Steph the Vampire Slayer

Summary:

This is something I came up with between sleep and waking. I was just lying there and thought “Lautski BTVS”. I have checked and it’s not an actual thing. There are a few Hatchetfield vampire fics. The ones I’ve read are great.

This isn’t so much a fic as it is a pitch for one. Really, it’s just me having fun with one of my favourite universes. I love Hatchetfield to death, I will be really excited for whatever comes next and whenever that is.

Each season would have about 20 episodes. They’re all a mixture of Big Bad, Villain of the week, Highschool/College situations, Hatchetfield insanity and Romantic Drama/fluff. Each Lord in Black gets to be a Big Bad of their own season.

Notes:

I'm legitimately nervous to post this. I've been going back on forth on uploading it. Sometimes you just gotta take the leap and hope for the best, y'know? This is my first (and probably only) full on fandom work.

Anyway, I tried to include all the relevant tags. There are a lot of characters and relationships in Hatchetfield. If I'm missing one, I'll add it in.

Also slight Trigger Warning for every chapter. There's descriptions of violence, but it's not super graphic. .

Chapter 1: Where Everybody fits

Chapter Text

This is set in modern-day Hatchetfield. I can see that place being built on top of a Hellmouth.

Stephanie Lauter’s the slayer. The one chosen in her generation to fight against evil. She still has her “attitude problem” and phone obsession. Mayor Solomon Lauter knows about the slaying from the beginning, he just doesn’t care. As long as it doesn’t hurt her/his reputation. If that remains intact, she can do whatever she wants.

She’s seventeen at the start. Her grades aren’t great. Partly because of Twitter warfare, partly because of fighting vampires/patrolling. My point being that character personalities doesn’t really change. She has to improve her grades. Or else lose her phone. Like in canon.

Duke is her Watcher. He’s still a social worker. Will occasionally show up at the school if he has a case there. Keeps many old books for research in his office. Calls almost everyone darlin. Is the main guy doing research into the Supernatural goings on.

Pete is a vampire. He still has his bow tie, glasses, sweater, voice cracks, and suspenders. He was turned a couple weeks before turning eighteen a few decades prior to the events of the show. He was turned because he was badly beaten up by bullies in the late 70s who left him for dead. He was found by Ted who smelled the blood and turned him. (Spankoffski bros)

It turned out they were related, and they teamed up to become an iconic duo. They were actually pretty lethal killing machines. Up until 1997 when they ate a witch’s family. The pissed, petty witch cursed them to have their souls back. He’s dealing with having his soul back as best he can. Feeling all the remorse led to him getting back into science and chemistry. It was something he used to love and he needed a lifeline. Supernatural doesn’t exclude science, they can co-exist.

He’s back at high school because he never actually finished it. To get anywhere in this world, you need background checks and a paper trail.

Richie’s a vengeance demon who was forced back into human form. He still has some demonic powers as he wasn’t completely cut off. It just so happens that Wiggly (head vengeance demon) likes the Lipschitz-Matthews-Goldstein family. Each male member has some vengeance demon in them. Whether they decided to go the full vengeance demon route or not.

A few years prior to season 1, Richie was granting a twisted vengeance wish that got reversed. As a result, he gets shoved back into human form and has to go back to high school. He needs a paper trail to prove he exists. He got really into anime. Richie lives with his twin brother Trevor and his Uncle Paul from S1 – S3.

Ruth’s a reanimated corpse. Because of FrankenRuth. She died in the school theatre after falling out of the lighting booth. She was brought to the morgue and her body was nabbed by a mad scientist. It was intact enough to be reanimated. She’s still a horny theatre kid lowkey obsessed with Star Wars. Although going into the lighting booth doesn’t bring up the best memories.

Pete, Richie and Ruth are a squad at the beginning. They’re the supernatural, “weird”
outcasts.

Grace is a witch. Here me out - Christianity obsession is switched with Pagan/Hecate. You think about it, it makes sense. I can see her getting really into witchcraft. (Dark!Grace, which we will get to)
But that is gradual, it begins with her just being a happy, sweet girl who’s highly principled about Chastity and properness. She likes hanging out with her friends and trying to suppress/ignore any sexual feelings of any kind. She joins up with the Nerd squad and The Nerds just sort of go with it. I like them being friends outside of the events of NPMD. Like they don’t need that situation to meet.

Max is a werewolf. Literal Monster, anyone? He’s still the star QB and a massive bully. To everyone, not just the Nerds. He’s been crushing on Grace since they were kids. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks about that. He’s terrified of the Supernatural but won’t admit it. He does live with his Dad, who sucks.

The Nerds – Steph, Pete, Richie, Ruth, Grace, Max and Duke. Honorary Nerds - Brenda, Stacy, Brooke, Rose, Trevor, Kyle, Jason and Miss Holloway.

Alice gets psychic visions. She channels them into her writing, sometimes. That was the inspiration for her play about the vampire girl. Hatchetfield High put that play on in her final year. It was also the play that Ruth died during.

She’s not really around for the first two seasons because she’s off at college studying creative writing. She comes back to town once every couple weeks. Mainly to see her vampire girlfriend Deb or to visit Bill. If one of her psychic visions relevant, she gets in touch with the Nerds. She and Steph follow each other on Instagram.

Alice and Bill have a good relationship. He doesn’t particularly like Deb, but not because of the vampire thing. He just doesn’t like her. But he’s trying. The Woodwards are descended from the Hatchet men. This manifests is the fact that Bill owns an axe. For security.

CCRP are still a shady corporation. Paul, Ted, Charlotte, Mr Davidson, Melissa, Bill and Sylvia make up the technical department. CCRP is still a shady corporation. They keep their technical department employees around for a reason. Mainly to keep an eye on them and their supernatural attachment.

Paul is the one who always goes for the coffee run. He always goes to Beanies, mainly to talk to/awkwardly flirt with Emma.

The Perkins family were a really well-known and respected witch family in Hatchetfield. Emma was not here for that. She wanted to get out of Hatchetfield so dipped when she turned 18. She spent the next 15 years travelling around.

Jane followed her perfect life plan. She married Tom and had time. She died the year before Season 1 in a tragic car accident. When Emma got the call, she decided to move back to Hatchetfield to put down roots. Literally and figuratively. Tom is grieving his wife while trying to keep himself and Tim above water.

The other Hatchetfield citizens are also there. They’re mostly doing their own thing, as per usual. And are ready to go feral at any moment, like in canon. Hatchetfield is a “tiny town” overfilled with peoples and settings. When Steph asked her Dad about how they managed to fit all of this into the one town, his response is “it’s as big or small as it needs to be.”

Hannah lives with Lex and Ethan in a small apartment. Their Mom went to prison for drug possession with intent to distribute. She and her Roller Rama friends all have their canon powers. The ones who are teenagers go to Hatchetfield High because no one likes Sycamore. Fuckin Timberwolves.

She gets bullied less in school because people know more about the supernatural stuff. So when she’s talking to Webby, no one questions it. Demons, vampires, werewolves and reanimated corpses are all real. So why not a mysterious invisible spider lady who almost no one else can see?

Steph and Hannah are classmates in Tom Houston’s Shop class. Hannah is a couple years younger than Steph but they like each other well enough. Steph kinda reminds Hannah of Webby for some reason she can’t quite figure out.

Charles Coven runs Roller Rama. He gets local business to sponsor the Roller Rama. The place gets wrecked at least once a week. He’s rich but he still needs funds for all those repairs. There are rumours about to who he is. Some say he’s a cannibal, others say he sold his soul for power. No one really knows what his deal is.

CCRP makes and supplies the mind milk for the matches. They’re missing The Champ so the fights are less lethal. At least no one’s being sucked into a hive mind. The worst that happens is one of the kids breaks a bone. As long as nothing worse happens, Charles will pay the parents and the hospitals to keep quiet.

PIEP is around but don’t make their presence known until season 3. There’s a government base on the edge of town. Everyone assumes its disused. It’s not. They’re like a good version of the Initiative. They’re studying the supernatural elements. Where better to do that then on a Hellmouth? Instead of turning the mythical beings into weapons, they’re just trying to understand it.

General John Macnamara, Xander Lee, Colonel Schaeffer and Liz Cunningham all work there. (I like the theory of Liz Cunningham from Honey Queen being a PIEP agent, so I’m going with it) The residents of Hatchetfield know them and other PIEP members as civilian individuals. We meet them individually before it’s revealed they work for PIEP.

John and Xander are a married couple who own a cat. The other cats in their neighbourhood seem to like them. Xander and John’s cover story – they’re ex-military who moved back to Hatchetfield after John’s family mysteriously/tragically died. They were left a house and decided to stick around. Xander has told John to stop authorising people to use his firearm.

Liz Cunningham married to her husband about a decade prior to the events of the show. (Whatever his name is, I don’t think the fandom has given him one) He’s a werewolf and she was supposed to get close to him so PIEP could collect samples. She got the sample and genuinely fell in love with him.

Miss Holloway is the mysterious lady who runs the Miss Retro’s diner. Everyone loves Miss Retro’s. It’s open during the evenings and nights.

It’s one of the hangouts for the teens. Miss Retro’s lets literally anyone in with almost zero questions. If you like good food, great 1980s music and just good vibes, you can come in. That’s the only requirement. Vampires don’t need to be invited in like they do with every other place in town.

Rose and Brenda both work there. The main source of music is the jukebox. Once a week, there’s a live music spot for local bands. Needy Beasts perform sometimes. Her cherry pie is absolutely amazing.

No one’s quite sure when the diner opened up or when Miss Holloway first showed up. It seems like its always been there. No one has a bad word to say about it or her. Whenever Duke needs extra backup, he will call her and her witchy services. And he will do that thing where he looks at her adoringly while she does cool stuff.

Needy Beasts consists of Thrash, Skud, Rose and Kale. They preform “Best of You” and “Nightmare time Theme Remix” at least once a gig. Those are their most well known songs. The band is doing pretty well for themselves. They want to be world renowned. But Hatchetfield knows who they are, which is a good start.

