Chapter Text
It was an all out brawl in Paris’s streets.
Hawkmoth seemed to have, at last, hit the correct person with the correct power, as Ladybug had called Rena, Carapace, Viperion, Bunnyx, and Ryuko into battle, showing just how on the ropes she was. He even appeared with his partner Mayura, eager to at last take his final victory.
But then, it all went wrong.
Just as Ladybug shattered the Akuma (placed in a gem the Akumatized victim wore) in half, the wizard he’d created raised their gnarled wooden staff, and called out for all who carried Miraculouses to be expelled from this world, and a portal opened up beneath all their feet.
All the world suddenly turned to black…

Water.
Chat could feel water lapping against his cheek, pressed against soft sand, and a little hand shaking his shoulder.
With a gasp, his head lifted, and there was a startled squeak in reply.
A little girl (with two braided pigtails and dressed in slightly rustic looking clothing) stumbled back, falling onto her butt with his sudden rise. She scurried, turning away on hands and knees, pushing herself up onto her feet and sprinting away. “W-wait! I’m sorry!! Don’t go!” He shouted, but she didn’t look back.
He took momentary stock of himself, looking down and finding his own clothes of a matching style with the girls- a black, elbow-length tunic with a triangle slit collar, with triangle border designs in grey and a hip pad coloured dark green, a cloak with a hood, the clip at his shoulder in the shape of his golden bell, and black pants made of a soft animal skin with black leather boots and fingerless leather gloves that had black metal armour/braces built in, with an archery leather chest guard, and various other leather wrappings and pouches around his hips and shoulders, on which his Black Cat Staff was mounted.
Around him was even stranger. To his left was a vast and seemingly unending sea, to his right was something like a wide overhang of earth with pillars of stone rising up. All along the ground were shallow pools of water, the one nearest to him was a crystal clear pool with its own little coral reef inside it where crabs and small fish were dwelling, and further up the beach where the girl had disappeared to, he could see smoke rising up.
He tried to stand, but a sudden spear of pain stabbed through the side of his chest and leg, pain he’d been distracted from because of the unbelievably strange circumstances, sent him back to the sand with a gasp and groan.
His ribs and right knee were severely bruised and his right shin was throbbing, or possibly even broken. He couldn’t chase after the girl.
At least he was able to drag himself further from the water to avoid the tide, leaning himself up against a rock as he held his aching side. He reached for his staff, and tried to call Ladybug on it…But no luck. Either it didn’t work where he was (due to the cavern blocking signal or the world he found himself in not allowing his type of miraculous magic) or perhaps she was just too far for it to reach.
Regardless, he extended his staff, using it to raise himself off the rock, and start to hobble towards the source of the smoke he’d seen while using his staff as a crutch.
He hadn’t gotten far when he heard a shout.
“Ooooi~!” A voice called, and his head lifted in hope.
Had other heroes landed where he had?!
But, no. It was a middle aged blonde man, dressed in a tunic and light leather armour much like Chat’s, riding a horse down the beach towards him, with the little girl sitting in the saddle in front of him.
Chat stumbled back as he neared, shocked as the horse ran past him, the girl staying on as the man himself leapt off while it was in motion, landing in front of Chat.
Chat cried out in pain as he landed, tears of agony springing to his eyes as his side throbbed.
The blonde man, in an unknown language, seemed to apologise, kneeling at Chat’s side.
“I-I’m sorry, I don’t understand,” Chat tried, but his brows only furrowed in further confusion. He looked over Chat, pushing back his hood, and blinking.
He grabbed Chat’s head gently, his fingers’ touching his human ears, and made a soft sound like he was shocked.
Then he tried motioning with his hands, using some sort of sign language, and Chat shook his head again.
The man looked to the side, and showed Chat his own ears, which were elongated and pointy like an elf.
Chat raised his hands to his ears, confused. So, he was in some kind of elf world?
He held a hand out to Chat, and when Chat took it, the blonde gently helped him back to his one good foot. He motioned to the leg he wasn’t putting weight on, and made a motion like he was breaking a stick.
Chat shook his head again, and pointed at his right kneecap.
