Summary
Two and a half years after the end of the Chain's journey, a portal swallows Link whole.
The situation is officially dire. They're running out of water, the Captain is anywhere from lightly sick to critically ill, and Time doesn't trust him as far as he can throw him. Considering the Old Man's barely old enough to swim in stillwater without supervision and his arms are roughly as thick as a spyglass, Tune has moments to sort through the half-remembered advice he picked up from his landlubberly crew to get them all out of this alive.
[or: Wind, now Tune, gets dropped in the middle of the ruins of a battlefield. A sobbing nine-year-old and a half-dead soldier are his only company, and the clothes on his back are his only supplies. It gets better before it gets worse.]

Technically speaking, arranging a Coven Tie is hardly the worst thing they could do to him.
That they happened to pick the most violent, explosive Coven the nation of Hyrule has ever seen was simply happenstance. What a shame the poor Prince couldn't survive to his age of majority, that he could never call the actions of the duplicitous Council into question.
Legend might be impressed, if he weren't so busy being terrified.

"Like you?" the Hero asks, just as careful and meticulously cruel as the failure of a spell Dark Link cannot wield.

Summary
Legend was not the kindest Link, he was sharp and he was not afraid to snap at anyone for any reason. This causes some problems between him and Twilight.
Legend honestly is just bad at talking to people, so when his inability to be nice when trying to tell someone to take some personal regard for their safety (at least from his perspective) is called out, he decides to fall back on some old, fairly unhealthy coping mechanisms: specifically, silence.