Chapter 2: LIB Season 1 - Nibbly, Secondary Antagonist - Max Jagerman

Summary:

Now that we know where everyone fits and what our major player's backstories are, it's time for the story to begin.

Notes:

I'm putting this here. All the chapter titles in my word document are highlighted. I do this with almost everything I write. Because it looks nice and it helps me find the start of the next chapter.

In this one, each title has the corresponding Lord in Black's colour. Nibbly gets pink. Tinky gets yellow. Blinky gets dark blue because I couldn't find purple, Pokey gets blue, Wiggly gets green.

Chapter Text

Pete and Steph meeting is basically just cannon. She wants to cheat on a biology test, he agrees. Grace rats them out to Miss Mulberry. They talk outside of Principal Blim’s office. He runs off when he spots the stake sticking out of her pocket. He runs off, he can also smell Max nearby. There’s no way he’s sticking around for that.

Steph later asks him to help her study. Pete is nervous about it because he knows she’s the slayer. Richie and Ruth give him the push to go for it. They begin to study together. For some reason, it’s always in the evening after patrol. Steph begins to hang out with the Nerds during school. She suspects their undead status but doesn’t want to do anything about it.

There’s a fair amount of supernatural/undead beings in the student body. The other students are kind of aware of what the Nerds are. They still get bullied by Max up to the Waylon incident. Because he’s an idiotic asshole refusing to acknowledge the obvious. Or to deal with any of his parental issues.

Everyone else is pretty chill about it. I think Steph’s stance would be “if you’re not evil or involved in evil, I won’t kill you.”

Pete is too awkward to say anything until Steph figures it out. She’s smarter then she thinks she is, she always kind of knew.

Max is the biggest bully in Hatchetfield High. He doesn’t even need to be undead to be a threat. He’s lso the star player so the faculty are forced to turn a blind eye. He really earns the “I’m the reason you run and hide. I’m a Literal Monster.” (I love that song, it’s so good) Anyway, he goes after Pete during Pete going to Pasquali’s for a study session/date with Steph.

Pete bites Max on the arm while he has him in a headlock. This makes Max let go and Pete runs off. He wipes the blood off his mouth before licking it off his hand.
Steph, Richie and Ruth finds Pete in the boys bathroom the next day. He didn’t shop up the previous night and she wants to know why he stood her up. Grace pops up to propose her plan on taking Max down a few pegs.

This leads to the Nerds pranking Max in the old Waylon house. Yeah, there’s a Max redemption arc here. Yay!

Max doesn’t die, but he does almost fall. The flooring is shit in the Waylon house. Steph manages to grab him in time. He leaves the house with a different outlook on the Nerds. He’s happy that they cared enough to come up with the prank plan.

After he leaves, Steph and Pete finally talk about the vampire in the room. He reveals that he has a soul. Steph needs time to process the events of the night.

He gets bitten by a wolf on the way back into town. Once a month, he goes full wolf mode. Once he joins up with the Nerds, they lock him in a cage. They all claim to get no pleasure from it but clearly do. Grace calls dibs on watching him. For reasons.

Throughout the first half of the season, there’s something lurking in the background. The something is revealed to be Nibbly. Nibbly doesn’t really have a big evil plan. He just wants to eat everything. It could be anything from a lollipop to a person to a car. People do have an interesting taste though.

The Church of the Starry Children bring him human sacrifices. They are more of a direct threat. More and more people have been going missing and not just during the Honey Festival. They want their Lord to be on Earth full time, not just for one night a year.

Steph and the Nerds start off thinking it’s just vampires or one really hungry vampire. They soon realise it’s something much more dangerous. Through a lot of research, Duke uncovers the history of The Church of the Starry Children. He makes a board of all the people they think/know are involved in the cult.

The villains of the week are Church of Starry Children. This includes Roman Murray and Shelia Young. They’re the main two but the cult has many members who Steph has to go up against.

Nibbly lurks in the shadows. He is interested in Steph because of her Mom who was a Honey Queen at some point. Steph has no idea about what happened to her Mom. During a fight with Roman, he mentions it. Steph goes digging and adds what happened to all the Honey Queens to the pile of reasons to defeat Nibbly. It’s personal now.

Duke discovers there’s a ritual going down at Shelia Young’s place. One that will finally fulfil the Church of the Starry Children’s goal. The group heads there on the night of the ritual. Shelia is a vampire who preys on men. She marries them and then she and Sherman eat them.

The Nerds break into the house and fight their way through, dispatching of cult members as they go. Steph and Shelia get into a fight, It ends in Steph making Shelia trip over her dress and falling to the ground. Steph stakes her just to be sure. Sherman swears vengeance but gets dusted by Richie by accident. He was just standing nearby and Richie dropped his stake.

Nibbly and Steph finally have a confrontation at the end of the season. Nibbly tells Roman to kill Steph and feed him the corpse. Corpses aren’t as tasty, but they’ll do. Steph and Roman fight, culminating in them standing above Nibbly.

It looks like she’s about to meet her end. Just as Roman goes to shove her into Nibbly’s waiting mouth,Grace uses a spell to blindside him. Max tackles him to the ground. It just so happens to be a full moon so he transforms mid-tackle. Roman is ripped limb from limb.

He was the last one left. There are no more Church of Starry Children left. Steph drops her sword, landing a clean shot right through the top part of Nibbly’s mouth. The blade sinks through, dividing him in half.

After he’s defeated, the gang goes to Miss Retros. “We saved the world, I say we party.”

Chapter 3: Season 2: LIB - Tinky. Secondary Antagonist - Andy Killgore

Summary:

The world gets more fleshed out as more allies and enemies are introduced. This includes the Bastard of Time and Space himself.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The season starts with a “Go, Go Nighthawks” like sequence. It’s the big game, Hatchetfield High Nighthawks have a good chance of winning it. All they have to do is beat the Clivesdale Chemists. “Fuck Clivesdale!”

It also lets us know where everyone’s at after the events of Season 1. Steph and Pete are at the game on their first date. Richie is the Nighthawks mascot, Ruth is supporting him and is also watching the cheerleaders. Grace is only there for Max, she spends most of it with her hands over her eyes. Too much bare skin for her liking. But she does peek through occasionally.

After the game ends, everyone splits up. The Nighthawks win so everyone’s celebrating. Jason asks Richie if he wants to hang out. Richie agrees, but he has to go do something first. He runs over to a waiting car and knocks on the window. The window rolls down to reveal Paul Matthews.

“Ready to go home?”

“Actually, I’m gonna hang out with some friends, is that ok?”

“Ok. Have fun.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

The next morning, Paul goes to work at CCRP. Everything seems normal, nothing looks shady. That is until a shipment of mindmilk is taken out of the basement and put on a truck. The truck is headed for the Roller Rama.

The CCRP technical department have no idea of this. Paul, Bill, Sylvia, Melissa, Mr Davidson, Charlotte and Ted just seem to be going about their day. Reports get filed, documents are signed, etc. Paul does his coffee run to Beanies. We meet Emma, Zoey and Nora who serve shitty coffee. There’s some cute Paulkins banter. .

Melissa is the secretary who acts all innocent and cutesy. That act falls when she’s working late that night and goes down to the basement. Of course, CCRP keeps their weird, unethical experiments in the basement. There’s a bunch of experiments, some of which are inactive.

Droid23 are among the inactive experiments. (I love murder Paulkins but couldn’t think how else to fit them in) Andy Killgore is there. He’s a cyborg built out of human, robot and demon parts. He’s been down there for about 15 years. The difference is, he’s been waking up by himself since last year. The sedatives aren’t enough, they need to terminate him.

Mellissa grabs a knife, fully intending to stab him in the heart. He headbutts her. While she’s down, he manages to escape, using the locket he keeps on him to pick the locks. He uses his enhanced strength to kill Melissa.

He rides the elevator up to the surface. He was built to be Judge, Jury and Executioner. And he’s going to follow through. But first, he needs to get his bearings.

The Nerds are forced into participating at Parent’s night. Steph would rather be doing anything else. Duke informs her there might be vampires lurking around the school on a night where there are extra students/eating opportunities.

The main teachers are Liz Cunningham, Tom Houston and Miss Mulberry. I’m upping her to a high school teacher so she can interact with Steph and the Nerds before the PIEP reveal. Dan Reynolds is also there as a volunteer.

It does turn into a vampire attack night. It’s a group of low-level vampires that Steph manages to take down. During this she spots Killgore watching her. He doesn’t do anything, just sort of stares before walking off.

Solomon, Paul, Ted, Mark and Karen have an incredibly awkward conversation. Their kids are friends, so they sort of have to know each other. Through this, they all figure out the Slayer and that their kids have been fighting the undead together.

They find their respective kids to discuss the situation. They go all along the lines of:
“Does she know what you are?”

“Yes.”

“Has she tried to kill you yet? Has she put you in danger?”

“No. Not really.”

“Well, carry on then.”

Ted is impressed that Pete managed to have the hottest girl in school fall for him. Even if Pete doesn’t have a Mustache. He forces Pete to introduce him to Steph. He wants to give her the overprotective big brother shovel talk. That talk has an extra edge with the Slayer-vampire dynamic.

Steph is distracted by Kilgore’s presence but knows meeting your boyfriend’s guardian is important. She tries to be present and they do have an interaction. She gets called away by Solmon.

“Have you used protection yet?”

“Gross.”

“Well, we’re going to need to have the bats and the bees talk.”

“Come on Teddy, I’ve had that talk so many times.” Pete groaned internally and externally.

“But I give the best one.”

Solomon disapproves of Steph’s friendships, but that’s his default setting. After a brief conversation with Miss Mulberry, Tom Houston and Duke, he realises her grades have improved within the past year. It hasn’t harmed his reputation, it makes him look like a tough but caring father who gets results. So, why the Hell not? The Nerds could be worse.

Paul and Richie’s conversation definitely involves the “ok, ok, ok, ok.” Thing. It doesn’t matter the version or timeline, Paul Matthews will always do the “ok, ok, ok, ok” thing. (I may have picked it up off him, it surprisingly works.)

