Work Text:
Tony looked up as Ziva entered the bullpen, she wasn’t smiling exactly but she seemed content, he needed to know why.
“Well someone’s happy this morning.”
The agent fought the urge to roll her eyes as she sat down at her desk, “as a matter of fact, I am Tony, thank you very much.”
This is enough for DiNozzo to jump out of his chair and casually lean in front of his desk, looking his partner up and down.
“Something happened, something’s different, what is it ? What did you do ?”
“Nothing you need to concern yourself with Tony.” And she means it, it is inconsequential but she smiles anyway because she knows it will make him wonder and she enjoys annoying him, not that she would ever admit it.
Tony gasped in mock offense, “you’re not gonna tell me ? Me, your own partner ? After everything we’ve been through together…”
Tim normally lets them bicker and annoy each other, at least they’re not ganging up on him when they do that, but it’s early and he’s overworked and sleep deprived and paperwork is going to be the end of him. So he breaks his own rule and gets in between Tony and Ziva, metaphorically, he’s not getting up unless he absolutely has to.
“She got a haircut, Tony. It looks nice, Ziva.”
“Why thank you for noticing McGee, unlike some.” She sends a death glare towards Tony who is now observing her.
“It does look nice, but that’s it ?”
“Disappointed Tony ?”
DiNozzo shrugged but yeah, he was disappointed. Ziva doesn’t appear to be the kind of girl who smiles like that just because she got a haircut, he was expecting - more like hoping - something juicy.
“Are you sure there’s nothing else ?”
Tim sighed and went back to his coffee, tuning them out, bold of him to assume it would be the end of it already.
“Yes Tony, I am sure. I am happy because the hair dresser did my hair wonderfully and gave me a very nice blow job.”
Tim and Tony who had both been sipping on their morning coffee choked into their cup, their eyes whipping to Ziva’s face, surely she hadn’t just said that, right ?
But Ziva had, and she had also underestimated how hard it would be to say this without cracking a smile. Nevertheless she remained perfectly neutral, the faces they were making were just too good, she couldn’t break her act now, oh how she wishes she could have taken a picture.
Both of them were staring at her, completely stunned and trying to catch their breath as Gibbs walked into the bullpen.
“Nice haircut Ziver, what’s wrong with these two ?” Gibbs pointed to DiNozzo and McGee who were currently staring at Ziva, red faced and recovering from choking on their coffees.
“I simply have no idea Gibbs, I told them I went to the hair salon, that is all I did.”
Gibbs narrows his eyes at her suspiciously, but he doesn’t ask, he knows better than to ask when Tony’s making that face, he’s come to regret it too many times.
“Blowout” DiNozzo wheezes, “a blowout, Ziva.”
“Is it not what I said ? Either way it does not matter, you understand what I mean.”
She shrugged and sat down, hiding a satisfied smile while both guys were still staring at her, Gibbs at his own desk was also hiding a small smile in his coffee cup, wondering how long it would take DiNozzo and McGee to realize Ziva was playing them.
