Chapter Text
Jason paces across the small grave, heavy boots sinking into soft soil, packing it down. Dirt and dust stain his pants gray, red rust lingering beneath his fingernails. His breath trembles in the air before him, terror rising and falling with each exhale, ebbing slowly away. His cheeks are stiff with dried tears, the last remnants of a remorse he no longer feels.
The site is unmarked, but in his mind’s eye he can see the headstone, the inscription carved with all the desperate hatred howling from his soul, all the silent, vicious loathing:
TIM DRAKE
Brother
Replacement
Pretender
Monster