Richie encourages Paul to ask Emma out. Or at very least give her his number the next time he’s there. Paul agrees, his bad vibes sense has yet to go off around her.

Ted almost runs over a goat while driving home from work a few days later. When he gets out to check, the goat is gone. There’s this weird ticking noise coming from the distance. He goes to follow it but it stops suddenly. He gets back in the car. It was probably nothing, right?

Killgore and Steph come face to face while Steph is out patrolling. She just dispatched of another group of vampires. All that’s left is dust, a weird ticking noise and a cryptic warning. The cryptic warning came from a vampire in a trench coat and a hat with a Mustache.

The warning was: “The Lord wants his toys back, don’t let him put the set in his toybox.“ Steph is so confused by it that she lets him go.

Killgore emerges from the shadows. “You let him go, that’s unexpected. That would make you guilty in my opinion.”

They come to blows. He’s stronger then her but she doesn’t give up easily. From the words they exchange during the fight, she realises whoever this guy is, he will kill everyone and anyone if he deems them guilty. He would probably kill all the Nerds for just existing. That goes against her entire stance. She fights well, but he kicks her ass and leaves her there. She now has too problems to deal with.

Ted spots Killgore while sneaking into Charlotte’s place. His reaction is: “Andy?” Killgore turns around but Ted is already inside. He knows Andy on sight, they have a history. One he’s never told anyone about before.

He can smell the undead bloodshed surrounding Killgore. He knows that can’t be good. H tells Pete about his history with Jenny and Andy who he thought to be dead. Especially considering what he did to Andy.

Him and Andy both loved Jenny in the 1860s. Before Ted was a vampire, he wanted to tell her how much he loved her. When he went to tell her, he watched her and her family be massacred by a nest of vampires. This was the moment where he was turned. Andy was his first victim.

“Why didn’t you tell me this before?”

“Because I thought he was fucking dead, ok? I thought the worst thing I’ve ever done - and I’ve done a lot of bad shit – would never come back to bite me. Or more importantly, bite you.”

On his way into school the next day, Pete hears the ticking. He turns around to spot a weird goat staring at him. After school, he tells the Nerds what Ted told him. Steph reveals that she met and fought Killgore. She doesn’t know how to deal with him. There’s also the cryptic message. Duke decides to start looking into the Spankoffski history and what “the Lord” could want.

The Nerds decide to buddy up. If Killgore comes after them, they won’t be alone. The pairings are Ruth and Richie, Grace and Max, Steph and Pete.

The Spankoffski name is distinct enough to make research on it easier then Church of Starry Children. They trace back to Poland before coming to America in the 1600s. The name stuck throughout the centuries.

If they want to find out what this weird goat/Lord is, they’re going to have to look into the Spankoffski family history. This takes several days, as there’s a lot of history to look through. The Nerd duos have some runs in with Killgore. Turns out teaming up was a good idea.

Duke gets as far as what Ted told Pete. Then he gets stuck. Which is honestly a mood. Andy is a unique being, part human, part demon, part robot. How do you defeat that? There are no records of how to do that. He decides to go call in backup, time for a visit to Miss Retro’s.

Miss Holloway listens to his problem. She doesn’t know exactly how to help. This is so specific, but she has an idea. T’noy Karaksis, the bastard of time and space. If anyone can make time stand still for someone, it’s him.

She pulls out the Black Book. The page on T’noy Karaksis includes the summoning ritual, details on the Bastard Box. Duke spots a reference to the Spankoffski family and his…. Fascination with them. He hasn’t been heard of since 1997.

“1997, that’s when - Thanks darlin.” Duke ran out of the diner.

Miss Holloway shut the book. She shoved the book back where it belongs.

Duke runs off to find Steph and Pete. They’re in the graveyard, on the lookout for new vampires.

“I have an idea. You know that locket that he has, what if we destroy it?”

“You think that would work?”

“Maybe if we combine it with short-circuting his parts.”

Ted texts Pete about a very specific weapon held in a disused military base nearby. (PIEP) If they combine it with Pete’s suggestion, they can defeat Killgore.

Richie, Ruth, Max Pete and Steph stage a heist. Grace doesn’t want to participate but she is lookout. If they’re going to do it, she thinks they should at least do it right.

The disintegration ray is kept in a weapons vault underground. There’s only one person on duty and they get distracted by Ruth hacking the lights. They go off to find someone to fix it. The Nerds sneak in, get the weapon, get out.

Pete freezes momentarily when he hears the ticking. Richie tugging on his arm snaps him out of it. The next night, they lure Killgore to the outskirts of town, using their “guilt” as bait. A combination of Ruth short-circuiting his robotic parts, Grace yanking the necklace and Steph using the disintegration ray, they defeat him. All that’s left is dust.

Duke finally catches up to the gang. He tells them what he’s been trying to say for the past while. That 1997 was the last time Tinky was seen. The year Ted and Pete got their souls back.

Tinky loves the Spankoffskis, especially without their souls. His toyset is so much better when it doesn’t have any remorse or love or guilt. He’s been trying to contact them because he sensed the threat of Andy. The only person who gets to mess with his favourite vampires is him. But they won’t answer his calls, which is really annoying and rude.

That’s basically his whole plan, get the bros back to their former ruthless killing machine selves. He doesn’t really care about anything else. He was really hoping for them to kill Andy, not for this display of teamwork and friendship. Ugh, gross.

Steph remembers the cryptic warning she got. They call Ted in to help because this concerns him too. They go in search of the guy who gave it to her, returning to their duos to cover more ground. Duke and Ted pair off because they’re the “adults”.

Steph, Pete, Ted and Duke eventually find the Homeless Man wandering the streets. “Spare change for the – oh, it’s you.”
“What did you mean about not giving him back his toys?”

He proceeds to tell them that it’s too late for him. He was one of Ted and Pete’s ancestors who Tinky drove mad. If they’re not careful, he’ll do the same again or worse, put them in the Bastard’s Box for all eternity. Before they can get anything else, he runs off, screaming “make it stop!”

Now that they know what the threat is, they have to figure out how to defeat it. You can’t just shoot Tinky with the distingration ray. It’s possible he’d make time collapse in on itself in his final moments. There has to be another way.

Hannah and Steph meet in Shop class while doing woodworking project. Steph is making a bunch of stakes but sticking them together to make them look artistic.

They bump into each other on the way to lulnch. Hannah lets Sophia and Daniel go ahead because she needs to talk to Steph. Steph is getting sick of the cryptic messages but takes time to listen.

The message is: “Don’t let time slip away on you. Just because you can’t kill it, doesn’t mean you can’t stop it. Loops aren’t infinite, there’s always a way out together.”

This all culminates in a two-parter. The first half is a time loop, The only people who’s aware of the loops are Grace, Hannah and Daniel. Daniel’s time powers make him sensitive to anything magical messing with time. Hannah just always knows. This is the first sign of Grace’s magic getting more powerful.

The time loops ending point is Pete being dragged down through the floor, headed for the bastard box. Grace has to persuade her friends to trust her. This whole season is very anime, time loops don’t surprise him.

They can’t break the time loop on their own. A combination of Daniel’s time stopping powers, Hannah’s ability to see through timelines and Graces magic to find the right combination of events to stop the loops. Pete is saved just in the nick of time.

The second half is non-linear storytelling that all makes sense once all the pieces are put together. The Nerds are thrown through time by Tinky, having to run around events of seasons 1 and 2. We get to see the big game, Lautski first meeting, the prank on Max, Duke talking to Holloway about Tinky.

As they keep being thrown through events and trying not to interfere too much, they realise the events are getting further away from the present. Before they know it, they’re in 1997 Hatchetfield.

Pete: “I hated 1997 the first time around!”

Richie: “Same.”

Steph: “Enough playing games Tinky! Show yourself!”

Tinky reveals himself, taking on a hybrid of a goat and Curt from the Summoning. He has no interest in fighting them, he just wants to nab non-souled Spankoffski bros and have them for himself. They’re supposed to get their souls back in 15 minutes.

What Tinky doesn’t know is that The Nerds found a sealing ritual while time jumping. They begin to get the ritual together, all while avoiding evil vampire!Pete and Ted. Luckily, they’re busy slaughtering a witch’s entire family. Pete gets a look at his former self, completely covered in blood while grabbing an ingredient for the ritual. Steph drags him off before vampire!Pete spots either of them.

While being chased by Tinky, they enact the ritual. Time runs out,Tinky is ultimately permanently sealed back in the Hellmouth. He’s not completely defeated but he is sealed away. You can’t destroy time after all.
One last blast of magic sends the Nerds back to the present. The timeline is restored. Pete and Ted are souled by the pissed off, grieving witch. “This is the consequence for what you’ve done!” Fade to black.

Notes:

I really hoped I spelled Tinky's full name correctly. I totally agree with that Tumblr post about how the most inaccurate part of the Summoning is that Steph, Pete and Grace manage to pronounce LIB names correctly on the first try.

Chapter 4: Season 3: LIB - Blinky, Secondary Antagonist - Dark!Grace

Summary:

We're going to Watcherworld. Biggest, creepiest amusement park in Hatchetfield.

Also, it's final year of hgih school. They grow up so fast.

Notes:

This chapter was the hardest to work on. Mainly because when I'm working on this draft, there is a certain amount of "Eh... and then this happens!" It normally snowballs from there. That is kind of hard to do when you get hit with a head cold. I'm fine, just a bit clogged up. I got here eventually though.

Chapter Text

The season begins at Watcher World! Biggest, creepiest amusement park in Hatchetfield. Solmon brings Steph there for father-daughter photo opportunity. Nothing outright terrible happens. Other then what usually happens at Watcher World.

He gets her a Blinky pushy. When they get home, she stashes it in the basement because it unnerves her. She immediately leaves to go patrolling and hang out with her friends. Final year of high school is about to start, they need to start thinking about college and SATs and other final year stuff.

Steph is extra annoyed at her dad and decides to take it out on some vampires.

After the fight: “So, Watcher World didn’t go well?” Ruth asked.

