Work Text:
It had been a great day.
Tweek had come pick him up early morning, and then they had gone meet their friends. They had decided to go to some city (Craig couldn't remember its name) to buy stuff the others apparently needed.
In general, they had a great time. They went to a lot of shops, tried on some clothes, even went to a nice cat cafe. Tweek was scared of the cats though, so instead he and Craig had an ice cream outside. That was fun.
They had a great day.
As they were entering the train station on their way home though, Craig started doubting this.
Everything was too loud. All the lights were too bright. The spaces felt bigger than they probably actually were. He didn't know what to do with his body, unable to grab Tweek's hand because their friends were between them. His clothes were too tight and uncomfortable. The smells were unbearable.
He wanted to cry.
He couldn't cry.
His friends reached a stop where they had to wait for their train, and Craig was grateful because at least standing still slightly reduced the stimuli a bit. He took out his phone and earplugs, putting them on and playing the first playlist he could find. “Ya te vas a mejorar” sounded through his earplugs, making Craig think of Kenny, who he knew for a fact loved that song. That thought comforted him a bit.
He pulled down the ears of his hat, which caused them to comfortably press the earplugs against his ears, blocking almost all the background noise. He rocked back and forth on his feet for a bit, the least obvious stim of his but still more calming than nothing. While fidgeting with his hat and looking at the floor, Tweek's hand appeared in front of him. Craig looked up to see his boyfriend, gently smiling at him with an extended hand. An offer.
Tweek had noticed.
Craig put his hand on Tweek's, comforted by doing the same thing he did every day. He hadn't noticed exactly how much he'd needed it, but the familiarity of it managed to make everything a lot less bad. Still awful, but a lot less bad.
Until, that is, Clyde elbowed his arm.
“What'd you think Craig?” He asked his opinion on whatever debate the others were having, Craig had more pressing issues on his mind. He took a deep breath, the contact extremely unwelcomed.
“CLYDE!!!” Tweek shrieked reproaching, noticing how much it had bothered Craig, yet painfully unaware of the effect his very own scream had on his boyfriend. Craig quickly let go of Tweek's hand in order to cover his ears, closing his eyes shut.
After a couple seconds like that, he felt a hand gently brushing against his own. He opened his eyes, to see Tweek mouthing a “sorry”. Craig gave this a soft nod, he knew Tweek struggled to control his voice’s volume, and let him hold his hand again.
“Leave him alone for now ok?” Tolkien asked Clyde and Jimmy, who quickly agreed. Craig tried to thank him, but he found himself to have fully lost his words, so instead he flashed Tolkien a grateful smile, which was soon returned.
The conversation went back to normal after this, Craig kept his focus on the music so he didn't have to hear everything else, and he went back to rocking on his feet. Tweek kept holding his hand, drawing slow circles on it with his thumb. He was starting to feel better.
Until the train came.
The screeching of its wheels on the tracks, the different even worse smell, the way it seemed to bounce up and down, fuck even the environment change. It all made him want to cry, he could feel tears already starting to form in his eyes.
He ran off to sit on one of the seats in the train, luckily it was late so the wagon was almost empty. Craig hugged his knees then, fidgeting with his hands as his head was propped on his knees. Soon enough, Tweek was back by his side, sitting right next to him.
They spent a while in silence, finding enough comfort in being next to each other.
At one point, when Craig was finally starting to feel better, “Enamorado Tuyo” started playing. This made him think of Tweek, so he took off one earplug and passed it to his boyfriend. Tweek, noticing, flashed him the brightest smile and put it on. It took him a few seconds to notice which song it was, but when he noticed his smile grew and his cheeks gained a cute pink tint.
As Craig admired how pretty his boyfriend was, his mind started getting foggy and his eyelids heavy. He leant onto Tweek then, his head placed on his chest, hearing his heartbeat with the ear he wasn't using on the music. Tweek put an arm around his body, definitely a welcome gesture. Craig felt safe. Craig felt loved. But Craig also felt incredibly tired, so he decided going to sleep right there wasn't such a bad choice.
