kiss. But— it doesn’t matter. He has his group of friends, quiet as they are, and he has his girlfriend that he thinks might be falling out of love with him (who he might be falling out of love with, too). He just has to make it through this year without any hiccups.
I mean, how much damage can one party truly cause?