Steph wiped remaining dust off her pants. “Ugh, it was fine. You know what that place is like. It’s for parents trying to kill time with their kids.”

Across town, Emma finally saved up enough to quit Beanies and start her weed farm, Perky’s Buds. Paul drives her to the plot of land. On the way, they see a billboard for Watcher World. Paul mentions some dying on one of the rides. The place sets off his bad vibe sensor. It’s never wrong but is almost never listened to. Like Cassandra’s prophecies.

He leaves her to get to work. Ziggs works there. For now, they’re her only employee. Their parents (the Chambers) disapprove but they’re a grown adult. They stopped caring about what their parents/everyone thought after they left high school a few years ago. Which is honestly, a mood.

A few days later, Steph is left home alone. She wants to take the time to order food, do her homework, scroll through her phone, check her stakes to make sure they’re all sharp enough. Of course, Blinky has other plans.

The plushie comes to life. It’s a home invasion episode. Steph vs Blinky plushie. Steph is chased throughout the house, pursued by the plushie. It’s like being home alone and you’re spooked by every shadow and every bump. But in this scenario, the bumps and the shadows actually contain something very evil.

She’s armed with nothing but her phone, her wits and a stake. The stake isn’t going to do anything but it was the first sharp object she could find while running through the house. When Blinky has her cornered, she turns the shredder on and shoves the doll inside. The shredder spits out a bunch of purple and yellow foam. Steph collects the remnants and puts them in a garbage bag. Solomon gets a very confushing text message about needing to get the shredder fixed.

“I am so giving Watcher World one star.” Steph muttered as she shoved the bag into the nearest trash can. She stormed back into the house.

Blinky just wants to watch how things would unfold. He was invested in what was going on. He did not appreciate his viewscreen being locked out of sight in the basement. Her shredding the plushie leads to him swearing vengeance on that stupid slayer! His other bros might have been defeated by her, but he won’t lose. He’s crafty, he can play the long game.

Everything seems normal while Blinky watches. He can see her friends are important to her. Pete and Richie are both out because of his bros liking them. It would be a Whole Thing. Also their supernaturalness acts as a protection barrier. Vampires and vengeance demons are hart to corrupt or control unless you have the right conditions.

Max and Ruth are also both out. Ruth is busy with the theatre department. Ever since the “incident” in the lighting booth, she hasn’t felt super comfortable being in there. However, she’s gotten really in to being on the stage and acting. She’s got a supporting role in the school’s end of year play. When she’s not doing school stuff or with the other Nerds, she’s in rehearsal. She’s too busy for LIB shit. So is Max. Any spare second he has is spent in the gym or in practise.

While the class is on a campus tour of Hatchetfield Community College, the Nerds are looking for somewhere to get food. Steph bumps into a guy wearing a volunteer t-shirt. They have a brief conversation, he introduces himself as Xander. He tells her the best spot to get food is and gives her a flyer. He claims to be an employee.

The real reason Xander’s there is to scout the local college for potential PIEP recruits. He’s normally looking for those who are already college students, not those who are there for tours. PIEP is pretty sure hiring highschoolers would be illegal. But he knew he had to talk to the Slayer the second he saw her in the crowd.

The flyer he handed Steph includes a “support number.” It’s really a PIEP hotline. Anyone who calls there will be sent to PIEP, provided they have a supernatural problem.

Xander: “You call this number anytime, you’ll get what you need?”

Steph: “You mean like, if my phone breaks or something?”

Xander: “Something like that. Now go join your friends and don’t forget what I told you.” He grinned at her.

After Steph walks off to join the Nerds, Xander and Duke lock eyes. Duke’s there as a volunteer chaperone. Teachers are busy and need to teach. He was in the school for a case and saw a flyer looking for volunteers. He gives Xander an appraising look, Xander just smiles.

Anyway, back to the main plot. Rise of Dark!Grace! We all know this girl loves murder and violence. But in this AU, I don’t think she’d go all the way into darkness unless she really felt she needed to.

It starts with her babysitting Tim Houston one normal seeming night. The first sign of something being off is the TV going on the fritz. “The Blinky Song” starts playing on a loop. She uses magic to switch it off. At least she can hear herself think now.

She leaves Tim inside in a protection circle to keep him safe. She runs out of the house and encounters a group of Sniggles. They all have purple glowing eyes and deranged smiles. They’re standing outside the house like the doppelgangers from Us. There’s no backup, it’s just her. She does the only thing she can think of – blast them all with magic.

Grace’s showdown with the Sniggles results in most of them being killed. Except for one – Snigglette. She has an offer to pass on from her master. One that will work out well for both of them. If she doesn’t, they’ll come again and make sure to kill the boy this time. Grace punches Snigglette in the mouth but lets her get away.

When Grace runs back to the house, Tim is asleep on the couch. But she knows that the message meant business. She goes to Watcher World to find out what the H-word is up.

Alice comes back to town for a few days. She drops her stuff off at Bill’s before heading out. She’ll be back for movie night, he’ll make sure to get snacks.

She and Deb are on a date when she spots Steph and Pete also on a date. Alice takes a piece of paper out of her bag. It’s got a psychic dream she had written on it with Give to Slayer scribbled at the top.

Steph unfolds it to reveal: “Get him in the eye. Hope you’re a good shot. Blinky doesn’t like it when people mess with his viewscreens.”

Alice: “Good luck.” Walks back over to Deb and leans her head on Deb’s shoulder.

The next night, the Nerds (minus Grace) go to Watcher World. There’s less Sniggles around, the group sticks together for safety. There are amusement park workers around and possessed park goers. If it’s got purple glowing eyes and an empty smile, they’re fighting it. Steph and Max dispatch of most of them pretty easily.

Richie points out something. It’s a giant version of Blinky mounted on top of a building. Steph brought the family gun with her. She figured Alice meant “shot” literally. She goes to line up her shot but pauses when she sees something moving in the shadow. When she looks back up, Blinky has gone.

Little do they know, Grace was the one in the shadows. Grace has already had her conversation with Blinky. Going further into her power does sound enticing, but she’s not sure about it yet. Killing those Sniggles did feel good though.

Steph comes face to face with Snigglette. Snigglette asks her if she knows where the bruises on her jaw came from. Steph is confused.

“That nerdy prude friend of yours sure can pack a punch when she wants to.”

Steph goes in for the kill, fighting even harder against her opponent. The gun is dropped and the others try to grab it before Snigglette can. The fight ends with the gun going off, hitting Snigglette in the ribs. Steph calls 911 but doubts they’ll get there on time. The question is, who fired the gun? Richie, Ruth, Pete and Max didn’t do it. They were too busy trying to grab it that they didn’t see who got it.

They have more important matters to deal with. Like Blinky. The massive Blinky isn’t exactly hard to miss. He’s on top of the entrance. A gunshot goes off, hitting Blinky in the eye. Everyone whirls around to reveal Grace holding the gun. Steph grabs it off her because it’s the family gun on the way out. Her Dad would kill her if it went missing.

They think everything has gone back to normal. The evil has been defeated. (It hasn’t, but they don’t know that yet. So shh)

The SATs are coming up. Meaning lots of group studying. While walking Steph home one night, Pete works up the nerve to ask her to prom. Even though they are dating but he thought he should ask anyway just to be sure. This is his first romantic relationship that has lasted longer then 2 days and hasn’t ended in tragedy. She says yes, it’s very cute.

They go to Ruth’s end of year play. It goes well, pulled off without a hitch.

In the leadup to the SATs, something strange is going on. RAndom men have been disappearing. No one knows where they’ve gone but the cops thinks it’s just run of the mill people going missing everyday thing.

The Nerds get through the SATs and their final tests and any other scholarly thing they need to do. The point is that they complete the school year relatively well. Now it’s time to get ready for prom.

Steph, Ruth, Grace go dress shopping. They bump into Brooke, Caitlyn, Brenda and Stacey while there. Caitlyn asks Ruth if she wants to go with her as like a date.

Caitlyn: “Is she ok?”

Steph: “Give her a minute. She’ll get there.”

After about 2 minutes of Ruth processing, she agrees.

Steph asks Grace if she’s going with Max. Grace shrugs, makes some weird vague comment. It sets off alarm bells in Steph’s brain. There’s not much she can do about it here though.

Steph decides to do the next best thing. Get her dress and accessories. Then follow Grace around stealthily and find out what she meant about that vague comment. She follows Grace for the night, ending up with Jason and Grace in a parking lot with Steph hiding in some bushes.

When she realises Grace is about to enact a dark ritual, Steph springs out from her hiding spot. She launches herself at Grace, tackling her to the ground. Jason is saved but put in the hospital during the week of prom. Steph and Grace fight it out. Grace kicks her off.

Steph: “What the actual fuck Chastity?”

Grace: “Don’t call me that!” she spat a twig out. “It’s almost prom night. Lots of dirty dudes to take out. Just like Blinky.”

The secondary antagonist has become the primary antagonist.

Steph tells Duke, Pete, Ruth, Richie and Max about what’s up. Pete’s immediately worried about Ted, self proclaimed horny bastard. Steph assures him Ted’ll be ok if he avoids the Chasitys. Max is slightly relieved that Grace shut him down for prom for a dark reason, not because she doesn’t like him. Dude has it bad.

Time for a get-ready-for-prom montage. Steph, Pete and Grace are in slightly dressier versions of their homecoming outfits. Steph’s red dress has multiple hidden slits in it, perfect for hiding sheafed knives.

Needy Beasts are providing the music. Duke, Tom, Becky, Miss Holloway, Liz Cunningham and her husband are on chaperone duty. The Nerds, Duke and Holloway are on the watch for Grace. Steph and Pete go on the dance floor, partly to see if they can find Grace. They find Ruth and Caitlyn, Trevor and Rudolph, other teen couples. But no Grace.

The Nerds have to fight their former friend. They don’t want to hurt her but at the same time she needs to be taken down. Before something much worse than what’s gone down happens.

They eventually find her hitting on Brad, the jerk who bullied Hannah in Yellowjacket. Steph unsheathes a very sharp knife, pushing it to Grace’s back.