He then made a motion with a face, wincing and holding his side. Chat nodded, putting a hand over where it hurt worse, again on his right.
He nodded, turned, and knelt, hands held behind him, inviting Chat to crawl on to be carried.
Chat hesitated for a second, but the idea of trying to possibly get on the horse or take ages walking were far worse options, so he did as he was bid, and slid himself onto the man’s back.
It was a bit awkward and uncomfortable, he leaned so there wasn’t so much pain or movement on his bruised side, but it really was far faster. The man whistled periodically and his horse trotted behind them as he walked, still carrying the girl who did not try to touch the reins.
Once he was not panicking and absolutely alone, Chat could really appreciate the beauty of where he’d ended up. It was beyond picturesque, a tapestry of natural wonder with seagulls soaring and cawing, the soft sound of waves and a peaceful, uninhabited beach, bathed in the colours of sunset…
And in the distance, a guy kneeling at a campfire in the shade of a giant rock, held aloft only by a small sliver of stone like the ocean had washed away its bottom layer, making an umbrella of stone.
[LOCATION NOTES: 0103 / - 3818 / 0004] - Umbrella Rock
The girl called out to the guy in glee upon their arrival, catching his attention from a cooking pot he was looming over. He raised a serving spoon as he waved at them, and Chat saw an uncanny reflection.
Adrien Agreste with a wooden spoon and wearing a green tunic, with pointed elf ears.
-
He was gently set down, and the older blonde accessed his injuries, sliding off his boot and rolling up his pant leg by firelight as Adrien cooked.
“Can you understand me?” Chat asked the reflection of his civilian-self.
But the guy just lifted his head from the cooking pot, sensing Chat was talking to him specifically, and smiled.
“I’ll take that as a no,” Chat said.
The man tapped on his skin, catching his attention. He motioned for ‘broken’ again, and motioned to his shin rather than his aching kneecap, then put a hand on his side.
Chat had some trouble getting to his side, with all the leather straps his hero costume had turned into, but with some help he was able to manage it. He peeled his tunic up, and even in the firelight with the gloom of the moonless night all around them, it looked bad.
There was a large, splotchy black and blue bruise from his nipple down to his navel, running all along his right side, unbearably warm. There were yellow lines through it, impressions of his ribs showing through the bruise.
The man felt along the roadmap left by the bruise, gently pressing as Chat tried not to squirm or yelp in pain to check for breaks.
Once he was done, he motioned for ‘broken’, and shook his head while crossing his arms in an X. A broken or fractured shin, a severely bruised knee, and some severely bruised ribs.
“Alright, not life threatening at least,” Sighed Chat appreciatively, lowering his tunic. He was hesitant to put all the straps back on, though…
The man made a hand motion again, a closed fist over his mouth, opening it as he moved it forward.
“Adrien.” The blonde said, and Chat froze, scared for a second he’d been found out as his eyes snapped to the other blonde. But he had a hand on his chest.
“Adrien,” he repeated, hand patting on his chest. He put a hand on the little girls’ head. “Aryll.”
Aryll then lifted her doll up to show him. “Hilly!”
Adrien chuckled, putting a hand on the doll’s head. “Hilly.” Then he motioned to the man. “Link.” Then, he motioned to Chat, and tilted his head in question.
Chat put a hand to his chest. “Chat Noir.”
“Chat Noir!” Aryll greeted with a grin, holding onto the porcelain faced doll, dressed in something similar to herself with auburn-brown hair and bright green eyes.
“Chat Noir,” Link said, putting a gentle hand on his head. He turned to Adrien, and made more motions with his hands, speaking sign to him. Adrien ladelled out a portion of soup (a creamy, veggie and chicken sort of soup) from the cooking pot, and handed it to Link.
Link then lifted Chat’s hands, putting it around the curve of the warmed bowl, sitting back as Adrien gave him another. He blew on it, and raised the bowl to his lips to sip, apparently having no spoons.
Chat blinked, looking down at the offered food, and nodded in thanks. He drank some, and felt its delicious taste spread across his tongue and creamy warmth sinking down into his body, radiating out from his stomach. He let out a soft breath, feeling the heat of the soup running past his lips, and took another deep gulp, catching a morsel of tender chicken this time and chewing.
