Barn Kittens

Summary:

Apparently, most of his brothers have never pet a cat before. Twilight needs to fix that immediately.

Work Text:

"Oh my Golden Goddesses," Sky breathes, practically throwing himself to the ground and scooping up one now-agitated ball of fur. "Aren't you just the cutest thing I have ever seen?"

Twilight laughs, and scoops another kitten off the ground with far more care, depositing it in Time's hand. The man instantly softens, pulling the tiny purring bundle close to his chest. He goes to hand the next one to Four but the Smithy takes a short but quick step back, eyes wide.

"...You good?"

"Yup!" Four flashes a terse smile. "Great. Fantastic! Just... don't want to get clawed."

The Ordonian blinks. "Four, it's a kitten. It's like two weeks old. It ain't gonna hurt you none."

Wild agrees at least. Twilight can see that much from the way the boy has flopped onto the ground and is trying to pet about seven kittens at the same time.

...Because of course he is.

"What are these animals called?" Legend asks, daring to creep closer to the mewling pile of fur swallowing Sky and Wild alive. "I've never seen them before."

That makes the Rancher pause. "You've never seen a cat before?"

Legend and Hyrule shakes their heads in a slow synchronized movement. Twilight blinks. Huh. Time shenanigans never cease to amaze him. He grabs both boys by an arm each and drags them into the center of the barn, right to the edge of the nest the mama cats have made in the pile of hay.

"Sit," he says, and pushes them down. "Now here, hold these."

A few seconds and some carefully scooping of absolutely precious babies later, Legend has gone soft, expression gentle as he carefully strokes over the backs of the mewling bundles of squirming kitten in his lap.

Wind squeezes himself between the pair and removes a cat from Legend's pile, dropping it on Hyrule's knee. The traveler goes bug eyed, looking up at Twilight with deeply visible concern. "Why is it vibrating?"

He manages not to laugh. Barely, but he manages. "That means it's working."

"Huh."

Notes:

Yeah this is literally just senseless fluff for a friend, hope you liked it! <3