Steph: “Don’t turn around. Just back away.”

They go outside onto the football field. It’s an open space, everyone’s inside. It’s a showdown of Magic vs Strength. Grace wants to enact a dark ritual that requires sacrifices to the lead vengeance demon. It needs to be done tonight or not at all. They need to survive the night.

Richie might not be a full-on vengeance demon anymore, but he can still help. He knows the ritual means nothing good. Once it begins, it can’t stop. Unless, you have another equally powerful witch. He runs off to get Miss Holloway. Before he does, he draws an entrapment line No one who enters it can exit it. Meaning Steph, Pete Grace, Max and Ruth are trapped on the field.

While Richie looks for Miss Holloway, the other three fight Grace. She keeps blasting them with magic, but they keep getting back up. Max tries breaking through the power-madness. He’s always liked her, before the magic. He accepts her, every part of her. Grace hesitates.

The others exchange a look before agreeing. They inch towards her, putting down the knives. The gang accepts her fully as one of theirs. They give her a group hug. I like the whole Nerds are genuinely friends with Grace thing, So, we’re doing it.

Richie and Miss Holloway show up. The ritual can be undone with the proper witch-power. PIEP shows up to shut down Watcher World and clean everything up. They know about the break-in The Nerds did last year. General Macnamara is cool with it, it was for the greater good. He does want that disruption ray returned to the weapon vault though.

The season ends at Graduation. Everyone’s there to support the class of 2020, the lowest death rate in Hatchetfield High history.

Chapter 5: Season 4: LIB - Pokey, Secondary Antagonist - The Infected

Summary:

Your Apothesis is upon you.

Notes:

Because this is Pokey's Season, I decided to take the oppportunity to cram is as many references to the songs of Hatchetfield as I could.

Chapter Text

The season begins in Hatchetfield College at a play. The Hatchetfield players and the college theatre department are putting on a play, An Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie. Zoey, Hailey, Caitlyn, Trevor, Rudolph, Lex and Ruth are among the performers.

The play is supposed to be scary and serious. It comes across more as funny. The Nerds are there to support Ruth and Trevor. This lets us check in on where everyone’s at after high school.

Pete’s studying chemistry and maths. Ruth is studying performing arts. Steph is studying media and business. Richie’s studying English and Film Studies. Max decided to take a gap year and has a job at the local gym instead.

Grace has been let out of PIEP observation recently. She spent the summer there and PIEP decided she wasn’t going to go off the deep end again. She does have to wear an ankle bracelet that monitors magical use. She’s studying Religious Education and History.

The audience also includes Macnamara and Xander who are keeping an eye on Grace, Becky, Tom, Ethan, Hannah, Paul and Emma, Ziggs, Zach and Josh. Ziggs is openly on their phone, they don’t want to be here. Zach occasionally checks his phone. He also doesn’t want to be here but he’s trying to hide it a little more. They were paid to be here and neither of them were passing up 100 bucks each. Paul does not care for theatre but at least it’s not a musical.

While on patrol the next night, Steph spots a strange light in the sky. Lighting begins to flash and strike. She has a brief conversation with a cliché theatrical vampire about the strange weather occurrence. Hatchetfield isn’t known for its lightning storms.

Pete shows up and the theatrical vampire is shocked to see one of its own kind on the side of the Slayer. How shocking! Steph takes the opportunity to stake him. He thanks her for saving him. Lautski banter ensues.

The scene from TGWDLM where we see everyone spotting the the lightning and the meteor plays out the same. This includes Ted and Charlotte together. Becky at the hospital, treating a sick kid. Hannah doing her homework interrupted by Webby who tries to warn her, Lex and Ethan watching a movie. Ruth and Caitlyn getting a ride home from Hailey. They stop so Hailey can go to the toilet. Everyone has a moment of glancing up at the sky.

The next morning, things are kind of weird. We basically do the “La Dee Da Da Day” scene performed by various Hatchetfield citizens minus infected!Pete. But Paul isn’t the only one uncomfortable and not participating this time around. Steph, Hannah, Becky, Macnamara and Duke are also witnessing this.

Duke immediately goes to find Steph to see if they can figure out what’s going on. Macnamara immediately calls PIEP to call it in. Their agents need to be on high alert. He then calls Xander to make sure he’s ok.

Ruth and Hailey are running through the college theatre department. They’re being chased by Infected!Zoey, Caitlyn and Trevor. Hailey shoves Ruth out the door, staying behind to buy her a little more time. She runs to find Steph. If there’s something weird going on, it’s best to be with the Nerds.

Becky goes to the hospital. Weirdness or not, sick kids still need to be treated. But the patients she was supposed to be treating are missing. It’s weirdly dark and quiet. One of the other nurses jumps out of the shadows and attacks her, blue slime coming out of his mouth. She doesn’t want to hurt him, he’s normally a good guy.

Becky runs through the hospital, pursued by the nurse and a morgue attendant. She grabs a syringe of tranquiliser and sticks it in their arms. While they’re immobile, she takes her chance. She escapes out a window.

Macnamara is going through downtown, trying to avoid the singing and dancing horde. Schaeffer tells him on his walkie talkie that they need a sample from the infected.

General Macnamara: “So you want me to go into the eye of the storm? All right?”

He needs to collect a sample. All he has is his gun, chances of backup are slim. He now needs to find one of the singing zombies and survive to tell the tale. He’s eventually cornered by one of his soldiers, who sings: “You can run cause our borders are closed.”

The soldier slam Macnamara against the wall. He wraps his hand around his General. “Your apotheosis will be upon you in a moment.”

His head is blown through by a bullet. John immediately pushes the body off him, taking a moment to breathe and massage his wound.

“Oh, thank God.” The gun was wielded by Xander. He wraps his arms around John. They take a moment to count their blessings of both still being alive and uninfected.

There is blue gore smeared all over the floor and wall. Macnamara gets the sample for them to analyse. With a bit of luck, PIEP should be able to come up with a cure. They also grab an unconscious zombie (Trevor) to bring back to base. They’re going to need a test subject.

The CCRP survivor gang are doing their best. Emma suggests they stop hiding in trash cans and maybe find someone who can help. She suggests they go to HIdgens, her old kooky biology professor. He’s a scientist, he might actually be able to help. And not just make weed at the infected. Although that might actually chill them out. They can test that theory on the way there.

While on route to Hidgens, they have to go past the local Starbucks. There’s a group of infected attacking Alice and Deb.

Without even thinking about it, Bill does the “get the Hell away from my daughter” thing. The group turns around to look at him and he throws his axe at them. They scarper, leaving Alice and Deb behind. They have some blue slime on their clothes but seem otherwise unscathed.

Meanwhile, Steph, Pete, Grace, Max and Richie run into Lex, Ethan and Hannah who are hiding behind some cars the Lakeside Mall parking lot. There are Infected around, but they’re still, like they’re in stasis. Just as they reach the exit, Hannah mumbles that they should hide.

Her predictions haven’t been wrong yet, so they follow her advice. One of the Infected snaps awake next to Pete, who didn’t have a chance to duck and hide. He immediately falls and lies still. Since he doesn’t have a heartbeat, the Infected assume he’s already dead. There’s no point, so they leave. One of them mentions needing to get a move on. He’s ni a hurry. The Starlight theatre await.

Pete sat up. “So what do we do now?”

“Looks like we’re headed for the Starlight,” Steph answered. “If we want a shot at stopping these bastards.” They were still missing Duke and Ruth. But she couldn’t think about that right now.

“What do you think Banana?” Lex asked, giving her sister a searching look.

“We stick with the Slayer. Without her, bad songs, blue blood, Singular Voice.”

When the CCRP gang gets to Hidgens, he provides some refuge an alcohol. He and Emma analyse the blue shit. The resources of his home lab are limited but they can try to learn something.

Hidgens reaches the same conclusion as in canon. He tries to knock Emma out but she uses the teeny bit of magic that she knows to put a forcefield around herself. She flees. The second she leaves, the forcefield goes down, “Show Stopping Number” can be heard playing faintly.

Hidgens is never that far from going batshit insane. He summons Pokey, knowing he kickstarted all of this by unleashing the meteor. Pokey goes to infect him when Hidgens offers him a deal.

In exchange for allowing him to put on Workin Boys with a full competent cast, he will give eternal servitude. He will put on the perfect show for all of Hatchetfield to see at the Starlight Theatre. Pokey just likes the Workin’ Boys musical so goes with it. And if he gets some more hive members, so be it.

Emma finds the others. Paul immediately believes her words. They manage to escape, Emma reveals that the slime is some sort of network that connects everyone in some sort of Hive. Ted mentions how this all started with the meteor from the previous night. Cut off the head, take down the body, right?

Paul can feel eyes on him, hairs standing up on the back of his neck. We see the outline of a glowing blue mask. Pokey’s mask.

The Nerds + Hannah, Lex and Ethan have to get to the Starlight Theatre. It’s clear that is their goal. Duke and Ruth finally join up with them.

Duke: “Something weird is going on.”

Steph: “Yeah we noticed.” She proceeded to tell him and Ruth everything they’ve learned.

Ruth: “Do you think there’s a chance to – save them?”

Steph: “I honestly don’t know. But we need to stop this here before it gets any further.”

They continue zigzagging across town to get to the Starlight Theatre quickly and without detection. Halfway there, one of the infected tries to attack Duke. Rose pops up and whacks his attacker over the head with her guitar. The attacker has blue slime all down the side of their face. But they don’t get back up.

Of course, Needy Beasts and Miss Holloway are fine. The second she figured out something was up, Miss Holloway locked up Miss Retros and went out to assess the damage. She found Rose and her band and she couldn’t abandon them to the fate of The Singular Voice.

The Nerds + Lex, Hannah, Miss Holloway and Needy Beasts raid the music store downtown. They all get musical instruments to wield as weapons. The only way to fight a musical threat is with more music.

Rose has her guitar, Skud has drums, Thrash has a microphone and Kale has a bass guitar. Steph has an acoustic guitar, Ruth has microphones, Richie has a clarinet, Grace has violin, Max has symbols, Pete has saxophone. Miss Holloway has her guitar, Hannah has her ukelele, Lex has a mandolin. Duke has a keytar.