Adrien said something apparently funny, as Link and Aryll started laughing.
Chat had a feeling it was probably a little joke at his expense, but the soup was too tasty to worry about such things right now.
With dinner consumed, Adrien and Aryll gathered the dishes and cooking pot, taking them to the nearby ocean to rinse out, Aryll holding a flaming torch for light in one hand and her doll in the other while Adrien carried the dishes in the empty pot.
Which left Chat and Link.
Feeling a bit better after the warm soup, Adrien once more attempted communication, this time drawing in the sand.
He drew a little face of himself, his friends, and even Hawkmoth and Mayura. He showed Link, pointing to his own drawn face. “Chat Noir,” he said, then drew a line, separating his Chat drawing from the rest.
Link nodded in apparent understanding. He pointed to one drawing, and made the same motion as earlier, closed hand near his mouth, opening as he moved it away.
So, Chat went down the line, pointing to each one. “Ladybug, Carapace, Rena, Viperion, Bunnyx, Ryuko.”
Link spoke, his voice a little rough from apparent disuse, pointing again at each and repeating their names. “Ladybug. Carapace, Rena, Viperion, Bunnyx, Ryuko.”
Chat nodded, confirming.
But then he pointed at the two further off, Mayura and Hawkmoth, which were…more purposefully drawn with fangs and horns.
“Bad guys,” Chat said, making a zigzag circle between them and his friends and an arrow between them. He pointed to each one. “Mayura. Hawkmoth.”
“Mayura, Hawkmoth.” Link repeated. He made another sign, crossing his fingers in an X.
Chat drew again, making an ear this time, and then a large circle around all his little doodles, hoping that it conveyed that, while they were not all friends, they were all the same sort of people in the same situation.
Link did his own little doodles, drawing himself, Adrien and Aryll with a pointed ear, and a circle around them.
Chat nodded emphatically. Exactly right!
It was around then that Adrien and Aryll returned with freshly cleaned dinnerware, and Hawkmoth.
-
“Where’d they find you?” Chat asked the man, who was dressed in a longer light violet tunic that went down to his shins and looser dark purple pants with gladiator sandals, his head covered by a purple paisley patterned bandana and wearing a white cloth mask that covered his face from the nose down. It seemed like he had not escaped injury either, as he was holding onto his sleeve to sling his own broken arm.
“Why do you care?” He snapped back in return, glaring at the cat over the fire.
“If it was in the sea, I was gonna say it was a real shame it’s not a full moon. You could’ve been taken by the tide.” Chat sighed with mocking wistfulness.
They were, unfortunately, at an impasse. Lost in an unfamiliar world with no allies and injured to boot, there was little either could do to one another in such circumstances.
Hawkmoth had not allowed Link to access his injuries as Chat had, so it was left to Adrien to do so. Chat, with a bit more time with the elf-people, had to translate for Hawkmoth.
“You’re going to have to amputate the arm,” he informed him as Adrien used a few of his own leather straps to make a sling for Hawkmoth.
“Flea ridden vermin,” Hawkmoth spat, not at all believing what he was saying.
“Godforsaken pest,” Chat shot back, hackles raising.
Once Hawkmoth’s arm was secured, Link stood, motioning for Adrien to follow him a few steps away to where their horses were. They spoke between themselves, Adrien nodding all the while.
Then, Adrien mounted one of the two horses they had, Link handing him a sword, shield and a bundle of arrows to put into his quiver, and he rode off into the darkness.
“W-what are you-?!” Hawkmoth demanded, lurching to a stand. “Adrien!!”
But the blonde was already too far to hear.
He went for Link, his walking stick in hand. “You moron! You’re sending a child into the unknown darkness all by himself!!”
“No, Hawkmoth, what are you-?!” Chat shouted, about to take his staff out and try to extend it to knock the man away from Link, but moving too fast aggravated his bruised side and he fumbled the stick before he could use it.
Did this idiot not realise they were living on their kindness?!
