"Hey," Tighnari calls into Alhaitham's house as he opens the front door, "I was in the area and I thought I'd stop by."
"In the kitchen," Kaveh calls back.
It's nice when Tighnari or Cyno can visit outside of their scheduled visits, even on days when Kaveh is sick.
Tighnari wraps his arms around Kaveh's waist from behind and presses his face into Kaveh's back.
"Don't get too cuddly, I'm not feeling good."
"I can stay if you need me?"
"'Haitham said I should make some tea and lay back down. You just missed him by the way..."
"He told me I could let myself in."
Tighnari pushes his face further into Kaveh's back and takes a deep breath.
Then another.
"Are you smelling me?"
"Sorry, you smell...really good for being sick."
"I haven't even bathed yet-" Kaveh pulls away from Tighnari.
"Are you sure?" Tighnari follows him, still smelling him.
"I know there are a lot of quirks that come with your genes but I'm a little uncomfortable, baby-"
Tighnari stops smelling Kaveh, but doesn't let go, basically freezing in place.
"'Nari?"
"Kaveh, what are your symptoms?"
"I'm nauseous and exhausted even though I just got up..."
"Anything else?"
"Uhm...I'm a little stuffy?" Kaveh shrugs, "I'm not sure what you're getting at? I think it's just a little tummy bug."
"Can you do me a favor?" Tighnari hums.
"I guess?"
"Can you lay off the alcohol until you get into the doctor and find out what's going on?" Tighnari requests softly.
"It's not a hangover," Kaveh rolls his eyes, "I haven't drank since you and Cyno came over for dinner and cards last week."
"I know it's not a hangover, but...for me?"
Kaveh sighs, "Sure, for you."
Tighnari gets up on his tiptoes and kisses Kaveh's cheek, "Thank you."
Tighnari sends Kaveh to bed and finishes making his tea, slicing him fresh fruit to go with it.
He contemplates telling Kaveh exactly why he shouldn't drink but he'd rather Kaveh find out through the usual means instead of Tighnari smelling it on him...
At least fruit is good for the baby...
"'Haitham? Are you home?" Kaveh calls when he gets home.
"I'm right here," Alhaitham steps out of his room, "Is something wrong?"
"I just got back from the doctor, we need to talk."
Alhaitham trains his face, trying to read Kaveh's.
"You're not pregnant, are you?"
Kaveh's entire body goes stiff, "How did you know?"
Alhaitham's stomach drops, "Kaveh! I was kidding!"
"Well...I'm not!"
Alhaitham moves from his door to Kaveh, stopping a small distance away, "You're sure?"
"They sounded pretty sure..."
Alhaitham puts a hand on Kaveh's cheek, rubbing the side of his face softly, "We'll...talk to Cyno and Tighnari...and get everything sorted out..."
"You're...not freaking out? I'm freaking out. I think...I'm not really sure how I feel...and I don't know if this nausea is the same one from before or anxiety or-"
"Kaveh, calm down, we'll tell Tighnari and Cyno before we get worked up, okay?"
Kaveh nods, pushing himself into Alhaitham's chest to hug the taller man, "Okay."
"Is everything alright besides...that?" Alhaitham asks, half heartedly hugging his boyfriend back.
Kaveh nods, "Yeah, there wasn't anything else."
"Good."
The two men stay like that for a while, just holding each other.
Alhaitham brought both of the other men in the relationship the day after Kaveh's appointment and the architect's anxiety is through the roof, even though he knows, realistically, Cyno and Tighnari won't have any problems with the situation...he hopes...
"Alhaitham sounded urgent when he asked us to come, and you look like a wreck, is everything alright?" Cyno asks, taking the spot next to Kaveh on the couch.
"You do look very pale, have you been keeping hydrated? I know it's hard when you're sick but-"
"I've kept on top of him about hydration," Alhaitham cuts in, "but this is...somewhat related to Kaveh's illness."
Cyno looks more concerned than before, putting a hand on Kaveh's leg and giving it a small, gentle squeeze, "You're sick?"
Kaveh tenses away from the touch, looking at Alhaitham for help.
"Kaveh's pregnant."
Cyno looks shocked, taking his hand off of Kaveh's leg.
Kaveh glares at Alhaitham.
"I told you we needed to be gentle about the news!"
"Why? We're four adult men. Most of us are doing well enough financially and status wise. If you finally just move into my room like I've been telling you to for months we even have a spare room for it. A baby isn't that big of a deal."
Cyno grabs Kaveh's hand softly, "I'm not against the idea of having a baby, either."
"Tighnari, what about you?" Alhaitham asks the forest ranger, who's been suspiciously quiet.
"I already knew."
"What?!" "What?"
"Of course you did," Cyno rolls his eyes, laughing to himself about the others' shock.
"When I came over the other day, I uh..." Tighnari wraps his tail around himself, cheeks turning pink, "I could smell the hormone change..."
Kaveh also blushes, much deeper than the younger man, "Oh...that's...what the smelling me was about..."
"Sorry..."
"So," Cyno clears his throat, "Alhaitham, you mentioned that we're in a fine situation to raise the baby but one detail is troubling me."
"Which is?"
"Who's going to take care of the baby after they're born?"
"The four of us, were you not listening?"
Cyno gives Alhaitham a very unamused glare, "The four of us all have jobs, and none of us can exactly shirk our duties there for our domestic duties, like raising a child."
"I don't think it's impossible to make my schedule and Kaveh's work around a baby," Alhaitham shrugs, "We have almost a year to figure it out."
"So you're all sure...we're keeping it?" Kaveh speaks up, squeezing Cyno's hand nervously.
"I don't see why we wouldn't?" Alhaitham replies.
Tighnari's the only one who seems to realize why not...
"Kaveh...do you feel dysphoria from the idea of being pregnant and giving birth?"
"A little..."
Tighnari moves around Cyno to sit on the other side of Kaveh, "I didn't think about that..."
"Neither did I..." Cyno agrees.
Alhaitham is quiet, still standing a ways away from the couch.
Tighnari tugs Kaveh gently to lean on his shoulder, petting blond locks to the side gently, "It's your choice over all of ours, I'm sure Cyno and Alhaitham agree. I can't stand the idea of forcing you to do this."
"Of course."
Cyno gestures for Alhaitham to chime in, too.
"It's your choice, they're right."
"You don't sound sure..."
Alhaitham looks away, crossing his arms, "I mean it, it's your choice if you want to keep it or not. I won't stop you or hold it against you."
"But?"
Alhaitham says something quietly that Kaveh and Cyno don't catch.
"Really?" Tighnari hums, still playing with Kaveh's hair.
"Really what? I can't hear him," Kaveh questions.
"I said I liked the idea of being a father...but don't...don't suffer just because I said that, I'm just explaining my feelings...you guys keep pushing me to talk about them..."
Kaveh's face softens almost immediately, "You want the baby?"
"Don't force yourself to endure dysphoria or anything just because I said I want to be a father," Alhaitham huffs, "We can have a baby through other means..."
"I could always-"
"It goes for both of you, Tighnari, I don't want either of you going through dysphoria or depression just because of me..."
"I'm going to think on it," Kaveh speaks up, "not just because of you, 'Haitham, I think I want a baby, too..."
"We're not expecting an answer immediately," Cyno moves to give Kaveh a kiss.
Tighnari hums in agreement, then pauses, silently giving Cyno an unamused look.