Becky runs out of the Witchwood covered in dirt with some blood on her arms. She comes face to face with PIEP. They let her in when they realise she’s a medical professional. In this one instance, she can be given clearance to the premises.

She and Xander stand over unconscious, constrained Trevor. They’ve been analysing the blue slime and the insides of the unconscious hive member. Monitor results are currently inconclusive, there’s something missing.

The squad fights their way to the Starlight Theatre. They use musical instruments to defend themselves against the hive. Beating them over the head. It seems to be most effective. The idea amuses me so I’m going with it. It’s a musical version of “always put one in the brain.”

The CCRP gang runs past. They’re also on their way to the Starlight Theatre. They go in through the front. The Nerds go in through the back. CCRP immediately taken out by the Infected. Going in through the front might not have been their best idea.

Everything culminates at the Starlight theatre. As the squad enters, they begin to hear loads of bits and pieces of Hatchetfield songs. As they go further in, it gets louder and louder. Workin Boys is about to start, hive members are sort of milling about and singing at each other.

Richie locks eyes with Paul who’s singing “Inevitable.” Richie is horrified by this more then anything else that’s happened in the last 24 hours. His Uncle has repeatedly said he will never be in a fucking musical.

Steph wields the acoustic guitar that’s got dried blue shit all over it. Infected!Officer Bailey approaches her and starts singing “Show me Your Hands”. She hits him right in the mouth, knocking him down. He hits his head off one of the seats. They now know the Slayer is in their midst.

Hidgens is not pleased, his show is going to be ruined by these disrespectful uninfected audience members. He goes fully batshit insane, screaming for the hive to kill them all! Pokey is just sort of watching everything from the balcony above them. Dude’s a little bit confused, he did not account for this. But it should only delay what is inevitable slightly.

The Infected!Hatchetfield Players get off the stage and go down into the pit. Steph cracks her knuckles and fight. Ruth hesitates momentarily before joining the fight. She needed to remind herself that these are not her friends. She hits Zoey with the microphone. Pete uses the trombone to take down hive members from where he’s standing.

Pokey gets bored and decides to kick it up a notch. He wants all the noise to go away and for everyone to follow his lead. He releases all the spores from the meteor into the air. Spores are much more effective and efficient then the blue shit being spit into your mouth. They don’t even need the person to be a tiny bit alive to work. In minutes, everyone will be in the hive.

Steph, Lex and Hannah have to watch as one by one, all her friends fall. A literal epic musical battle is about to go down. They get out of the pit so they can put some distance between them and the others. The other infected are immobile. Pokey wants the Slayer and the Foster Brats to fall to their friends. Now that’s a showstopper.

It takes a moment but Max, Grace, Pete, Duke, Ruth, Richie, Holloway and Needy Beaasts all get back up. Their eyes glowing brightly and grins are fixed on their faces.

They all get to sing some of their songs. Max does the “Who will pray for you when your body’s gone?” part of “Nerdy Prudes Must Die.”

Ruth sings “Just For Once.”

Rose, Skud, Kale and Thrash sing “Nightmare Time Theme.” For them, a slightly slower version of one of their classic songs is creepy as Hell.

Pete sings “Cool as I think I am.”

Grace sings her part of “Dirty Girl.”

Richie sings a slightly different version of “Bury the Bully.” So it sounds like he’s singing about Steph instead of Max. There’s also a bit of the “I’m not a loser” motif thrown in.

Ethan sings a mash up of “Yellowjacket” and “CaliforMIA.”

Miss Holloway and Duke sing “Run Away With Me.” Miss Holloway is doing lead vocals, Duke is providing backup vocals.

Time is ticking down; our remaining heroes need to do something before they’re taken out by their loved ones.

Meanwhile Xander, Becky, Macnamara and PIEP’s medical are still working on the cure. Trevor wakes up and slams his hand against the glass. He’s trying to break it down. They just lost a lot of time. Something’s still missing, and they better figure it out soon.

Trevor starts singing a song called “I will kill you all.” The vitals on the monitor begin to shift. They realise what the missing ingredient to the antidote is. The Song of the Infected. Every vaccine needs a little bit of virus.

The cure kicks in and Trevor starts throwing up blue. It’s like his body is rejecting the Hive. Or at least, trying to. Becky has him take some pills that contain medication that should attack the mental link all the Hive share.

Steph fights her way up to the balcony, cutting down hive members as she goes. HIdgens keeps trying to stage Workin Boys. Steph punches him off the stage. The last that’s seen of him is the Infected!CCRP gang surrounding him. They were instructed to kill those who weren’t already among their numbers.

Pokey is standing on the balcony with the meteor behind him. Hannah and Lex try to hold off their Infected friends. They’re chased around the theatre, watched by an enthralled audience.

Destroy that meteor and you break Pokey’s control, in theory. She has to do something and she ain’t becoming one of the Hive. She moves into fight mode. Infected!Pete arrives on the balcony. Pokey disappears, reappearing on a different balcony.

Steph and Pete battle it out. As they fight, Steph tries to break through to him.

Steph: “Come on Spankoffski, I know you’re in there! Snap out of it!” She punched him but it had no effect.

Pete: “I can’t wait for your apotheosis to be upon you!” He crawled ontop of her, pinning her down.

Steph: “Never!”

Steph knees Pete in the groin. The force knocks him back, he lands next to the meteor. She breaks her guitar over the meteor. A cacophony of chords can be heard. The meteor shatters into a million pieces. Pokey begins to clap slowly.

Pokey: “Nice show Slayer. But you’ll never defeat me. Your outmatched 100 to 1. I am inevitable.”

Steph: “Actually it’s more like several hundred to 3.”

A faint tune can be heard that sounds different to the rest of the music. It’s “Witch in the Web.” An accompanying wave of psychic power blasts through the theatre, hitting Pokey right in the mouth. The kill shot obliterates him.

PIEP’s cure comes showering down through the sprinklers. It knocks all the infected unconscious. Steph, Lex and Hannah are spattered in blue shit. As is everyone else. PIEP forces the place into lockdown. A townwide quarantine is issued, for the next 2 weeks no one gets in or out.

Steph waits for Pete to wake up. She needs to make sure he’s ok. He wakes up after about an hour and smiles at her. A real smile that reaches his not-glowing, brown eyes.

Steph: “Did you mean it? All that stuff from your song.”

Pete: “Of course I do. Every crime needs a partner. You’re smarter then you think you are. You keep proving that.”

Steph blushed deeply. “Thanks. You should know it’s not only in your head.”

The dust needs to settle. The Infected need to be fully cured. Reunions happen. Infected and Uninfected are left to grapple with the guilt and trauma of what they did during the Apotheosis.

Chapter 6: Season 5 - LIB: Wiggly, Secondary Antagonist - Linda's cult

Summary:

The Black Friday from Hell is about to unfold. This is going up a week before actual Black Friday.

Notes:

This chapter took an entire week to do, which took a lot longer then I thought.

There was so much to fit in and I think I just about managed to do it.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Wiggly is the last one left, he’s the oldest, the most powerful. It makes sense he be the ultimate big bad.

Things are finally back to normal after the apotheosis, more or less. Life carries on. It’s been a year, Christmas is coming. Before that holiday is one that capitalists would say is more important. Black Friday. In the run up to the holiday, there’s been a new toy on the market.

Lex is working her shift at Toyzone, unloading a shipment and putting them on shelves. There’s a wall behind her with loads of Wiggly dolls on every shelf. Black Friday is two weeks away and they need to get the merchandise ready. There’s also a Webby Barbie doll on the bottom shelf. (I think Webby’s toy form should be completely different from her bros. If she even has one.)

Kids and Parents come in to Toyzone. None of them are interested in the Wiggly doll. They’re more interested in the various video games or Lego kits or Barbie dolls/Dreamhouse or whatever kids are into. Lex notices this but doesn’t say anything about the parents being more interested. Frank insisted these Wiggly dolls were gonna make a shit ton of money.

When she mentions it to Hannah and Ethan the next day, Hannah is repulsed. During the conversation, Ethan mentions how the guys at work are really interested in getting Wiggly for their kids. This gives Lex an idea: What if she takes one of the Wiggly doll and sells it online? They could really use a shit ton of money.

Wiggly wants his wrath, as always. The way to get it is to drive all the adults crazy with toy mania. Hatchetfield is obviously ground zero because the citizens of Hatchetfield are never that far from going over the edge.

“You guys have more holes; you need more things. And you need it harder” The doll just gives them a bit of nudge. It should result in as many rage fueled death and casualties as possible. That’s his plan: give a nudge and let Chaos unfold.

Here’s why some of the major players want a Wiggly
CCRP wants a doll to study it and to manipulate it’s connection to the Black and White. Ethan and Lex want a doll to sell it online. Linda wants one to give to River for Christmas, she doesn’t care about the other 3. But she will get them one so that they’ll leave River alone.

Tom wants to give one to Tim for Christmas. Tim lost his mom 5 years ago but the grief is still there. It never goes away. He thinks it might be something nice to have. Teens can like plushies too, right? Becky wants to give at least one to one of the kids who has to spend the next month in hospital. Especially the ones who can’t interact with others. It could be something for them to play with if they get lonely.

Movin On
PIEP knows what’s up. A few weeks before Black Friday, John and Xander were eating breakfast, and the Uncle Wley ad came on. The second John heard Wiley’s voice, he dropped his spoon. They need to get to work on stopping it/figuring out a plan that doesn’t involve everyone dying horribly.

Pete works part-time at the cinema with Cineplex Teen. It’s to help cover some of his college fees. He meets up with Richie outside Toyzone a few days before Black Friday. Richie was in Toyzone because he wanted to check out if they had any new cool anime merch. There’s a poster for Wiggly doll in the store window. Seeing it makes Richie stop dead in his tracks.

Pete: “What is it?”

Richie: “Uhhh…. That’s my boss. My old boss, head of vengeance demons. One of the most powerful entities fueled by anger and vengeance. In fucking doll form.”