“What sort of idiot are-” Hawkmoth tried swinging at Link’s head with his walking stick, using his non-dominant but unbroken hand, but Link leaned back, sidestepped and tripped Hawkmoth, making the man land on his broken arm.
The man howled in pain, rolling onto his back and gripping the injury.
Link jabbed a thumb at the flailing man, an eyebrow raised in question as he looked at Chat.
Chat just sighed, relieved. He made a motion with his fingers, miming fangs.
Link just nodded in understanding, picking up Aryll by her armpits and moving her further from Hawkmoth, still writhing in the sand, placing her closer to Chat and sitting next to her so she was between them, all of them with the umbrella-like rock at their backs.
Chat had to watch as Link cooked something up for Hawkmoth, firmly believing he didn’t deserve the kindness. Hawkmoth was offered a mushroom rice ball, and he still laid out in the sand, silent and unmoving.
Aryll took the riceballs from Link, and gingerly placed them near Hawkmoths head, before dashing back to sit between the two blondes with her doll under one arm.
Either out of pride or arrogance, Hawkmoth didn’t eat them right away.
Link brought out some blankets stowed away on the horse, covering Hawkmoth where he laid, and making a little bed for Aryll on the sand. It was a warmish night, but Hawkmoth was further from the fire, so he was due the extra protection with the chilly sea winds.
Link stoked the fire, throwing more wood onto it, and sat down. Chat could only presume they were waiting for Adrien. He continued to stare at Hawkmoth, untrusting and unwilling to try sleep with the man so close.
But Link reached over, taking hold of his sleeve, and pulling him to lay down, putting his head next to Arylls on the bed mat to share the large pillow. He had his sword leaned up against his shoulder, eyes scanning the beaches, while also keeping a firm eye on Hawkmoth.
Chat stared at him for a second, eyes going down, to the shadowed face of little Aryll, already peacefully asleep, little hand curled up near her face, eyes roving back and forth beneath her eyelids, hugging her porcelain doll to her chest…
And he drifted asleep.
-
He woke, jolted out of sleep by a creaking noise and nickering horse. He quickly sat up, rubbing a line of drool from his lips, blinking hard in the shade as bright sunlight shone over the cliff he was laid against.
“Yaaay~! Yaaay~!” Aryll was giggling, tossing up stray hay in the back of a one horse cart as Adrien shuffled and moved haybales around, with Hawkmoth being a sullen bastard, sitting over the back end of the cart as he ate the cold, slightly sandy rice balls from the night previous as his breakfast.
“Chat.”
Chat turned again, and saw Link on his otherside. He made a motion, his hand in a fist, moving down then going up, palm opening. Chat could only assume it was some sort of ‘good morning’, repeating the motion himself, and Link’s smiled, reaching to his otherside, and holding out a plate and spoon.
On the plate was a pile of possibly the most delicious, fluffy rice Chat had ever seen, topped with a yellow blorb covered in an artful swirl of ketchup.
He knew what it was, Kagami had once showed him a video of it when he’d asked about what she missed most about Japan. Omurice!
And as he took the plate and spoon, Chat suddenly realised why Adrien, Aryll and Link had laughed at him the night previous. In copying Link, he’d eaten the soup straight from the bowl without noticing Adrien and Aryll having utensils. Likely, it’d been some mention about how Chat must’ve been starving or some gentle rib about he and Link being alike.
Chat ate, savouring the delicious, fluffy meal, humming appreciatively as he devoured each tasty bite with the utmost gusto.
Link patted his shoulder, smiling brightly still, and offered him a cup of lukewarm, coloured liquid to drink. Chat sniffed it. It was some kind of tea, so he happily drank that too.
He sighed, patting his stomach, once he was finished.
By then, Adrien had finished arranging the cart as he’d intended, and plucked the empty plate from his hands, putting in the cooking pot to go wash.
Though, Chat got to his feet, his leg and side feeling remarkably better (though still slightly hurty) after some great food and rest, so he quickly nabbed the pot from his grip and flounced away on one leg, going over towards the ocean as Adrien and Aryll had before to do the washing up himself.
Aryll giggled, following behind him, and behind her, Adrien, laughing himself.
