Summary
"They're watching me," Jason says, when Daisy Mae has left.
"Who, the drag queens?" Tim says. His face is an inch from Jason's chest, and when the strobe lights flash their way he can see a drop of sweat moving down Jason's pecs. His mind feels staticky, bouncing from general outrage to a general desire to put his mouth on Jason's skin. He's too horny to be rational about any of this.
++
Tim goes to a gay club and finds himself embroiled in one of Jason's cases. Glitter is involved. Also crises of morality. Also booty shorts.

Bookmarker's Notes
In the Cave, Dick is bringing up files on the computer on a string of old cases. Damian has his back turned, so Tim sees the danger before he does. He watches in quiet horror as Dick reaches up and pulls Damian down onto his lap as if Damian’s still ten years old and not someone who has to take three showers a day.
Damian goes rigid, bent up like a marble statue of a boy, looking as if he would very much like to put a bullet in his own brain. Tim’s not sure he’s even breathing. But Dick is oblivious, pointing at a series of photos on the screen, free arm wrapped around Damian’s waist.
Tim lasts six seconds as unwilling observer before he knocks a box of Damian’s tools off a nearby shelf. They clatter across the Cave floor with a racket that disturbs the bats overhead, and then Damian is rushing towards him with a murderous expression on his face.
“You’re welcome,” Tim says quietly, and leaves the Cave.

Bookmarker's Notes
Tim thinks about going to the Pinkney Tower for her last night, like she’s digging her thumb into a bruise. She makes it all the way to the lobby, hands stuffed in the pockets of her jacket–it’s a classic Gotham summer day, 65 and raining–but in the end she can’t get on the elevator. It’s too much, all of a sudden. Who is Tim kidding? Jason’s death isn’t Tim’s personal tragedy, no matter that she’s shaped the arc of her life around it. Tim should probably be embarrassed by how often she thinks about Jason, a girl she’d only spoken to a handful of times.
Why don’t you have actual friends? Tim thinks, there in the lobby of the Pinkney Tower on her last day in Gotham. Why don’t you have anyone real to say goodbye to? Tim’s been lonely for so long that it’s felt like an immutable state of being. It’s only now occurring to her that she’s fifteen and about to go to college, where many people establish profound lifelong friendships. This is Tim’s chance. The only real obstacle is herself: a weird little girl with strange interests and an innately suspicious nature. But Tim is a genius, so surely she can figure it out.
And, frankly, she’s about to have a lot of free time–there aren’t any vigilantes worth stalking in New Haven. She’s checked.

Summary
“You don’t eat bacon because tiger-brain thinks people are meat,” Wally says, just to make sure he’s on the right track.
“You say that like people aren’t made of meat.”
“It’s- we’re people,” Wally says, his mouth running without consulting his brain. “Isn’t that different?”
The look Gar gives him is half frustration and half pity.
“Wally, the biggest difference between pigs and people is opposable thumbs,” he says.
Wally has a couple brushes with cannibalism over the years. It's probably fine.

Bookmarker's Notes
Each time since, Dick has not looked Wally in the eyes. It makes Wally want to scream. It makes him want to shake Dick by the shoulders. It makes Wally want to walk back into the Speedforce and hurtle back in time and catch the moment where he sacrifices himself for some- “greater good-” and shake himself like a sack of dry macaroni.
He loses time when he thinks about it. Last time he woke up in the middle of the Nevada salt flats with eight hours of his life missing and thirty missed calls on his phone.

She says yes. The word victims incite something in her.
They tell her this.
Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Not a lot of people know. It’s very hush, confidential.
Because. Bruce Wayne has seven children.

Bookmarker's Notes
Love doesn’t make up for the scars it leaves. Bruce Wayne may love his children, his children may love him, but nothing changes. These children still have bodies that are decorated with scars, bodies that will stop working before they turn sixty. These children have been hurt by love, and nothing is excusable.

Summary
Somewhere in the multiverse, there's a universe where letting his children dress up in capes and follow him into vigilantism seems like a good idea.
Bruce is determined that it isn't going to be this one . . . Despite his children's repeated attempts to convince him otherwise.
(Or: "When you're eighteen, you can do what you want. Until then, no capes.")

Bookmarker's Notes
“I took you in to give you a home, Jason,” Bruce said, making his voice gentle. “You’re under no obligation to follow Dick’s footsteps and take up vigilantism when you’re older. Or to join the police force. Or to fight crime in any way. Whatever you want to do will be fine.”
“In fact, if it’s something nonviolent, you’ll probably get catapulted to favorite child status,” Dick confided.