Pete: “Oh no. That can’t be good.”

Steph is already at the mall because she needs to get some college supplies, candy for Pete, a coat to wear when blood stains are being washed off her other one and earbuds. Pete likes to mix chocolate with blood to make it sweeter. He had low blood sugar when he was human and still enjoys sweet stuff like hot chocolate and candy.

She sees the Wiggly doll and it kind of reminds her of the Blinky plushie from season 3. She remembers how much of a little shit that thing was. She needs to finish her errands. But once she’s done that, she’s going to find the best social worker in Hatchetfield for a talk.

Duke is doing paperwork in his office. Holly the cat is perched on his feet. (It was bring your pet to work day) He stops filling out the report when he hears his phone buzz. It’s a message from Steph with a clip of the Wiggly doll ad. There’s a caption that reads: look familiar? i’m on my way.

Duke replies: I do have work to do, but I’ll see you soon darlin. I think you’re onto something.

Frank asks Miss Holloway if she wants him to drop any toys off for her retro toy collection. She’ll have a think about it, but her display is fine the way it is. She tells Brenda to deal with the other customers but leave Frank to her. Brenda shrugs and says sure.

While serving him his pie, she asks him about the Wiggly doll. Frank sys that little monster is gonna make him a lot of money. The crowds are going to be like none. Think every Black Friday shopping frenzy multiplied by a million.

Frank: “Yeah, this Black Friday is going to be like none other.”

Miss Holloway: “That’s what worries me.”

Duke comes in just as Needy Beasts is about to start their set. Miss Holloway tells him to avoid Lakeside on Black Friday. That’s not an option for him considering what Steph told him earlier. But he assures her he’ll be careful. Being with the Slayer and the Nerds in danger times always increases chance of survival in his experience.

Miss Holloway isn’t convinced. She’s not entirely sure what Wiggly’s up to. She isn’t even sure if she can do anything about it. She’s going to need to consult the Black Book to find out. Breaking that thing out is only for emergencies.

In the runup to Black Friday, the Nerds begin to do more and more research. Richie tells them what’s at stake if his former boss gets what he wants: world destruction. Steph keeps her trusty knife sharp and her Dad’s gun loaded.

Solomon: “Why do you have the family gun Stephanie? We keep it in the house for a reason.”

Steph: “Don’t worry, nothing’s going to attack the house. I’m taking the gun to the danger.”

Solomon after sighing deeply: “Just put it back when you’re done.”

Steph: “Got it.”

When Ruth is asked by Caitlyn about her plans for Black Friday, she replies with “Saving the World.” Because it’s Ruth, Caityln shrugs it off as her being dramatic. While doing research, everyone stocks up on weapons. They need to be prepared for everything.

Duke goes digging into the history of Lakeside Mall. There could be something helpful there and they need any advantage they can get. He finds out about the Waylon family and their construction of black altars for worship of dark entities.

Once they were killed, the black alters fell into disuse and were eventually built over. Lakeside mall is one of those former alters. Grace spots him looking at a picture of the old Waylon place. She mentions how it’s the only one left. Her Dad’s been trying to sell it but no one wants it. They say it’s haunted. Duke wonders if Lakeside has any ghosts. It would really suck if they had to deal with that on top of Wiggly.

Black Friday begins with Tom, Becky, Barry, Homeless Man, Linda, Grace, Max and Gary are in the line outside Toyzone. The gates open and “Our Doors are Open” can be heard playing through speakers. (Grace and Max don’t want a Wiggly, they’re there to try and keep things somewhat calm)

Sherman was kileed off in season 1 so he can’t buy all the Wiggly dolls. Demand still leads to Frank driving up the prices. Curt’s shopper complains how he can’t afford more then one.
Linda suggests that each person get a nice, even number like 4. Max approaches Curt’s shopper and tries to calm him down. It doesn’t work, the man is too filled with rage and he punches Max in the face.

The customers descend into a rabid wrath-fuelled frenzy, bodies start to hit the floor including Curt’s shopper and Corrupt shopper. Max and Grace try to keep the casualties to a minimum but there’s too many of them. They manage to keep Barry and Gary from throttling each other and pull Linda off Becky.

Homeless Man attacks Lex, his vampire features out. Tom tries to save her but gets bitten on the arm in the process. Homeless Man runs out of the store, screaming something incompressible. Grace stabs a customer who’s attacking Max. The customer pulls the knife out and stabs Tom in the side.

Lex, Tom and Becky get out of Toyzone mostly unscathed. Max and Grace follow them out. They need to warn the others who are scattered around the mall, ready to spring into action. The remaining deranged shoppers spread throughout the mall, looking for even the chance of a Wiggly doll.

Lex, Becky and Tom run through Lakeside, looking for the exit. Lex stops outside the Cineplex, Ethan’s Nighthawks cap is at her feet. Ethan is jumped and beaten by Gary Goldstein. Lex reaches through the Black and White to give Ethan the hat. The hat hits Gary in the shoulder. When he looks up, Lex pepper sprays him.

A mysterious woman with long white hair and kind of purplish skin appears.
Webby: “Great, I’m on time,” she pointed at everyone. “You’re all here and alive. Well mostly.”

Tom: “Do you know who this is?”

Hannah and Lex: “Webby!?!”

Webby: “Hi Hannah,” she waved, smiling widely. “Hey Lexie, long time, no see.”

Webby has been lurking in the background for too long. She knows Wiggly will kill her friends/favourite humans in the process of world destruction. She’s not here for that.

The mall is on lockdown, all the doors are shut and windows locked. Everyone who is there is trapped inside with no way out. CCRP and PIEP are monitoring the lockdown and fighting outside. Anyone who does manage to get out is immediately taken custody by PIEP. Being taken by PIEP is way better then CCRP because it means survival and not just being studied.

Wiley approaches Linda and tells her about Wiggly’s plan for her.

Wiley: “Do you see him? Do you see him?”

Linda: “Yes I fucking see him!”

This leads to Linda setting up her cult and gathering members. She burns down the Cinnabon. She informs Gerald of this via phone call. He decides its best to stay in the car.

My headcanon is that the cinnamon rolls there are like the ones I get from Dubh, a local coffeeshop once a month, They’re so good, I totally get Gerald’s obsession.

Meanwhile, Grace and Max join up with the rest of The Nerds. They are trapped in the mall. This is where they find out about the cult. Homeless Man mumbles about how he needs to get a doll for Mother. Steph asks him who he’s talking about. He mentions a woman in a cape and a beanie. Grace realises he’s talking about Linda.

Homeless Man approaches Pete. Steph brandishes her knife but for the first time, there’s a sign of something in Homeless Man’s eyes. Something collected. He says Pete reminds him of someone he used to know and love a long time ago. The moment is over faster then it began and Homelss Man throws himself over the glass barrier. Falling down a floor won’t kill him.

Hannah, Lex, Webby, Tom Becky and Ethan are being chased. While being chased by cultists screaming about the doll and Mother and Wiggly’s grand plan. Hannah has a doll in her backup that Lex secured for online sale earlier. She wishes she could get rid of the thing but Webby points out if they get rid of it, it will fall into the wrong hands.

The two groups join up with the Nerds. Steph kills the vampire cultists chasing them. The group now consists of Steph, Pete, Grace, Max, Richie, Ruth, Duke, Lex, Ethan, Hannah, Tom, Becky and Webby.

Ethan and Tom are the only two who still want the dolls. Hannah produces the doll. It calls Webby a stupid bitch to her face. Webby just rolls her eyes, this isn’t the worst thing her brother has ever called her.

Wiggly tries to suck the squad under his spell, it almost works. Lex does her monologue from Black Friday and he realises Wiggly is real fuckin ugly.

Steph and the Nerds are fighting off the cultists. The Nerds have to fight them and use the powers they’ve harnessed over the seasons to defeat them. All their years of training and growing paid off. You put the time in, you get results.

They take refuge in the cinema. Tom still has a stab wound and Becky has a first aid kit on her at all times, just in case. She gets to work fixing Tom up. Along with any injuries the others may have. For example, Ethan’s covered in bruises.

They need somewhere to hide for a bit while they come up with a game plan that isn’t just “survive the night.” Grace does suggest giving into the cult, everyone’s response is “No!” They clamp audio description headphones on the Wiggly doll and shove him under a seat.

Steph asks Webby if any of her other brothers are going to make a surprise appearance. Webby doesn’t think so, the ones they’ve already defeated that are still intact are sulking in the Black and White.

Steph: “What’s the Black and White?”

Webby: “It’s what lurks beneath what you call the Hellmouth. It’s a Hell Dimenson. My Brothers, the Lords in Black rule over it.”

Duke suggests they take down the cult. That won’t be enough. Steph mentions destroying the doll, it worked in season 3. Unfortunately, there’s not a shredder big enough for all the Wiggly dolls.

Lex: “How about burning the whole place down? Would that work?”

Max: “It would certainly be destructive. I’m in.”

Pete: “Even if that were to work. There’s still the problem of worldwide supply. Even if we save Hatchetfield, can we save the world?”

Ruth: “Sure we can!”

Webby: “You deal with the cult. Without them, Wiggly will be powerless to come into the real world and fully achieve his plan.”

Steph checks her weapon, including the multiple knives and gun. Tom tells her she’s holding it wrong and corrects her grip.

They grab the doll and sneak back out of the cinema with something assembling a plan. Webby disappears on the way out. One second she’s there, the next she’s not. There’s too much darkness in Lakeside right now and it’s draining her power. She needs a quick recharge.

The cultists were waiting for them. They’re surrounded. Steph, Max, Tom, Duke, Grace, Lex, Richie and Ruth spring into action. Pete, Ruth, Becky and Ethan are focused on protecting Hannah and the doll.

One of the cultists lunges at Lex, getting her in a chokehold. She kicks wildly at him as he pins her down. Steph fires a shot in his direction at the same time as someone else. The combined sound makes everyone stop, their ears all ringing. They clutch their hands over their ears.

John: “You’re not dead yet.”