[LOCATION NOTES: 0106 / 3867 / 0000]
The two blondes knelt at the beach, using the ocean water to wash as Aryll dipped her toes into the water a little further down, staring down at the sand and picking up tiny sea shells or rocks she found.
Adrien kept an eye on her, shouting when she got too far, where she’d then retreat back closer to them.
“Is she your little sister…?” Chat wondered, though knowing Adrien couldn’t understand him as he watched the young girl crouch, digging into the wet sand with tiny hands and a stick she’d found.
He’d never thought about siblings before. He’d been raised with Felix visiting almost every weekend, sure, but a cousin living across the English Channel was nothing like a little sister…He wondered where his father was in this world, his mother. Was Link this worlds’ version of his Gorilla and Nathalie? A guard and teacher?
With the sword Link had handed Adrien last night, it seemed like this world needed more might than his own world, so perhaps instead of being a pianist, he was a true swordsman here, rather than just a fencing student.
Chat watched Aryll, kicking her feet to watch the droplets splat on a calm, unmoving sea, twirling to make circles in the shallow water.
Aryll.
Aryll Agreste.
…Why did he suddenly feel so…lonely?
Adrien caught his attention, standing at full height with all the dishes done, and Chat winced. He’d been so occupied by his own thoughts, he’d barely washed two plates when he’d been the one to nab the pot to clean! He promised himself to do better the next time he coul-
Chat’s eyes lifted from the dishes back to Aryll, and saw a scaley green head rise up from the black rock just behind her. It had buggy, round, swirling eyes that did not match which way they wanted to go. Some sort of chameleon or gecko creature, and its gummy mouth opened, revealing a curled up, slimy tongue.
“Aryll!!” Both Chat and Adrien shouted. Adrien reached for his sword, but she was too far, she’d be hit!!
Chat took out his staff, putting it behind him and extending it with practised ease. The end of the staff connected with stone behind him, and pushed himself forward, launching across the sand bank to Aryll, who was unaware of the monster behind her, looking at the two blondes with wide eyes as if asking if she’d done something bad.
Chat got there first, skiddling along the sand to scoop up the little girl and turn his back to the monster. She squeaked as she was grabbed, dropping her doll into the surf as Chat wrapped himself around her.
“Hilly!!” She screamed, trying to reach for the doll.
He yelled as that disgusting tongue made contact with his back, sticking them together for a fraction of a second and pulling Chat backwards as he held Aryll to his chest, slamming into the black stone the lizard creature was mounted on and knocking the wind out of the cat themed hero, but Chat was heavier than it was anticipating, so it’s tongue disconnected before he could be dragged further.
To his right, Adrien came running in, sword drawn, leaping off one of the stones in the sand to launch himself right at the lizard.
There was a dying squeal as Chat heaved, his grip on Aryll not loosening until Adrien hopped back over the rock, entering his line of sight again. Chat let go, and Aryll leapt into the other blonde's arms, weeping. Adrien himself was panting hard, his hands shaking as he held the little girl, and their gazes met.
Adrien stood, carrying the softly sobbing Aryll, and held out a hand to Chat. He took it, and Adrien collided into him, an arm around him in half a hug, a show of his utmost thanks for saving Aryll from taking that hard hit, or possibly even being taken by the monster entirely since she was so much smaller.
He let go, clapping a hand on Adrien’s shoulder, starting the short walk back. Adrien went for the cleaned cooking pot, but Chat, again, launched himself ahead of them to grab it, holding the cast iron above his head and extending his pole straight up.
And Adrien laughed, amazed and looking up at Chat. Aryll peeked through teary eyelashes, and her eyes went wide when she saw Chat so high up. Her hands lifted, as if she could fly from Adrien’s arms and into Chat’s.
Adrien set her back down onto the sand, letting her quickly grab Hilly the Doll from the sand as Chat returned back to earth. He set down the pot, and picked up Aryll, holding tightly to her as she held tightly to the straps around him and onto her doll. He went back up, and she shrieked with laughter, her head whipping around and lightly smacking Chat with her braided pigtails to look at just how far she could see. She shouted down, calling out to Link and Adrien back on the ground gleefully.
