Work Text:

Jason didn’t know what to think. He crawled through the window of his favorite safe house, quickly discarding the armor and the helmet. He tried to clear his mind as he showered and changed into comfy clothes.

He didn’t want to think about Danny and what he’d said. He didn’t want to think about nearly dying again. He refused to think about green, glowy goo.

He needed to focus on hunting down the guys who’d shot him. He’d have to make an appearance soon to make sure people didn’t think Red Hood was dead. He didn't want to think about the chaos that could come from people thinking he was dead.

He was alive. He knew he was alive.

He wasn’t dead. He wasn’t

He closed his eyes for a moment, breathing deeply before going to make himself some tea and ramen. He didn’t feel like cooking right now. He just wanted to curl up on his couch and reread Sense and Sensibility . Books made much more sense than whatever craziness he’d found himself in now.

He’d come back. He didn’t need to think about the possibility of still being slightly dead.

The only side effect was the Lazarus rage, and maybe some enhanced strength. But that didn’t mean that he was still slightly dead. It didn’t. He was alive. He was alive. Hewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehewasalivehe—

The microwave beeped and he pulled out the mug, dropping in a tea bag. He was too tired to make a proper cup of tea today.

What even was he supposed to do with this information? Were there other side effects he should know about? And what was that projecting stuff Danny did? Jason had been able to sense Danny’s thoughts, but it wasn’t like telepathy. It reminded him more of empathy but with some words coming through.

He knew he’d have to go back, get more information. He didn’t want to. He was perfectly content with how he was.

Could Danny help with the Rage?

It didn’t matter. He didn’t need to go back. He’d been perfectly fine before running into Danny, aside from the almost dying again. It didn’t matter.

And then there was also the fact that Danny looked surprisingly like Tim.

Ughh. He’d have to look into the siblings, even if it was just to find out if there was some connection. It wouldn’t do to have a Tim clone running around hyped up on Lazarus water.

He’d get to see Jazz again.

Jason didn’t want to learn more about himself. He knew he had to. He just didn’t want… he was alive. He knew he was. What would Bruce say? How was he supposed to react to finding out  he was still somewhat dead? After everything he had gone through, he was still somewhat dead. He wasn’t as alive as he’d thought.

What was he supposed to do?

He was so tired of things always changing. He’s alive and loved by his mother. She’s dead and he’s on the streets. He’s taken in by Bruce. Bruce hates him. The Joker kills him. He’s alive and with the League. He’s free and full of Rage. He’s talking again with the family. Things are better. Now he’s somewhat dead again. What next? Was he going to die again? Was the Rage going to be worse?

He groaned, setting down his tea and dropping his head into his hands.

He needed to talk to them. He had to find out more information. He’d drive himself mad with questions if he didn’t go to them for answers.

He’d have to ask more questions about… liminals. And he’d have to dig for more information on who they were. Were they connected with the League? Were they here to bring him back to Talia? He didn’t think so, but he’d still have to proceed cautiously. He’d need to get some DNA samples, check to see if Danny was a clone.

Nope.

He wasn’t going to think about this anymore. He was going to finish his tea, read some of his book and go to bed.

Everything else could wait till morning.