John went into the mall when he saw Wiley lurking around the premises. He went to confront him but Wiley is a slippery guy who keeps fucking disappearing. The cultists who are still alive run for it. Barry is seen speeding away.

After a few seconds, the squad lower their hands.

Richie: “Are you guys gonna arrest us? It might have to wait, we’re kind of busy right now.”

John: “No. You’re on the right track. In fact, I’m authorising you to use my firearm.” Becky is the first to grab the gun.

Xander: “Oh my God, we only have so many firearms left. We are going to run out if you keep doing that!”

John: “It’s too late, I’ve already done it.” He saw a slight smile tug at Xander’s lips despite the dangerous situation.

Steph: “Hey I know you,” she pointed at Xander. “You were at Hatchetfield Community College couple years back.”

Xander: “Yeah that was me. Hi Slayer.”

Steph: “It’s Steph.”

Xander: “The support number I gave you still stands. Use it if you need it.” He picked up the remaining guns, handing one to John. The PIEP members headed off in a completely different direction.

Barry Swift runs into the Cult Headquarters. He tells Linda about the Slayer being trapped in the mall with them. This puts a complication in the situation. The ritual they’re planning to preform won’t be as easy to preform if they don’t have a doll. And if there’s someone in the building trying to stop them.

Linda tells her cult to stay vigilant. Track down the doll and look out for the Slayer. She asks Barry who the Slayer is. He tells her it’s the mayor’s girl.

Linda: “Stephanie Lauter. Ha! The mayor’s brat is the one chosen to fight the darkness. I have nothing to worry about.”

Barry: “And she’s not alone. She has friends.” Proceeds to fill Linda in on who’s with Steph.

Linda: “Oh. Well that might be a slight problem. But nothing I can’t handle.”

Frank overhears this entire conversation. He’s particularly interested in the fact that Lex is with the group. Linda notices his reaction and drags him forward. He doesn’t know anything, she doesn’t believe him. She slits his throat when he doesn’t give her the information she wants.

Linda: “Guys. Get me that doll, k?”

The entire cult. “K.”

The squad is on the top floor of the mall. Pete inhales deeply, telling her that someone’s coming. They duck out of sight. One of the cult members walks past, mumbling about needing to track down the doll. Steph keeps her eyes glued to them, seeing them go in the direction of Toyzone.

Steph: “I know where we need to go now.”

Lex already has matches and a lighter on her. But they need kerosine or at least something flammable. Steph reveals she knows where to go. Toyzone has plenty of flammable objects, it’ll do.

It’s time for another break-in. They divide into 2 groups. Group 1 is Steph, Pete, Grace, Max, Richie, Ruth and Duke. Group 2 is Lex, Ethan, Hannah, Tom and Becky. Group 1 will keep the cult busy. Group 2 will find a flammable toy object and begin the fire. They will give the cultists a chance to escape once the spell is broken. But this is going to end in flames.

Max and Grace are on lookout. He asks her if she’s ok with the break-in, remembering what happened in season 2. She says she’s fine with it because it’s their only option. Desperate times call for desperate actions.

Group 1 goes in through the front entrance. The cult has half set up the ritual. It’s very green. Wiggly’s birth is upon them. All they need is a doll.

Linda: “You fools just walked right into the lion’s den! Get them, but leave the Lauter girl for me.”

Steph: “You want us, come and get us.”

It’s 7 vs 108. The odds aren’t great. But Group 1 manages to hold their own. Pete lunges forward and bites Barry. Barry shoves him off but has lost a lot of blood from his arm. He collapses from blood loss and is trampled by the other cult members.

Ruth recognises one of the cultists as the guy who brought her back. She electrocutes him. She’s glad she came back from the dead. But the guy who did it ditched her the second his experiment succeeded. She had to figure all this stuff out on her own.

Steph and Duke dust as many of the vampire cultists as possible. At one point, Duke’s stake goes through a vampire and lands in Homeless Man’s chest. He collapses before turning to dust. He gets one last look at Pete before he goes.

The cult’s numbers begin to dwindle. Richie goes up against Gary. He quickly realises Gary isn’t under any control, he’s just happy to be along for the ride. Being so near all this demonic power gives them both a little bit of a power boost. After blasting each other for a bit, Gary spots something out of the corner of his eye. He knocks Richie out. He might be in on the whole cult thing, but he doesn’t want to hurt the kid.

Meanwhile, Group 2 searches through the store, looking for a flammable toy. The shelves are completely ransacked. Becky suggests they should just use the Wiggly toy. Provided they survive the evil cult, they need to be prepared for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Gary spotted Hannah wearing Lex’s backpack. He follows them into a corner aisle. There’s nowhere to run. Lex shoots him in the shoulder.
ex: “That’s for what you did to Ethan.”

Ethan: “Whoa.”

Gary doesn’t even flinch at the shot. He’s zeroed in on Hannah and the backpack.

The noise attracts unwanted attention. Linda grabs the doll.

Linda: “You want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Good help is so hard to find,” she wrestled the doll off Hannah. “Give me that, girl.”

Hannah: “No!” Teenage girls fight hard. But that only gets her so far. Despite everyone’s best efforts, Linda gets the doll.

Linda and the cult try to complete the ritual. Steph, Pete, Duke, Richie and Ruth keep taking out cult members. In the chaos, they don’t end up summoning Wiggly. Demonic summoning is very tricky. If even one thing goes wrong, you probably won’t get the desired result. An all out brawl happening in the background doesn’t help.

Everyone freezes as the lights go out. When the lights come back on, there are 2 new arrivals. Wiely and Miss Holloway.

Wiley immediately thrusts his dagger at Miss Holloway. Hannah stops the dagger from hitting its target with her powers. Miss Holloway uses it and lunges at him.

Steph gets out her phone.

Richie: “Is this really a good time to get out your phone?”

Steph: “Just trust me!”

Pete: “She’s gotten us this far.”

While she’s texting, the family gun slips out of her hand and lands next to Becky. Becky points the gun at Linda. Linda doesn’t seem that alarmed.

Linda: “What are you gonna do? Shoot me? Don’t you know – ?” Becky fires the gun before she can finish the sentence.

Now that the leader is taken out, what’s left of the cult runs for the hills. All that’s left is Wiley and the Doll. Grace and Max enter followed by PIEP.

Steph: “Told you so.”
Xander: “I understand someone asked for assistance.”

Wiley stops what he’s doing, allowing Holloway to land a hit to the leg. The reason he paused was seeing Macnamara.

Wiley: “You!”

General Macnamara: “You’re out of time Wiley. The prophet is gone. Her followers are too.”

Wiley: “Not entirely.”

Lex reaches through the Black and White to get her lighter and matches. She sets the doll on fire. It burns up pretty quickly. Wiggly wasn’t exactly concerned with making the doll out of the best material. It just needed to get him into the real world. He really wanted the vessel to look like him. Now that’s gone up in smoke, time for a plan B.

Wiggly hops inside Wiley, but is trapped in there by Grace performing a powerful spell of her own.

Wiggly!Wiley – “Hello fwendy wends,” he smiled dementedly. When he speaks, it sounds like Wiggly. “I’m glad you’re all here, I can take you all out in one go.”

Before anyone can do anything, a surge of green magic shoots out of him. The squad gets knocked down. When they try to get back up, he wraps a green tentacle of energy around all of them and lifts them up and slams them against the walls. The air is slowly choked out of them. Steph is still vaguely conscious. She uses her remaining strength to lift her knife and cut through the energy.

Wiggly: “… what are you doing Stephanie? Don’t you know that tickles?”

Steph: “Not letting you get your way and looking good while doing it.”

Wiggly: “You failed. Time to cut you open and have all your friends watch.” Everyone’s eyes snapped open, but they were all frozen in place.

He drags her down. When the energy tentacle lets go. Steph gasps for air. A massive wave of white light shines through the room. The light takes the form of a spiders web. Webby appears in the centre of it. Queen in White has finally returned to the chat.

Webby: “Sorry I’m late, what’d I miss?”

Steph: “Me kicking your brother’s ass.” She has the PIEP gun and knife again.

Wiggly!Wiley: “Oh this is going to be so much fun. The Slayer and my bitch sister, a 2 pack.”

Steph and Webby vs Wiggly!Wiley. The lives of her friends and the fate of the world is at stake. If they don’t win this fight, Hatchetfield and everyone else is fucked. Steph tries to fire the gun but it gets stuck and proves useless. Webby blasts him with waves of psychic energy. He uses a wall of energy to block her out. She breaks a hole through the wall.

Wiggly!Wiley pins Steph to the ground. She’s lying on her back with his foot keeping her down. Steph manages to wriggle her arm free and reaches out to grab Wiley’s dagger. She throws it over her shoulder, the dagger embeds in his heart. Just at that moment, Webby grabs him on the back of his head.

This separates the two beings. Wiley falls to the floor in a puddle of blood. All the tentacles disappear, everyone falls to the ground. John goes over to Wiley. He might have gone to the dark side, but he’s still John’s mentor. John holds him to the end, providing him some comfort. (This is not a Wiley reformation in death.)

Webby traps Wiggly in a cage. Before he’s taken away, Wiggly growls about not being the end, just the beginning. His eyes glow green as he looks at Richie, who’s eyes also glow faint green before the glow disappears.

Steph pulls herself up and dusts herself down. She runs over to Pete and kisses him. The rest of the Nerds surround her.

There are more dolls stashed in a warehouse for worldwide shipping. Wiggly needed to start in America but worldwide destruction was the plan. But the Nerds have been dealing with LIB shit for years. That warehouse mysteriously burns down with no casualties.

Since this is the last season, there’s an epilogue. We see the citizens of Hatchetfield going about their day. Another threat will probably come. There are still vampires and darkness to fight. But the Nerds are equipped to deal with that after all they’ve been through.

Notes:

Thanks for reading this long, rambling thing. The finished product is way more detailed then the initial idea.

I had so much fun writing this and figuring how to fit in as many references as I could.I absolutely love this universe, I hope we get more from this universe at some point.

Now I must return to my writing void. I will probably return early next year.