Link looked up, a hand raised to guard from the sun as he watched them, waving back at her. Adrien was walking back with the pot.
He lowered himself again, putting Aryll down as she sprinted to Link, probably telling her of all he saw while flying so high.
Link picked her up, listening and nodding along as Adrien mounted the horse not lashed to the cart. He placed her into the back as she went on and on, seemingly finding endless things in a quick five second ride.
Link went over to Chat, fully hugging him as tightly as he could without injuring his bruised side, then holding him at arms’ length, bringing their foreheads together.
Chat wouldn’t lie, he was a little…startled by such a physical show of appreciation, but he didn’t dislike it. He tried to return the gesture, patting on Link’s shoulder a bit harder than he thought necessary, but Link smiled at him so his intentions had to have been communicated.
Link then hoisted Chat by his armpits into the back of the cart, helping him up into it with his injured knee as if he weighed next to nothing.
While they were gone, Link had broken the rest of camp and packed up into the cart, so both he and Hawkmoth were able to sit and not be injured further by walking or attempting to ride horses themselves.
Link got behind the horse as Aryll sat beside Chat near the front, his back to Link, with Hawkmoth still sitting near the edge with his legs hanging out the back end as Link urged the horse to start moving, going back the way Adrien had the night before.
“Hawkmoth,” Adrien called. “There’s monsters here, did you know?”
“Of course I knew,” Hawkmoth said sourly. “One broke my arm. It nearly drowned me.”
“Is that how that happened?” Chat asked. “I broke my leg because your Akuma threw me into a wall before sending us here.”
“I only wish it’d been your neck,” Hawkmoth replied bitterly.
“Same to you, Hawky. Same to you.” Chat said, smiling blithely at the back of the mans’ head.
-
They rode for a while across the beach, with the sheer cliffs on the right and the ocean tapering into a river on the left. In the distance, there were more monsters, gathered on the far shore around a fire, roasting fish on sticks, but they didn’t try to cross the river to get to them.
Sand turned to dirt beneath their wheels, and they entered a valley pass, past a ledge that opened to the beach they’d just left, and into narrower roads ahead.
Adrien wasn’t holding onto the reins of his horse, laying back on it and letting it follow them of its own accord, snoozing to catch up on the sleep he missed the night previously.
Meanwhile, Chat was having a wonderful time riding with Aryll! He had never been in a cart for so long!! His head tilted back, pointing up at clouds, and he was even picking up some words from Aryll. (Oddly, there seemed to be floating landmasses in the sky too, but nobody seemed to notice nor care about their existence.)
When a cloud floated by, looking like a teapot, Chat had pointed it out to her, and she taught him the word for tea and teapot. They had a good laugh when a dragon flew through it, and broke the formation, saying that the teapot had shattered. He pointed at things, and looking at her, she answered happily.
He learned the words for Sword, Shield, Wheel, Arrow, Bow, Broken, Tea, Teapot and Boots along the ride. When coming to a split in the road, they went left, which opened up into a wide field with a small, very shallow pond in the middle, and they arrived at a massive horse head shaped building.
[LOCATION NOTES: 0507 / -3452 / 0047] - Highland Stable
Link pulled up to the building, and Adrien worried for a moment that he and Hawkmoth were being left here.
The man shook Adrien awake, and he snorted, rising up and rubbing his eye. He nodded, sliding off his horse, going inside as Link went to help Adrien off the cart, and motioning for Hawkmoth to follow, leaving Aryll in the cart to hop off herself and start running around the enclosed fencing of what had to be a stable.
Link motioned Chat towards a table and chair, Adrien going over to the front where a large map was pinned to the canvas wall. He shortly returned with paper he tore into equal-ish squares and a pencil, handing them to Chat. Link took two of the pieces and the pencil, and drew out Hawkmoth and Chat, showing them to Chat as he gave the pencil back.
“Ladybug, Carapace, Rena, Viperion, Bunnyx, Ryuko.” He said. Chat nodded, and started repeating the same doodles he had the night previous.
Adrien took the little Hawkmoth and Chat squares from Link’s hand, raising his wrist like he was talking into a smart watch as he went over to a large map on the wall. He dug into his pocket, and pulled out what looked like a squishy ball of jel, sliding the square on it before sticking it to the map like it was office puddy.
Chat watched, and realised what they were doing.
On the map was where they were currently. Adrien held out a hand for one of the pieces of paper Chat had finished drawing on.
Chat put one in his hand. “Ladybug.” He told him.
Adrien spoke into his wrist. “Ladybug.”
An ever familiar voice answered back from his wrist (which, it seemed, to actually some kind of smart watch…) and Adrien stuck the piece of paper onto the map.
“Marinette?!” Chat asked, eyes wide, almost hopping in glee. Adrien looked at him sharply, surprised. Chat then looked sheepish, a hand scratching the back of his head.
He blinked, perturbed, and continued on. “Carapace.”
Adrien handed him the Carapace drawing. So it repeated until all the pieces were placed, showing that his friends were scattered all over the country, with one in basically every corner.
Hawkmoth stormed up, and handed Adrien one more drawing. “Mayura.” He said, as loudly and clearly as he could.
Adrien took it, and spoke into the watch. “Mayura.”
A moment passed, then a few minutes, then a few more. Marinette spoke, and Adrien shook his head, arms held up in a shrug.
“She has to be here, we were all-!” Hawkmoth tried to say, but Chat put a hand on his chest and pushed him back before he could try yelling into Adrien’s face.
“Hawkmoth, be quiet!” He hissed. “Mayura’s skin is blue . She probably looks like a monster to these people, just like the thing that almost drowned you and grabbed Aryll! And Adrien sliced that thing on sight ! If anything, she’s most likely hiding!”
Hawkmoth was breathing hard, taking each hissing inhale through tightly clenched teeth, glaring at the map as if it would tell him where she was if he glared hard enough. He turned away with a huff, shoulders tensed as he stormed back outside.
Chat shook him off, turning to Adrien, bowing in apology.
Adrien nodded, a hand held up as if it say it was fine. He gave back the Mayura drawing, looking at the map again. He pointed at the one with Chat and Hawkmoth, the stable where they were, and started making a line along the roads, going through a forest, across what seemed like quite a few lakes, and ending at Viperion in the lowest right mainland area.
“Lurelin,” Adrien said, tapping on the map. “Viperion, Lurelin.”
Chat nodded. “Lurelin.”
Adrien continued on, his finger dragging across the open water. Chat could only assume a boat would be involved there, and ending at a beach, going up to another village marker. “Hateno, Ryuko.”
Chat nodded, repeating the name.
Adrien drew his finger over an area that didn’t seem to have any roads, skirting around the edge of a mountain and around a massive lake to a larger city marker on the map. “Zora, Ladybug.”
He continued, finally getting back onto the roads, travelling up to a tower marker. “Citadel.” He then followed the roads again to an island in a lake connected by roads. “Tarrytown.” Further up to the top most corner of the map. “-Akala-” Following the coat back out, now off road again, past a skull shaped formation in a lake, past a few gecko shaped lakes, to the foot of a volcano. “Goron.” Then back onto a road, out of the volcano area, hugging the edges of the northern most part of the country, a long, long road, up to another village marker in the farthest left of the map. “Carapace, Rito.” He looked at Chat again.
“Carapace, Rito.” He nodded.
Back down, down, over the bridge of a valley, over a river, and onto a plateau with another village marker on it. “Bunnyx,” he said, pointing, saying no other location name Chat could mimic.
Chat nodded. “Bunnyx.”
Adrien doubled back on the map, his finger dragging through a narrow looking valley that opened up into a wide and mostly empty expanse. A field, or a desert, Chat wondered.
Probably a desert, because there were only two towns on the map. If it was a field, there’d probably be way more villages there. “Gerudo, Rena Rouge.” Adrien said, pointing at the one furthest into the map.
“Gerudo, Rena Rouge.” He nodded.
It was basically an entire round road trip!
Once they were all together, and hopefully found Mayura along the way, they could get back home to Paris!
They had the moron responsible right there, so it’d hopefully be an easy return.
Chat nodded, looking at the map, hands on his hips. Easy peasey!
